Hatch Posted 3 September, 2010 Share Posted 3 September, 2010 Don't suppose many are interested in intl football any more, but i fancy a 3-0 win tonight. Also, anyone remember Stoichkov, one of my favourite ever players. He was a Bulgarian.

equalizer Posted 3 September, 2010 Share Posted 3 September, 2010 The new kits ****ing horrible. Yeah shocking, all they've done is made the plackett bigger changed the collar and there seems to be some sort of airtex material sewn on where the name goes! alpine_saint Posted 4 September, 2010 Share Posted 4 September, 2010 Definitely time to say bye-bye to Terry and Lamapard on the evidence of last night. England has a coherent midfield without Lampard, and team spirit without Terry.

Hopkins Posted 4 September, 2010 Share Posted 4 September, 2010 Definitely time to say bye-bye to Terry and Lamapard on the evidence of last night. England has a coherent midfield without Lampard, and team spirit without Terry. A 4-0 win against the worst team in the group is just papering over the cracks tbf. 442 just a terrible idea, made even more terrible by expecting Gerrard to play in it, disciplined. Against a top team, an England side with Gerrard in a 442 will get ruined. In fact against a top team England will get ruined. 442 or not. Still a decent win, but much much more tougher games to come and actually nothing solved last night. Still playing 442. Still battering poor teams but as soon as a team with some quality and or discipline, we'll be asked much tougher questions.

Lol Gerrard is arguably the most complete midfielder in the whole team, it is not hidden the fact that when a youngster England never lost a game a young Gerrard played in for a long time. He can defend, he can attack and gives everything. An absolute wasted player from our so called 'golden generation' and without a doubt if we played him in his best position we would have done so much better. Lampard is a big head, and not a complete player, he is lazy and plays only one dimensional, attacking. Chelsea build a team around him, England can't do that. England need to take a continental approach and cull the elders from the squad and only pick the players that could make then next world cup, use the Euros as a training ground. Jagielka was stand put, Dawson and Cahill were good, showed they could cope with Terry/Ferdinand absence. Barry/Gerrard worked very well. Walcott, Johnson (a), and Milner looked good. The only player that looked sh*te was G Johnson whos defending is horrific at times but even his attacking was woeful against bulgaria
Andy_Porter Posted 5 September, 2010 Share Posted 5 September, 2010 Gerrard can't play in a 4-4-2 and isn't good enough to build the team around. He's a charlaton, how so many people still think he's a top player is beyond me. He's been crap for Liverpool since Alonso left and crap for England for even longer. Andy_Porter Posted 5 September, 2010 Share Posted 5 September, 2010 Rooney dropped deeeper than in the world cup yes, but still you can't expect us to do anything with Gerrard as one of the two central midfielders. His ball retention is terrible, he rarely does the simple things well and he's prone to his ridiculous Roy of the rovers England captain moments. He can be accomodated and do a job if he's played in the position Rooney played in, but he's not as good as Rooney so that would be a bad idea, just get rid of him. The quicker we bin of Gerrard, Lampard and Terry the better.
Thedelldays Posted 5 September, 2010 Share Posted 5 September, 2010 another thing that annoys me...is when pundits constantly go on about theo "not getting chalk on his boots" .....ffs his game is all about coming in from the right.....look at him already this season at arsenal..been getting in more central positions from the right and is scoring and it seems he is trying that with england... why do we (the pundits) feel the need to play out and out wingers, big man up front and a roy of the rovers in the middle..... not many nations play like that any more..yet the pundits crave it and then suggest capello has no idea.. Andy_Porter Posted 5 September, 2010 Share Posted 5 September, 2010 It's gotten to the stage where I just can't stand England anymore. A combination of the clueless pundits, media, fans etc and the fact most of the players are complete ****s - Rooney, Terry, Cole and Gerrard are four of the more senior players and they've all been cheating on their partners, just can't stand the majority of the team. Get rid of old England and let the likes of Jagielka, Johnson, Milner, Theo, Wilshere, Rodwell etc have their chance to shine. We aren't going to win anything with the "golden generation" so get rid of them all and take the gamble. Will never happen though.

Bentley Posted 5 September, 2010 Share Posted 5 September, 2010 My initial kneejerk reaction with the team is Dawson, he seems the definition of & in the England shirt from what I've seen. Jagielka seems good enough however.
