martyg1950 Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 and it will be someone who will show the fans NC knows what he's doing.....
sussexsaint Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 What was the context? Where has the statement come from?
buctootim Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 scunny fans talking as though Adkins has likely already gone.
gjphilsaint Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Source.. BBC 5 live who are at SMS for the commentary game this afternoon.... club spokespesron to BBC I think.. but certainly not a rumour..
martyg1950 Posted 4 September, 2010 Author Posted 4 September, 2010 5 live are covering the rochdale game, it was a sudden statement from the commentators during some pre-match talk, billed as 'news we have learned this morning at the ground' Don't shoot the messenger lol :-) So who could it be ?

The steward?
martyg1950 Posted 4 September, 2010 Author Posted 4 September, 2010 The steward? Yeah :-) to be fair it sounded like a lot more than a rumour, more like 'sources close to' else I wouldn't have posted it.
S-Clarke Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 I think we will all be very happy by mid-week, and it will show that NC does have the best interests at heart. It's just questionable about how he goes about it sometimes!
Toadhall Saint Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 I think we will all be very happy by mid-week, and it will show that NC does have the best interests at heart. It's just questionable about how he goes about it sometimes! Ruthlessly.

Onwards and upwards, hope to God he really does know what he's doing.
madruss Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 All I ask is that for once the 'new manager effect' works in OUR favour for once, and we win the new manager's first game against Swindon!
Give it to Ron Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 and it will be someone who will show the fans NC knows what he's doing..... Sounds like they have gotten that from here posted earlier by another poster: http://twitter.com/footballagent46
Deppo Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 I suggest you all get down WH SMith and get this:
Fan The Flames Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Just heard 5Live, very interesting. They nutshelled it regards the sacking; a row over Guly. The new manager will be a bit wow. Also the canvassing of Phil Brown; Saints are a big club, a challenge any manager would like, I get on very well with Les Reed.
martyg1950 Posted 4 September, 2010 Author Posted 4 September, 2010 Sounds like they have gotten that from here posted earlier by another poster: http://twitter.com/footballagent46 Oh! and that was posted 16 hours ago - old news then sorry :-) Damn thats going to Feck my week up, I'll be glued to the news, keyboard etc etc - I'm excited now :-)
Gorgiesaint Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Well 5live would be more on the ball than Talksport - Bobby Gould covering the game for them who has just said Cortese took over following the death of the Chairman!! FFS don't bother covering the game if you are that ignorant. He mentioned Zola but probably got all of his information from the stewards!

I missed the nub of that bit, ( The Guly part) phone rang at the wrong time - what was their synopsis of that? Edited 4 September, 2010 by martyg1950 clarity
Fan The Flames Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 I missed the nub of that bit, ( The Guly part) phone rang at the wrong time - what was their synopsis of that? Apparently NC texted AP to ask why Guly didn't play a larger part of the game against Bristol Rovers, this then caused the row that ultimately lead to the sacking.
Badger Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 and it will be someone who will show the fans NC knows what he's doing..... So, Martin O'Neill or KK it is then. Unless of course its Paul Hart. Just heard 5Live, very interesting. The new manager will be a bit wow. Also the embarrasingly grovelling and toadying of Phil Brown-nose; Saints are a big club, a challenge any manager would like, I get on very well with Les Reed. Just edited the last sentence of your comments.
RedArmy Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Very happy to hear that the media are saying that NC has done something good, he's not exactly the most liked person in the media so it must be a good appointment. Can't wait.
Um Bongo Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 It can't be Ian Dowie, he is wearing a pompey blue tie. So he is ruled out.
martyg1950 Posted 4 September, 2010 Author Posted 4 September, 2010 Apparently NC texted AP to ask why Guly didn't play a larger part of the game against Bristol Rovers, this then caused the row that ultimately lead to the sacking. Good Grief - whoever it is will need the skin of a Rhino then - makes it all the less likely to be a Brit either - unless there's a brilliant British manager who also happens to be a total yes man lying around unnoticed somewhere....
Saint_clark Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 and it will be someone who will show the fans NC knows what he's doing..... This rules Adkins out for me, he would be a good appointment but certainly not an "OMG, considering this Cortese was right all along" kind of thing.
David Strover Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Apparently NC texted AP to ask why Guly didn't play a larger part of the game against Bristol Rovers, this then caused the row that ultimately lead to the sacking. Yet today, with a caretaker manager in charge, one would presume NC has complete control - but lo and behold -Guly is not in the starting eleven. Weird huh? Or could it be that the above statement may not have too much of a grain of truth in it?.......
Dalek2003 Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 and it will be someone who will show the fans NC knows what he's doing..... Did he say the MAJORITY of fans ? If so it has to be Hoddle, because we can ignore the vocal minority who don't know what they are doing !
Badger Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Did he say the MAJORITY of fans ? If so it has to be Hoddle, because we can ignore the vocal minority who don't know what they are doing ! Are you still trapped in a 2004 timewarp?
Dalek2003 Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Are you still trapped in a 2004 timewarp? Dalek's ultimate quest is that of time travel.
niceandfriendly Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Sounds like they have gotten that from here posted earlier by another poster: http://twitter.com/footballagent46 What was said on there? Twitter is blocked in China.
marc_saint Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 What was said on there? Twitter is blocked in China. to Saints fans, you will have new manager by midweek. Believe in Cortese I like him. He is very clever man and club will more positive now about 17 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®
Saint_clark Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Has anyone replied with "Are you Cortese in disguise" yet?

