MINIBARCELONASAINT Posted 31 August, 2010 Posted 31 August, 2010 I am a ball boy at the club and Kelvin had to tell the goalkeeper the warm up routine as he had no clue, the warm up session was nothing like normal. Kelvin faced no shots from players and thus players had no shooting practise before game. Hence Kelvin spilled a lot and we had no shots.
kpturner Posted 31 August, 2010 Posted 31 August, 2010 I was in the best of health earlier, then i get back from the game and have the Squits. It may be the terrible performance, but it's more likely to be the burger I had from the van outside the ground. Or a combination of both... We need a new manager fast, or this apathy will grow. New manager, loan signings, and better performances, or Cortese better ring Lowe for tips on avoiding lynch mobs. S-Clarke Posted 31 August, 2010 Posted 31 August, 2010 I agree with alot of what you have to say Hypo. i'm also just stunned by it all, it's hard to really put it into words isn't it. All in the space of 3 weeks. It's the most surreal period in the history of this club, well for me it is anyway. The events of the last 3 weeks have just totally stunned me in many different ways.

opthomps Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 Can't say I am surprised by the reaction of most people. I was shocked too. We don't know the reasons and football moves on. Let's look to the future with some excitement. OK last night was a bad result, but we can still win promotion. We should come together more than ever. If not for the chairman or the manager, then for the club and each other. We can win at the weekend but i just wish there were some more positive vibes around, even at this difficult time. Its a long season ahead, and we can still do it.
chrisobee Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 Flat, it's all pretty much been said. I also remember supporting a friendly, family club for whom promotion in 1966 was an amazing achievement, even at the age of 10 I was able to enjoy that success and the halycon days of the 80's and 90's. Throughout that time of course we were lucky enough to attract some of the best players England had to offer but the one constant was that no matter how successful we were, who played for us Saints remained a friendly club, it had a sense of loyalty and stability. However, the last 10 years it has all changed and for the worse. I couldn't even name off the top of my head all the managers we have had in that time. There is no loyalty in football in general and certainly none any longer at Southampton. It's no wonder Matt Le Tissier is held in such high esteem, for all his faults he epitomised what this club is or at least was all about. However it seems we cannot learn the lessons of the past, I wonder if any club previously has sacked their manager after a 4-0 win ? Of course yet another new manager will be appointed soon but how many managers are going to want to come here when they are really on a hiding to nothing ? It's yet more uncertainty and you really begin to wonder if it is worth the frustration.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 Last night is the first time in eons that I haven't bothered checking the Saints score. I actually don't care one jott now. Do what you ****ing want Clotese, but I am not coming back unless you appoint someone better than Pardew. That leaves you with about 10-15 managers in this country. Until then, you can go **** yourself for spoiling what was to be my favourite season as a Saints fan. May just go watch Fulham now and then send you the receipt for everything I've bought to let you know this is money I'm not spending at Saints due to you. Dickhead.
Danbert Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 Utterly ****ed off. Why do we always end up cursed with chairman who are such utter idiots?
edprice1984 Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 I've been supporting the Saints since I can remember - nearly 22 years now. I have always felt we are no different to any other club, in terms of the chaos, disappointment, ecstacy and joy that goes with following a football club in the modern era. What has happened over the last few weeks (I include Markus' death in this) is upsetting and painful but nothing too out of the ordinary. I am still extremely confident we will get promoted. We are only 3 games into the season, are big names are starting to find their form (I am quite happy at the moment to count last night as a blip, if we continue in the same vain on Saturday I will obviously reassess) and we all know the few areas that need strengthening. I do find it incredible that some people on this forum and on others think that we are going to go out and sign loads of players, some of Premier League standard with no regard to any possible wage structure and financial stability. I am still optomistic, I will admit to being a little annoyed that we have got rid of a very capable manager in Alan Pardew. I think Mr Cortese may have made a mistake, and to be fair (in my opinion, he hasn't made many so far) - but we will have to see. The players we have should be good enough to secure promotion no matter who is in charge. I have been a little disappointed with the lack of transfer activity in general, but the 25 man squad rule has had alot to do with that. Watch out for 5pm tonight and a flurry of activity in the loan transfer market. We may see some more players coming in then...I have no ITK or actually factual evidence to back this up by the way! COYR - WIFM
ohwhenthesaints Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 Very flat and disappointed with how this season is panning out already. It was all looking so positive over the summer with Cortese coming out and backing Pardew and then with the win on Saturday it looked like our season was about to take off. Since then we have lost a manager that the majority of fans liked and been humiliated in the first round of the competition we won last year. I can't describe how depressing going to last night's game was, you could literally see us falling apart at the seams. We are now hearing that the decision for a new manager will not be rushed, but why wasn't a replacement lined up before sacking Pardew? Will we ever find out the reason that led to Pardew needing to be removed so quickly and possibly blowing our chances in the next few games? I expect us to lose on Saturday now and, if a new manager is not found by next Saturday, for us to get dicked by Swindon again. We can only hope that Cortese picks the right man for the job now and that Pardew doesn't come back to poach our best players when he gets a new job at a club higher in the ladder.
docker-p Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 I know I posted this on the other thread, but it belongs here too: Not sure what to say. Everything I have been told over the past few months appears to have had a lot of substance. It gives me no pleasure but that performance was clearly influenced by Pardew's sacking. I cannot disagree with you more strongly Weston. The players have CLEARLY been affected by this. I was no huge Pardew fan but to sack him the day before the window closes when he was looking to bring in more faces is just madness. I am totally deflated by both the awful performance tonight but also by the feeling that part of me wanted us to lose. I just feel so ashamed that we have acted with no loyalty and like we are becoming a lower league Man City. The way I feel at the moment, I don't think we deserve another victory. For me, supporting Southampton is about sharing an experience with other fans. About watching players who play with commitment and above themselves but above all it's about me feeling connected with the club and a feeling that "we are all in this together." For me Cortese has ruined this. It has become an "us and them" scenario with the views of supporters no longer encouraged and no longer listened to. MLT and Benali are discouraged from coming to games and the thought of that just depresses me hugely. Southampton used to be a family, a small club who punched above their weight and who had a great laugh doing it. I now feel detached from the club in the same way that I did during the end of Lowe's reign, except that this time there is nothing I can do to affect change. Cortese feels that Southampton is his baby, well it's not. SFC is owned by the fans who will be here long after you have left with your ridiculous ideas which have made myself and many other supporters feel isolated and like no one cares about supporters anymore. Call me stupid but I liked the fact that the press and others clubs had a soft spot for us. I liked the fact that we never paid mega bucks for players but that we had our own home grown heroes who gave a sh*t typified by the wonderful MLT. I look at the various things which have happened this summer and I just shake my head and wonder where it all went wrong. I'm not debating the rights or wrongs of these decisions, but they really have left me feeling like I am losing my club. The thought of having a smaller version of Chelsea as a club in the premiership in a few years makes me want to go down the road and support Eastleigh. I am incredibly sad tonight. Sums it up perfectly for me. We will probably get to the promised land soon, but will we recognise our club when we arrive? Southampton FC is a community club like so many from Sunderland to Swansea, and trying to run it like one of the big metropolitan franchise clubs (Chelsea etc) isn't going to work. Part of that local community, like it or not, is the Echo, the small businesses, local fans, and local heroes, all of whom have been given the cold shoulder way way or another by NC's juggernaut for success.

