SuperMikey Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 So, The XX won the prize then. Not the choice I would've made tbh. Their album is good, but it drags a lot sometimes and it's completely maudlin. If I was judging, I would've picked Laura Marling's album 'I Speak Because I Can', which is absolutely amazing. Still, at least Dizzee Rascal didn't win...
Saintandy666 Posted 8 September, 2010 Posted 8 September, 2010 I like Villagers, but the XX album probably deserved it. It is a great album in that sort of minimalistic style which they pull off very well.
Rory Posted 8 September, 2010 Posted 8 September, 2010 I thought Wild Beasts would win. I was wrong. They should have, though: Part 1: http://luminousplectrum.blogspot.com/2010/08/barclaycard-mercury-music-prize-2010.html Part 2: http://luminousplectrum.blogspot.com/2010/08/barclaycard-mercury-music-prize.html
swannymere Posted 8 September, 2010 Posted 8 September, 2010 Should have been Biffy or Mumford IMHO, i guess being popular went against them. The XX really need to get laid.

moon monkey Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 The I am klook album is great and was hoping for that to win. XX is a good album but they need to cheer up a bit.

Ludwig Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 Oh dear. I agree. I wanted Laura Marling to win, but that's nothing to do with her album (she should've won for her first record).
Rory Posted 13 September, 2010 Posted 13 September, 2010 The xx absolutely ****ing nailed it at Bestival.
Beachcombers Windowsill Posted 15 September, 2010 Posted 15 September, 2010 The xx absolutely ****ing nailed it at Bestival. Shame you literally had to be nailed in to actually see them in the big top though.
