ulstersaint Posted 5 September, 2010 Posted 5 September, 2010 Nutshell. Spot on. Perhaps the sacking of Pardew was structural - and the OS announcement could be read as a breakdown in relationship between the manager and development teams. Or perhaps there is another reason around which discretion is the best option.
sadoldgit Posted 5 September, 2010 Posted 5 September, 2010 Just how arrogant is this post ??? And how begrudging because you've got an anti-NC agenda ? I reckon from Day 1 last summer you've been looking for something to hate him about just because he aint got beetroot cheeks, doesnt live in the Cotswolds and doesnt answer to the name Rupert. I suggest you contact Mark Fry and find out if this was the case, because most people think we came seriously f**king close to being wound up. Ungrateful sh*t. Isn't it you that gets all self righteous about people being abusive to others? Mods? Is this allowed?

sadoldgit Posted 5 September, 2010 Posted 5 September, 2010 (edited) And you call me a hypocrite Edited 5 September, 2010 by sadoldgit
alpine_saint Posted 5 September, 2010 Posted 5 September, 2010 And you all me a hypocrite I expect my infraction is in the post. But you are so wallowing in such self-righteous negativity about the way the club goes forwards, it was worth it on this occasion.
revolution saint Posted 5 September, 2010 Posted 5 September, 2010 To be fair SOG has ****ed all over alpine in this argument. Alpine needs to do better.
alpine_saint Posted 5 September, 2010 Posted 5 September, 2010 To be fair SOG has ****ed all over alpine in this argument. Alpine needs to do better. Is that right ? He went whining to the mods, not me. As for argument content, I am spot on; SOGGY has never recovered from his dream team being broken up.
sadoldgit Posted 5 September, 2010 Posted 5 September, 2010 To be fair SOG has ****ed all over alpine in this argument. Alpine needs to do better. Its not hard though is it.
sadoldgit Posted 5 September, 2010 Posted 5 September, 2010 Is that right ? He went whining to the mods, not me. As for argument content, I am spot on; SOGGY has never recovered from his dream team being broken up. Thats true Alps, I was gutted when big Lawrie left us.
alpine_saint Posted 5 September, 2010 Posted 5 September, 2010 Thats true Alps, I was gutted when big Lawrie left us. Well, considering youve spent the best part of 2 years trying to convince everyone that Burley had a better record than McMenemy, I think you are being a little dishonest here tonight....
sadoldgit Posted 5 September, 2010 Posted 5 September, 2010 (edited) Well if you bothered to look at the stats you would see that he did, but your aren't one to let the facts get in the way are you Alps? Tell me, if Lowe had come up with a statement about playing "the Southampton style" what would your reaction have been? (ps Until Pardew came along Burley had the best win ratio of any manager we had. You think both managers are rubbish and prefer one that won 3 games in 13) Edited 5 September, 2010 by sadoldgit
sadoldgit Posted 5 September, 2010 Posted 5 September, 2010 Well, considering youve spent the best part of 2 years trying to convince everyone that Burley had a better record than McMenemy, I think you are being a little dishonest here tonight.... If you had ever bothered to read my posts you will know that my two top Saints managers have been McMenemy and Bates. Feel free to tell me how I am being dishonest? I have never said that I think that Burley was a great manager for us, simply that as far as points on the board goes he had the best record. I haven't done the stats but suspect that that other "useless" manager Pardew has now pushed him into 2nd place. Given their records I don't see how you can dismiss either of them as being "rubbish."
chrisobee Posted 5 September, 2010 Posted 5 September, 2010 Ah well, at least Mark Dennis has been forgotten. I even had to check the thread title to make sure I hadn't somehow wandered on to a different thread !
TijuanaTim Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Psycho is one of us, he was back in '83-84 too and also the best player that season, in our best ever league team. That's how he should be thought of/remembered.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 When Saints were nearing collapse last year, I bumped into MD with a bucket in his hands doing the rounds along the exec boxes...shook his hand and had a little chat. He's a top bloke who loves the Saints, even if he does talk out of his arse sometimes.

NorthamSteve Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Mark Dennis = Legend. He has an opinion, like everybody else. Doesn't make him a prat. Some of the posts on this thread do make the postees prats however.
Leslie Charteris Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Mark Dennis = Legend. Some of the posts on this thread do make the postees prats however. Now come on, what's more important, a reasoned debate or a p*ssing contest between posters?
NorthamSteve Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Now come on, what's more important, a reasoned debate or a p*ssing contest between posters? I wondering if the name of the forum should be changed to reflect this, 'Moany Bastards online' or something.
landford.saint Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Yeah, calling him a prat is a bit mean. Agreed. At times every single one of us have made complete prats of ourselves with the things we have said.
fisho Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Some ex players are only unhappy because they aren't able to freeload anymore, ask how many of them have payed for a ticket in recent times and I am sure it would be very few.

To be fair, that's a perk of being a footballer. - I'm not saying it has to happen, however.
INFLUENCED.COM Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 Psycho is one of us, he was back in '83-84 too and also the best player that season, in our best ever league team. That's how he should be thought of/remembered. "one of us" exactly !! speaks before he thinks, guilty of spreading 'rumour' but as you rightly point out had a great season and was exciting to watch and not always for the right reasons, however, to listen and then be influenced by what he says would be wrong, imo.
Bartosz Bialkowski Posted 6 September, 2010 Posted 6 September, 2010 That we'll never know. What we do know is no club even half our size has been wound up, so as grateful as i am for MLs input, I don't think had he not been involved we would have gone bust, so this saviour/hero worship thing for NC is misplaced. Can I have this weekends lottery numbers from that crystal ball of yours? I'd rather stick to what I know as fact. NC has been successful, he saved this club, and now he felt Pardew needed to go. If he recruits a **** manager and results arent better than what Pardew acheived then he will have made his first mistake, and should be held accountable. Until then, the "oooooh i have to pay for parking" or the "oooooh i cant pay by installments" therefore cortese is a **** brigade should just pipe down
