What Has Happened To Our Proud Club?

Didcot Saint

Recommended Posts

It's not OUR club anymore, once it was bought up privately it became the expensive plaything of the owner, nothing more nothing less. B*llacks to all the revisionist "fans are important" rhetoric being churned out on the OS with the same monotonous regularity as Saints banging balls "up the channels" in the vain hope that some bright spark up front might fancy chasing after one. Who do you think you are kidding Mr Cortese?

Fans have been systematically sidelined and marginalised under this regime so that your views and mine are worth the candle any more and if you don't like it do what i am doing VOTE WITH YOUR FEET! Once the revenue dries up you'll be surprised how quickly things will change. And will it really matter if this lot sells up and moves out? We're not excatly spending like Man C or Chelsea so we can't be that flush, debt-free for sure and grateful for it but floating on cash? I don't think so.

So it was "our club" during a ten year spell under public ownership but not before or since?

So basically, it's the same old.

All this "our club" nonsense is ******** anyway. If people yearn for that, go and stick a pound in Salisbury's bucket and watch them or something. We aspire to top level professionalism round here. If you don't like it, see you later.

Exactly why I extract more joy from watching the teams of my sons nowadays..

And that's a perfectly valid point of view IMO. I am not overly thrilled by the football league in general any more. I just try and enjoy the match if possible and have a laugh.

But what I do understand is that no professional club can have a future if it doesn't aspire to grow in terms of football and business. All this nostalgiac nonsense is exactly that, nonsense. If you want to point the finger at someone, point at the regulators of the game for allowing such an uneven playing field - don't point at businessman just trying to do a decent job.

FAO Jason Puncheon

If would like assistance in hitting the target and scoring when coming in from the wing feel free to PM me and I will arrange a training session with my 7 year old son.

It's funny becasue if Puncheon took that gold-plated chance at the start of the second half, after we carved them open yet again, then half of these threads wouldn't exist. Yet because a player made a mistake there is something inherently wrong with the character of the club apparently.

****ing babies.

Rochdale were up for it (as most teams playing in front of a large crowd at SMS will be) and for whatever reason Saints are flat. Why is the motivation not there? Who knows? could be a multitude of reasons but the positivity of last season is a distant memory and frankly I wonder where the next goal is going to come from, let alone a victory. Another pasting at Swindon without a manager beckons and I fear that the anticipated "WOW" manager will be an overwhelming damp squib!!

He epitomised the level of incompetence displayed by all but one of the players, who obviously should be substituted, obviously. Its only right that should the players be ****ing it up the caretaker should too.

Whilst i have had totally enough this season, with the performances and the manager situation. I am fickle and should a new guy be appointed who impresses me, i'll be back.

But for now, that pile of ****, arent getting my money. Not when I can go up the sports centre and get real value.

Jesus, if only some people would calm down, we're 4 league games into the season = i'm sure by the end of october, things will have stabilised and we'll be right up in the mix. Better late than never that our playing style has been exposed as sh*te and that we're clueless without a fully-functioning Lambert or the flair and finesse of Lallana.

Indeed, Sheff Wed lost to Brentford today so we're only 6 (or 3 with the game in hand) off the top.

Keep the faith

yeah, yeah, yeah. blah blah blah. But that is always the way with us isn't it? Why can't we just have a ****ing normal season instead of always ****ing up.

Nothing. I'm still proud of it.

Aren't you?

If you've lost your mojo don't worry, it will come back sooner than you think and you'll look back on today and chuckle.

As Bill Hicks used to say......"it's just a ride!"

And then he died, before his time.

football is changing.....everywhere

clubs in admin

the traditional big 4 being broken up

foreign owners

attendances down

players being so out of touch it is getting stupid

no characters in the game

no real loyalty in any form

not just saints...its happening everywhere

Exactly. Gone are the days when young promising footballers like that Irish kid, Aidan Brosnan, are snapped up by Walford Town FC scouts and dedicated fans like Arthur Fowler give them a roof over their heads and offer to be their coach.

A friend of a friend died a couple of weeks ago.

He was a lifelong Saints fan so when his family put the announcement into the Echo they wanted the Saints crest on the top of it.

They were then told by the Echo that the paper was not allowed to use the crest due to the spat with the club.

It is sad and pathetic that a family cannot give thier loved one a fitting tribute due to our CEO treating all with disrespect.

I for one would not be upset if the Liebherr family took thier money out of the club and took the stupid Italian with them.

Please can we have our club back.

Personally, I think that is pretty sick of the Echo to use that to generate more ill-feeling about the club. I am sure if they had asked the club then they would allowed it in these circumstances.

I feel sorry for your friend's loss but that's clearly an unintended consequence of any dispute between the Echo and the club. It's not fair to castigate anyone over that in this particualr instance.

Rochdale beat us because they worked us out and defended well. Then they had a decent skipper that kept things going and was decisive in midfield unlike ours.

The question I asked Saturday was would we have had the same two home results if Pards had not been sacked off the back of a 4 0 away win the answer was no way. To say that his sacking has not affected the team is bull the last two games they have not had the right attitude no tempo not enough desire they havent played like a team pleased to be rid of a problem manager.

The new appointment cant come quick enough fingers crossed we get the right man as this team needs a kick up the arse some inspiration to get the season back on track URGENTLY

This is fair comment, but I keep hearing the season (and winning promotion) is a marathon and not a sprint.

I have serious misgivings that AP could deliver promotion; despite his pretty good transfer record, I have doubts about what he did the players he won. And the friction with NC was always going to blow up at some point, and could have occurred in early Spring and really f**ked us up.

Provided NC does a good job of securing a manager, I still maintain that over this "marathon" we could have a better chance of promotion.

If you stop 1 mile in to a marathon and throw away your shoes without having a new pair ready to put on and try to hobble in makeshift shoes for a couple of miles until you get a new pair you aint going to win it.

An amusing analogy ;)

However, we are not hobbling along bare-footed. We have a pair of pink fluffy slippers (Wilkins) and are running a little slower to protect the feet from too much damage until the new pair of Nike F**king Sh*t-Hot Airs come along....

Then we get to run a bit further before being mugged by some big boy who wants our new pair of Nike F**king Sh*t-Hot Airs for him self.

Unless the nice shiny Nike trainers end up (a) drinking too much "isotonic" drink (b) eyeing up the other runners Reeboks © getting its laces tied together (d) have a row with the socks and walk away.
