S-Clarke Posted 6 September, 2010 Share Posted 6 September, 2010 I have a niggling feeling that it will be manager that no one here has spoken about. Did we speak about Pard's before he was speculated? He came out of the blue and everyone was underwheled by it - i remember the reaction was pretty much ''oh....nice one'' but it didn't turn out that bad did it? at the end of the day a manager with an ounce of ability should be able to get us out of this league, as i believe Pardew would have done if he was kept on. charliemiller Posted 6 September, 2010 Share Posted 6 September, 2010 Yeah, I'd take him in a heartbeat and he's said he'd love to manage in England, but I don't think he'd even think about a third tier entry point when he could easily get big Prem bucks. He thought he was getting the west ham job , thats why he left the croatia job in april when his contract expired, If he cant get the west ham job maybe we are perfect for him now ??? He has Italian conections as well , never know !

Kaiser Soze Posted 6 September, 2010 Share Posted 6 September, 2010 Just received this via email: Got an email saying O'Neill was phoned and offered the job last night which he accepted... ... only for Cortese to go and interview Adkins this morning, which has understandably p£ssed off O'Neill. Very strange goings on, could still go either way I hear now.

SSN know nothing! They might as well say "We know it will be a human being, and the appointment will be made sometime between now and the end of all life as we know it"
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 6 September, 2010 Share Posted 6 September, 2010 I have to say I will really not be happy, excited, or upset by this if it is Atkins. Bit flatline really and not the news I was expecting or hoping for! My thoughts exactly. 5 Live intimated the appointment would prove that NC knows what he is doing. Dischuffed, in an ambivalent way, totally.

SaintBobby Posted 6 September, 2010 Share Posted 6 September, 2010 I still think it will be a foreigner. Slaven Billic would be awesome - but is probably in the MON wet/pipe dream category. It could of course just be coincidence. There is a avdertising board in there, last I saw it was advertising some sort of Orange flavour fizzy pop. If this is true... good god, someone, anyone, help us. He spent a sickening fortune to get hull where they were, then spent an even more sickening amount whilst they were there, and got them precisely nowhere. (ok... survived relegation by the skin of their teeth in their first season, but I still stand by my point. I would be far from happy with Brown.) lordswoodsaints Posted 6 September, 2010 Share Posted 6 September, 2010 We need somebody with great connections and friends at higher clubs who would be more willing to lend us a player or two,he has to be high profile to command respect both from the players and ( for some of you who worry about what the press think) media and he also needs to be able to work with cortese..... Tbh it's going to be a big ask but some of the names being mentioned on here like Adkins should not even be allowed an interview.....seriously underwhelmed if we don't get a manager with prem experience. SuperSAINT Posted 6 September, 2010 Share Posted 6 September, 2010 Brown is very much in the Pardew mold - I'm expecting a different type of manager. Gotta love how the echo said this morning it's a "young, english, up and coming manager", and SSN are saying "European" My feeling is that it'll be someone with a rep for playing attractive football. SuperMikey Posted 6 September, 2010 Share Posted 6 September, 2010 As much as Brown is a total c*nt, he'd probably get us up to the Prem. He still thinks way too much of himself though, and he's not really that good of a manager. I just hope that we can get someone in place quickly before our season comes off the rails too much, as we need to get out of this division THIS SEASON. I'm sure Cortese will think the same. I don't have a clue who it'd be if it's a European candidate, but realistically I think we'll end up with Brown, Adkins or Mowbray if we're talking English managers.
