I heard him myself following an interview at Dean Court (and my best friend is a journalist down there).

Nah, you're still not convincing anyone!

haha, good one! Apart from that bit, whichg ave away the lie, you almost had me going!

So when people ask for a source and I then give them one, people still have a go. Ho hum. I'm often down at the Bournemouth Stadium and on occasion I get to go to the press interviews afterwards.

Same here, think Magilton would actually be an alright appointment.

Hes a total nutjob, has lost 2 jobs because of fighting with players.

He will play pretty passing football but has no plan b. If a team is going to shut up shop, expect a lot of draws.

Still, better than Hart though. Youll be playing a 631 at home to Rochdale trying to squeeze out a 1-0 win.

Why does he hate us Hypo?

Absolutely no idea. My friend mentioned he was a saints fan and was told quite strongly not to mention that because Howe 'doesn't like it.' He said he didn't like the attitude of Southampton and a Cherries fan was talking about Southampton and he said he would never go there.

Stranger things have happened but I would be surprised if it did. My friend (the journalist) is adamant that he won't come here.

Who knows what's true, but Howe's past sentiments about Saints may be to do with his strong Portsmuff links (and the bravado therein), not only as an ex player but also due to his closeness to Kevin Bond and Redkrapp. Surprising what a management opportunity at a real football club can do to one's past feelings and principles!

Ask 'arry...

Who is this guy? The link doesn't work for me. Another Mark Wotte type?

Used to be S****horpe's physio, got given their caretaker manager job in 2006 before being appointed permanently. The next season he won League One. The following season they were relegated from the Champ. He then got them promoted from League One again and they stayed up in the Champ last season. Their budget is tiny.

So basically, two promotions from League One in two full seasons in League One. Good credentials in League One but only been a manager for four years.

If we're looking for an up-and-coming manager then he probably has better credentials than most. No doubt there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth if he gets the gig though.

Personally I would go for someone like Mowbray over him but he might be a decent candidate.

I'm not reading much into significant moves in the odds because nobody's got a clue right now, very few people are laying money down, and even a relatively small bet can dramatically change the odds on offer.

And these candidates who have done well on a small budget are - given where we hope to be going - unlikely to be hired for that very reason.

Ha! Thats the most equivocal 'distancing' ive seen for quite a while :)

"I'm pretty committed to where I am at present, so on Saturday I'll be an Exeter City manager."

So he's committed to staying there for at least 2 more days.

As always in these circumstances and heaven knows it's happened to us enough in recent years the bookies has as little idea as you or I as to who the new manager will be. As a result even a £50 bet on someone, maybe less, will set alarm bells ringing and the price falling like a stone. However, clueless though they are the bookies invariably make a killing on new manager markets for that very reason. One or two bets, suddenly from nowhere Bob the Builder is the new favourite, others follow and soon he's 1/5 to get the job but never does. Pointless market, only a fool or someone who really does know for definite who the manager is going to be would place a bet though I'm willing to bet the bookies are on the look out for any dodgy looking Italians having a wager ;)

I wouldn't read too much into manager markets, it only takes a small amount to move odds dramatically

I had £5 on Pardew at 20/1 last summer & within 5mins he was 12/1

Just searched the skybet website and couldn't find it anywhere. Do you think this means they know who the next manager will be?

Oooh friend? Journalist friend!

He was very complimentary about us in his interview after the Carling cup game. Didn't sound like a man who hates us.

Bricklaying?

You've only got to watch an episode to see the gaffer Builder knows about team spirit and getting the best from his workforce.

"Can we would walk this league? Yes we can!"

New manager markets are always removed over night, haven't checked but it is usually restored about 9am.

I really think with all the comings and goings at Saints there should be a "sticky" pointing out what some of us always point out that the market is taken down over night so the bookies don't have to monitor it ! You've been on here long enough though silversaint you should know that by now ;)

I hate these markets. Before Scolari was installed at Chelsea, I had a call from a pal saying that Brian Laudrup was favourite. And I can't say who/what he was, but let's say there was only one/two people better placed to know. So I try to have a crafty bet on Laudrup at 50/1 and even just for asking they slashed his odds to 33s! And then let me have no more than £50 on... Still I got the last laugh when Scolari was installed... err....