Welcome to English football in the 21st Century. If you dont like this, the obvious solution is to turn away from the professional game in terms of where to patronise with your support. I go to watch my sons team play and have helluva lot more fun than when at SMS, I must say.

Kaiser Soze Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 Any idea when we're going to hear from AP? Would like to hear his version of events....
S-Clarke Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 Any idea when we're going to hear from AP? Would like to hear his version of events.... We never will, he would have almost certainly been forced to sign an NDA.
alpine_saint Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 We never will, he would have almost certainly been forced to sign an NDA. Yep. We will learn as much about this as we will about the truth behind the resignation of WGS.
Toadhall Saint Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 Glad we're out the JPT in a way. Annoyed/surprised NC didn't have a manager waiting in the wings before sacking Pardew. Hopeful of someone in advance of Saturday. This
sperm_john Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 I would describe my mood as 'confused' or if i was a smiley ...i would be :S
Saint_Ash Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 We'll be alright, a monkey should be able to come in and get us promoted. Managerial position needs to be sorted quick though and I think whoever it is we should get behind them (unless it's Hart of course). Totally nonplussed about going out of the paint trophy, we have won the thing, now we need to concentrate on winning the league. Whoever comes in doesn't have silly distractions of the JPT and the Carling cup, which I think makes us look more attractive. I don't think people should be panicking and wetting themselves just yet, the season has only just started. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 Yep. We will learn as much about this as we will about the truth behind the resignation of WGS. And we all know why that happened, stupid Ginger prat.
Saint Luke Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 Just when you thought it was safe to be a Saint they kick you in the n*ts! Embarrassed as well - all my mates are laughing.
oldsarum Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 I don't think many people are worried about getting knocked out of JPT and Carling Cup, but IMO many peoaple would be worried about the style of last nights defeat, when we were really poor, which given how well we played on Saturday with 9 of last nights starting 11 has to be worrying.
derry Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 People should be careful what they wish for. I wouldn't think there are too many people around with the resources to run a debt free club. The day Cortese finds he doesn't want to do this any more is the day we will be put up for sale. Bearing in mind the purchase price there is a better than tidy profit to be had by our present owners. Then the real nightmare could begin, bought by chancers, mortgaged up to the hilt and on a downward spiral. I don't give a damn that a pretty average manager has been sacked, I do give a big damn that this club doesn't pour this marvelous opportunity down the pan by gross over-reaction. Pardew is going to be replaced, Wilkins is probably going to do a Dodd/Gorman for a week or two but from there on in with a proper footballing manager we could well be flying. I don't want to see Cortese decide he doesn't need this crap.

RonManager Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 I feel that one majorly positive thing that has come out of this recent eruption is that, like him and his methods or not, we can be pretty sure now of Cortese's allegiance to SFC and his fierce intention that by hook or by crook, our club is going to succeed. I think that any concerns that he might give up on us in the wake of Markus' untimely departure can now be put to bed. Keep the Faith. COYS.
Saint J 77 Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 I feel as low as I did the day I found out Rupert Lowe had returned to the club. It all looked so rosie after Saturday's win. Then Mondays news comes out of the blue. I think will set us back at least another season in this league. I'm not even sure we will ever get out of it now. A new manager has to get to know the team and introduce his own tactics thats not going to happen over night. Plus some players probably will want to leave as they signed for up to play for Pardew. I just can't see us having a good season now. Cortese might have bought us the money but if he is going to rule with an iron fist we might be better off with a chancer taking over. I'd hope they would keep a good manager in and not make such a hasty decision. We will never get out this division with any of the mangers on the potential list thats been mentioned so far. I'm so fed up with it all right now. Losing in the manner we did to Swindon last night was just rubbing salt in the wound.
