As a football fan I feel that it would be a shame for a club that's made such a positive start to suffer such a penalty, I do feel for their fans.

As a Saints fan, good news! Gets us up another place in the league and puts a rival into a dreadful position. Anyone we would like to sign from them?

Pompey fan's must be p1ssing them selve's. The uneven handed treatment of clubs is disgusting, should be one rule for all.

I think that Pompey have gotten off lightly as well, but if Wednesday go into admin tomorrow then it will be one rule for all.

Good news for us. They will be a fantastic investment though when they are going cheap for someone to pump some money in to. They'll be fine but hopefully will struggle as the season goes on leading to a take over in the summer.

Would be a shame to see them go into admin, tartanowl was pretty sure that they'd settled their PAYE bill and all was going to be well. Mind you, P*mpey thought that as well...difference being that Sheff Wed won't get away with it.

Thank you for joining in one of the few threads I have ever started Alpine. It is just like having royalty on board.

The honour is mine.

I find it quite sad seeing some Saints fans on here wishing for another team to go into admin, after everything we went through....

Afraid I do want them to go into admin.

It's harsh, but I'm interested in the narrow interests of SFC.

Also, i think a ten point penalty is a fair penalty. It reflects the fact that you've put more/betetr players on the pitch than you had a right to.

Got to feel a bit for them, the amount (in footballing terms) appear paltry really - sign of the times I guess. Always liked Wednesday, always seemed like a good family club, decent fans - got to wish them well and hope they get out of it.

I believe that they share in a little bit of our history in the fact that they were the club to play in the last FA Cup game at the Dell, which we won 3 - 1 (if memory serves). Mind you we then got drawn against Tranmere, which is probably best forgotten...!

Our deduction lost us at least the play-offs and maybe outright promotion,so each club has to abide by the rules. It is totally unfair on the fans as they are the ones to suffer. It is a shame some clubs do not live within their own means.

Tranmere was the last FA Cup game at The Dell.

I would have sympathy for them, were it not for the fact that they have signed half a dozen players this summer, and turned down offers for their best forward Tudgay.

If you were to add up they signing on fees, extra wages and tranfer fee they would have received I don't think they would be much short of the money that they owe HRMC. They are doing what the skates did, but to the tune of £1m not £120M.

A prudeny club would have sold some players to raise the tax bill, and then see who they could aford to sign afterwards.

Ohhh yeah - course it was - we lost the replay at their place didn't we. Sorry, must have had a 'blonde' moment there.

They sold their star keeper for a seven figure sum to Burnley I think. So where has that money gone?

Sorry guys I have had an unwell little lad the past few days so I haven't had much chance to go online.

Tartanowl? Would be interested to hear your thoughts.

All is not well and it now appears that the board have been a bit 'selective' with the truth with regards to our financial figures and various other goings on. According to our ex-Chairman (now just a ST holder and fan) it turns out that we have a £1.5m 'black hole' in the accounts and that we may have been mislead on other goings on by the Finance Director and other board members. The fans are not happy and I can see things turning nasty if the board are not finally removed. Somehow these dinosaurs are still on the board at the club despite putting their signatures to Dave Allen's lawsuit when he sued some of our own fans, despite overseeing 3 relegations, and despite more than doubling our debt since our initial relegation from the Premier League. They're like a bad smell that just won't go away. In all our years of under-achievement these people have still remained in positions of power at the club despite not contributing their own cash. It is truly unbelievable.

Good! Wednesday fans are so arrogant!

;) You're a closet Blade. Your opinion is invalid.

Apparently the initial PAYE bill we were in court for was historical. This has only just surfaced as being the truth just now. It turns out we had additional and current tax monies to pay to HMRC on top of what we paid with the Lee Grant transfer money. Nick Parker the CEO was supposed to be communicating openly with the fans trust (he publicly said he would do this) yet despite knowing full well about the financial situation and what was going on, he neglected to mention this at a recent previous trust meeting despite his pledge of honesty and openness. The Co-op Bank have bailed us out (AGAIN) for now but I don't know how much longer this will go on. We have been incredibly fortunate to have the support we have had from them.

We only received two bids in total for Marcus both from the same club (Blackpool). Both of the bids were under £500k. Would you accept that?

To pay off historical tax monies owed to HMRC. I'm not sure but I presume it also covered part of the 'black hole' I mentioned earlier.

They've been saved.

for now.

their bank has bailed them out.

Like you say, for now.
