thorpie the sinner Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 for one second, skybet had suspended MON, it is back to 5-4 now, doh!!
Pokerchampion Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Just got £30 on with victor chandler at 7/1 , paddy power were 12/1 this morning now 2/1 worth a punt , end of the day pardew was a coup for the club so why couldnt we get mon !!!! Worth a punt at 7/1 for sure
Dr Who? Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 If MO'N becomes the next Saints manager I promise to run bare bollock naked across the St Mary's pitch during his first home game in charge. That is how confident I am that he won't be our next manager, it'll be Adkins, and I'm not getting naked for him. I think we all should anyway, even if it is not him..... it would be a good laugh!!
Dr Who? Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 for one second, skybet had suspended MON, it is back to 5-4 now, doh!! He has changed his mind! ha ha ha
SaintNeil90 Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 They do mean something if it changes to 1/20 or they suspend them. No it doesnt because that would be caused by someone putting on a large sum of money. It DOES NOT mean that person will be appointed. A betting agency can pull any market at any time they like either if they 'believe' something may be about to happen OR that they could potentially lose a lot money on the market.
SaintNeil90 Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Just got £30 on with victor chandler at 7/1 , paddy power were 12/1 this morning now 2/1 worth a punt , end of the day pardew was a coup for the club so why couldnt we get mon !!!! Worth a punt at 7/1 for sure This is the reasons odds are plummeting. Many people putting on this bet who are just speculating. case closed
CWD Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 correct me if I'm wrong, but there wasn't a press conference when we appointed Pardew. In fact I can't remember the last time a press conference was called to announce anything, so it tells us nothing that there isn't one planned
BotleySaint Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 There hasn't been any evidence to suggest any answers will come today. Right? I'm all prepared for a Dean Wilkins till the end of the season announcement....
Dr Who? Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 There hasn't been any evidence to suggest any answers will come today. Right? I'm all prepared for a Dean Wilkins till the end of the season announcement.... Now that would **** on our fireworks!! All the work time I have wasted!!
CWD Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 According to twitter, some punter put 45k on it being O'Neill. This would explain the odds falling so rapidly. So either hie is very rich and very stupid, or very VERY ITK!
Huntingdon Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 According to twitter, some punter put 45k on it being O'Neill. This would explain the odds falling so rapidly. So either hie is very rich and very stupid, or very VERY ITK! Absolute garbage I had £20 on Howe last week at 7/1, and they would only allow me £12.50 No bookmaker would take a bet like that on Managerial appointments
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 According to twitter, some punter put 45k on it being O'Neill. This would explain the odds falling so rapidly. So either hie is very rich and very stupid, or very VERY ITK! Was that on his twitter or someone elses?

St.Patrik Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Well that kind of money must make this guy really ITK - if your not sure and just make a fun bet it most likely to be a £10 & £20 bet....
sfc1976 Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Ha ha, most bookies in this country wouldn't even lay you 45k on a Prem game, let alone a market like this! I work for one by the way.
CWD Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 http://twitter.com/crstig tbf even the bloke saying it only claims it to be hearsay
SaintNeil90 Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Absolute garbage I had £20 on Howe last week at 7/1, and they would only allow me £12.50 No bookmaker would take a bet like that on Managerial appointments Not garbage at all. Very possible if the bookmaker thought he could make some money. Your £20/£12.50 bet will be dealt with very very differently to a £45k bet.
SaintNeil90 Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Ha ha, most bookies in this country wouldn't even lay you 45k on a Prem game, let alone a market like this! I work for one by the way. Independant ones could
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 I expect if it is MoN he may have some trouble getting them to pay out, as he'd clearly have had inside information.
Dr Who? Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 I think the club will annouce the new manager and after they will have a press conference. this way it keeps things closer to NC chest!
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 According to twitter, some punter put 45k on it being O'Neill. This would explain the odds falling so rapidly. So either hie is very rich and very stupid, or very VERY ITK! Apparently the person making the bet is a guy called Neil O'Martin. Must have some insider info...
Hatch Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 no bookie would take a bet like that on a market where so many people already know the outcome.
Hatch Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 on second thoughts, Redknapp has history on this sort of betting activity.
Saint Charlie Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 MON wouldn't work as an equal with Reed. Why would he want the hassle? All the signs point to an up and coming young English boss. The MON link has no substance behind it! Or at least none we have seen or heard!
