17/0 off 3.5 overs on what is usually a result wicket at Liverpool.

Adams out for 5 but not before completing 1,000 championship runs for the season.

On a separate note Derbyshire v Gloucester. Derby are 23/7 off 8 overs!!! James Franklin 6 for 10 of 4 overs

All of a sudden our 62/5 from 23 overs is looking positively wonderful.

Of all the days,to have one of our few batting collapses of the whole season. We have the most batting points in division 1,which is

testimony to how well we have batted this year.

At least Warwickshire are having their usual collapse as well, and with a bit of luck,we will be enough points clear of them, not to worry about the outcome of the game at -The Rose Bowl.

Hampshire have confirmed they have loaned KP to Surrey for the rest of the season following an approach from ECB. Makes sense, we have no room for him, he needs to try to recover his England form and Surrey are in the 2nd division and cannot affect our relegation struggle.

Strange day and not a good one for us with only some late resistance getting us to 160, Lancs 124/2.

Afraid Warwickshire had a very good day in the end. From 107/7 to 176/9 and then 118 for the last wicket, Tahir hit 69 off 74 balls ! Kent 37/3 in reply. So they could well win and we lose which puts a different complexion on our game with them though luckily Kent are below us as well.

Derby were all out for 44 and now 127/4 after Gloucs made 156. 24 wickets in one day.

Coming back into match, new ball due in 4 overs,it is absolutely vital we keep lead below 50/60 maximum. With Warwickshire unbelievably in a winning position[largely due to Tahir with the bat-what irony].

Kent away next week is absolutely vital, and if Hants and Kent lose the current games, which could be quite likely, then our game against Kent,we just cannot lose,Hopefully it will not have to come down to us beating Warwickshire last game to stay up.

Did I read somewhere we were signing Arnie Sidebottom next season????

Will that not hinder Woods progress?

would probably help it, isnt Sidey centrally contracted? For one dayers, if there are different varieties on central contract, so Woodster would get plenty of games while he's away but would have a quality mentor when he's available

or have i just talked awesome guff?

No that makes sense - Cork has been brilliant for the youngsters this season its just I want us to continue playing the youngsters like Woods and Briggs .

There is no way [unfortunately],we are going to save this game. It is entirely in our hands though as we have Kent and Warwickshire

to play.It goes without saying, that it is absolutely imperative, that we do not lose at Canterbury next week.If we can win the toss, that would greatly improve our chances, after all that is a factor in why we are going to lose this current game against Lancs.

Would desperately love to be proved wrong on the current game though.

hantscricket@twitter saying we need another 37 points to avoid relegation ! Maths was never my strong point but surely unless we win both our next games thats near impossible.....

I can't be bothered to work it out but 99% sure they are saying that is how many we would need IF Kent get maximum possible points from their last 2 games and Warwickshire getting maximum points from their last game. However, since we are playing both it's not relevant as it definitely is mathematically impossible for Kent and Warwickshire to get maximum points and us to get 37 points ! Kent like us have only won 2 games all season, Warwickshire have won 5 which is why they are in with a chance of survival. A draw v Lancs would be a great help but failing that a win in either of our 2 games will almost certainly be enough as would 2 draws. Win both and we might get 37 points !

Adams out for 194. Lancs need 168 off about 32 overs.

stranger things have happened at sea but my guess is they'll chase that down comfortably enought. Over 5 an over is steep for a CC game but if they want the win it'll be pretty easy i'd have thunk

do we get an extra batting point for passing 400? forget where the points are dished out...

fine effort by the man adams. already a star for us maybe greater things lie ahead for him, good for him but bad for us!!

168 off minimum of 31 overs is what I make it but if they are taking tea they will not lose the 2 for change over so then 33 overs. In any event 5 an over with no fielding or bowling restrictions.

Brilliant innings by Adams. Looks like the new ball got him!

Let's not forget Briggs who faced 97 balls for his 15 not out. Shared a partnership of 88 in 42.5 overs

Lancashire just favourites but a few early wickets with the new ball might just rock them