bridge too far Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 I was a bit puzzled by Tim Flowers just stating that the club is known for its stability! I couldn't see if his tongue was firmly planted in his cheek because he was on the radio.

I couldn't see if his tongue was firmly planted in his cheek because he was on the radio. Did he have trouble getting his words out properly? That is usually a tell tell sign of tounge being in cheek.
martyg1950 Posted 4 September, 2010 Author Posted 4 September, 2010 You really need to get a grip of yourself. Yeah I know, tragic isn't it :-)
sussexsaint Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Dalek's ultimate quest is that of time travel. The irony is, a Dalek is essentially an alien in a wheelchair

SNSUN Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Twill be Roberto Donadoni - the name came to me in a dream I had...
brmbrm Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Did he say the MAJORITY of fans ? If so it has to be Hoddle, because we can ignore the vocal minority who don't know what they are doing ! You just do this now as a p!$$-take, don't you! It creases me up. (The tag-line does have a best-befoire date you know, so make the most of it now)
OldNick Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Dalek's ultimate quest is that of time travel. if you are a Space traveller , perhaps you can f### off into some......only kidding Dalek, do you live in a bungalow as Daleks can't go up stairs?
egreog Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 They need a miracle......not a manager!!...........I for one reckon the overall reaction will be "totally underwhelmed" by the new incumbent.........struggling against Rochdale........who would want the job other than some lower league journeyman manager which is frankly what we will probably get!!
St.Bart -No.1 Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Twill be Roberto Donadoni - the name came to me in a dream I had... Thought about him to, Especially when i read on Sky that he was interested in the Villa job, Although he may have knowledge of the English game not sure if that extends to League one. Can't see him being up for a trip to Dagenham and Redbridge. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6355015,00.html
offix Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 I kniow it's early in the season, but here's the way I feel about our chances: No Antonio, no Papa, no Pardew, ......no promotion
Saint-Fred Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 and it will be someone who will show the fans NC knows what he's doing..... Absolute rubbish..they are guessing...If they knew they would have said a name, the press don't care about us so if they could scoop someone else with news they would have done... Or perhaps they are now best friends with cortese and he told them and asked them to keep it quiet? If the new manager had told someone in the press and they didn't want it to come from them they would have passed it on to someone and it would have said by now.

The funny thing is Phil Brown is summarising on the Oldham game for BBC Radio 5 Live today. I guess he may have told the BBC guys that he has had an interview and maybe even been offered the job. So it may have not come from the club but the prospective candidate himself!
angelman Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Twill be Roberto Donadoni - the name came to me in a dream I had... Strange - last night I dreamed I had won £10k on the premium bonds and woke the Mrs up at 3.30am to tell her so. For some reason Jurgen Klinsmann keeps popping into my head....!
Glasgow_Saint Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Twill be Roberto Donadoni - the name came to me in a dream I had... might explain your dream..... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11677_6355015,00.html
Deppo Posted 4 September, 2010 Posted 4 September, 2010 Rumour has it that these last two performances were deliberately poor so that the new man can come in and we will start winning games and the fans will love him.

Yep heard the same.....was told that AP was deliberately bad for the last year so the real manager would look da bomb