SaintNeil90 Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 no bookie would take a bet like that on a market where so many people already know the outcome. Yes... because clearly we all know who it is! Infact complete opposite.
Scudamore Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Yes... because clearly we all know who it is! Infact complete opposite. Give it up mate. The story is plainly bo|locks. No bookie has accepted a £45k bet on the next Saints manager.
Pokerchampion Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Odds shortning on mon with Victor Chandler just moved in 2 points 7/1 to 5/1
Colinjb Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Odds shortning on mon with Victor Chandler just moved in 2 points 7/1 to 5/1 Another 45k on then.
SaintNeil90 Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Give it up mate. The story is plainly bo|locks. No bookie has accepted a £45k bet on the next Saints manager. No im sorry but an independant bookie would. As for the person who linked the market to a premiership match with 3 outcomes claiming to work for a bookies... oh dear.
Griffo Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 As usual, it appears that **** all is going to happen.
gonzo Posted 7 September, 2010 Author Posted 7 September, 2010 The following has just been posted by a first time poster on a Saints forum that I moderate. I did chuckle at the Southampton United bit, but make of it what you will. Without giving too much away; I'm not a Southampton fan, I live abroad and work for a company that deals with requests for special bets. A first time customer has just placed a £45,000 stake on O'Neill to become the new permanent manager. A condition of this deal we've brokered with the customer is that this deal is subject to O'Neills role at Southampton United is to be announced within the week. The fact that this client is a first time customer goes some way to suggesting that from experience there is a high success rate on the stake.
dubai_phil Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 The following has just been posted by a first time poster on a Saints forum that I moderate. I did chuckle at the Southampton United bit, but make of it what you will. Lol Saints in Spot Fixing Allegations
Cricketphilly Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 The following has just been posted by a first time poster on a Saints forum that I moderate. I did chuckle at the Southampton United bit, but make of it what you will. Us! United?!
Flyer Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Ian Holloway is the rumour from a QPR ITKer. Just thought Id pass it on.
Block 5 Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 The following has just been posted by a first time poster on a Saints forum that I moderate. I did chuckle at the Southampton United bit, but make of it what you will. And what odds did this guy give his first time customer I wonder?
doddisalegend Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 According to twitter, some punter put 45k on it being O'Neill. This would explain the odds falling so rapidly. So either hie is very rich and very stupid, or very VERY ITK! was it NC?
Saint Billy Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Does the loan window open today? if so, we are missing out again on the best deals to be had if the manager is not in place very soon.
Dog Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Scunny chairman just been on twitter ' That effing winker Adkins, buggered off to A South Coast Team, the shyster, by gum, ecky thump.'
Turkish Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Does the loan window open today? if so, we are missing out again on the best deals to be had if the manager is not in place very soon. no no, it's okay, we were waiting for the loan window to open to get the cast offs from the premier leagues 25 man squads.
doddisalegend Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Does the loan window open today? if so, we are missing out again on the best deals to be had if the manager is not in place very soon. we have a committe for that though don't need a managers input for signings anymore
Saint Billy Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Someone is having another laugh on Wiki, Notice the name! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_O'Neill Southampton On 7th September, Martin O'Neill was announced as new Southampton manager by chairman Nicola Cortese. O'Neill penned a three year deal and brings assistant John Robertson with him. It was also announced that StuRomseySaint has been appointed new sporting director to work above O'Neill
SaintBobby Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 The max bets bookies are accepting are £50. So the 45k stuff is rubbish.
gonzo Posted 7 September, 2010 Author Posted 7 September, 2010 My take on that post in my forum is that if this guy really does work for said bookie, he doesn't believe that Martin O'Neill is our man. Otherwise, he is potentially losing his employer thousands and thousands of pounds. Unless of course he has reason to be majorly p*ssed off with his employer and he's trying to lose them money. It would seem this rollercoaster ride isn't quite finished yet.
CWD Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 no, everyone has realised that 5live were talking ****
RobM Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 no, everyone has realised that 5live were talking **** It took 17 pages and 810 replies to work that out?
itchen_dan Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Haha on Jordan Sibley's twitter: "It's days like these I wish I ran a bookies!" Most probably bull**** then
Bobbyboy Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 I guess it's always 'tomorrow' that the announcement will be made. 'Tomorrow' is the new Friday. Skacel imminent.
