Greenridge Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 SSN also reporting it to be this week with Howe and Adkins both mentioned http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11719_6362090,00.html
hypochondriac Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 My money is on Adkins (literally) or a foreigner like Zola. No chance of MON even if he wanted to come IMO.
Bartosz Bialkowski Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 I think we all know its going to be Adkins. I cant say i'm excited by that. Doesnt have me rushing to the ticket office, if we sign a decent loan or two and start winning then i'll start going again. Woohoo scunnys ex physio!! Red army, red army.

Underwhelemed would be my reaction.
gonzo Posted 6 September, 2010 Author Posted 6 September, 2010 I still have a sneaking suspicion that it will be O'Neill, but Adkins would be a good appointment in my opinion.
Colinjb Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 The colinjb odds as things stand. Nigel Adkins - Evens Eddie Howe - 2-1 Martin O'Neil - 10-1 Sven Goran Eriksson - 1000-1 Glenn Hoddle - Don'tbef*ckingstupid.

Norm Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Wow! Exciting times ahead. Reminds me of the time Laurie Mac unveiled KK to the awaiting press. I'm not sure if I will be able to get to sleep tonight, waiting for tomorrow.

What difference does his background have? He's done a fantastic job at S****horpe. Jose Mourinho started out as a translator for bobby robson
Hatch Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Scunny chairman just been on twitter ' That effing winker Adkins, buggered off to A South Coast Team, the shyster, by gum, ecky thump.'
solentstars Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 adkins not a bad choice and think he will do well,.i did not believe their was any chance of martin oneil coming here from the start of the rumours.

Saint Fan CaM Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Howe would not do anything to convince me of the clubs ambition. Adkins would be slightly better, but by no means would I be excited about the future TBH. We need some experience - Zola/Clarke would be very good indeed. MON better still of course.
Norm Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Calm down. Adkins is hardly KK. Sorry hypo, I couldn't find a 'sarcastic' thingy.
ladysaint Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 George Graham or Martin O'Neil as DOF with Adkins as manager is my guess.
docker-p Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/06092010/63/wharton-tight-lipped-adkins.html Conclusive, ish.
Dr Who? Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 I have to say I will really not be happy, excited, or upset by this if it is Atkins. Bit flatline really and not the news I was expecting or hoping for!
gonzo Posted 6 September, 2010 Author Posted 6 September, 2010 Adkins has got Scunny promoted from League One twice and kept them up on a shoestring last season. That's the kind of experience we need. All IMHO of course.

JustinR Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Coppell DOF with Adkins manager more likely
alpine_saint Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 The first, the very first task for the new manager is to make a connection with the bloody first team and get them responding. Transfers, biscuit expense account, secretary to ****, all are secondary. If its Adkins, I am going to keep an open-mind, because I dont really know him or his abilities. If its Mowbray or Howe, I will be quietly confident. If its MON, I am going to jizz over my wifes face. Anyone else and I am going to be disappointed.

eurosaint Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 I still think that it will come from the blindside, ie. an Italian or Swiss that we have possibly not even heard of ! BTW, I am not ITK, HTH, COYS

Are you going to wait until you've checked, or will you make her kneel down in front of you in preparation before you open up the web browser?

Toomer Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 George Graham or Martin O'Neil as DOF with Adkins as manager is my guess. Or is that proper ITK Jan what with your contacts and all that;)
alpine_saint Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Are you going to wait until you've checked, or will you make her kneel down in front of you in preparation before you open up the web browser? Mind yer own business....

Adkins would be slightly better, but by no means would I be excited about the future TBH. We need some experience - Zola/Clarke would be very good indeed. MON better still of course. I fail to see how Zola and Clarke are more experienced than Adkins. 2 seasons of mediocrity in the Premier League.
the stain Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Yeah, i'ld go along with that. Would Alp's wife be up for that?
Pilchards Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 If its MON, I am going to jizz over my wifes face. . Don't sit on her though as no poor lass deserves that weight. ;-)
stevegrant Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Howe would not do anything to convince me of the clubs ambition. Adkins would be slightly better, but by no means would I be excited about the future TBH. We need some experience - Zola/Clarke would be very good indeed. MON better still of course. But Zola has very little experience. One season with West Ham, and that's about it. Think he was involved with Italy's U21s when Casiraghi was running that side, but only one year of managerial experience, at a completely different level to the one we're at right now. The one reservation I have about both Howe and Adkins is that, while they've done fantastic jobs at their respective clubs, they've done so under extremely low expectations, with no budget to speak of, and with no big-name, big-money players to manage. Adam Lallana's contract is up at the end of the season - as much as I'd love to, I just can't see him being particularly excited and wanting to sign a new contract if we appoint either Adkins or Howe. However, we are a third division club. Given the lofty and long-term ambitions of NC, I would be quite surprised if Howe or Adkins did get the job.
Norm Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Would Alp's wife be up for that? I've got a friend that likes to watch. Is that OK?
Bartosz Bialkowski Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 So adkins will be good for one season, then we'll need an upgrade is that what everyone is saying? I can imagine all the the top lower league talent drooling over the prospect of playing for the saints with Adkins at the helm
ladysaint Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Or is that proper ITK Jan what with your contacts and all that;) No inside info but I am sure he will get a DOF to oversee the new manager.
Verbal Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 I don't understand this thread. We already have a new manager - Nicola 'Martin' Cortese, the evil football mogul who signalled his intentions with his last movie, The Departed.
Andy_Porter Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 I'd like to see Steve Clarke on his own, not bothered about Zola. Either him, Mowbray or Curbishley.
Colinjb Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Would Alp's wife be up for that? In the eyes of the Lord yes. (What a shot that would be!)
stevegrant Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 The only question for me would be: is better than our last manager? That will show whether the last week has signalled short-term pain for long-term gain, or whether we've completely shot ourselves in the foot.
Colinjb Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 I will have £200 on Adkins at evens please. Sorry, Odds now stand at 1-9. It's an ever changing marketplace, keep up.
trousers Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 New manager announcement tomorrow According to BBC radio 5 Live. What time? cheers
qwertySFC Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 What time? cheers Due to be announced at 11.59pm tomorrow
alpine_saint Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 F**k me, lets b*tch about the bloke before he's even announced.
corky morris Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 I think NC will appoint someone who can get us out of this league then see how they go in the Champ, if they fail in the Champ appoint someone to get us to the PL, if they fail in the PL appoint someone to get us competing there. I would love MON to be our manager, but can not see it happening. I think what NC is doing is getting 'horses for courses'.
thegaffer Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 I'll have a quid on Sven... Nobody mentioned El Tel?
bjk Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 If its Adkins i'm surprised 5 Live said its an appointment thats going to prove Cortese right, however, not a bad appointment.
