Tony Lynam Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 I'm writing this full in the knowledge that some people will decide to throw abuse my way. But I cannot bite my lip. Matt is entitled to an opinion, as is everybody. His opinion matters more than most as he put his life and soul into Southampton Football Club, turning down potentially lucrative opportunities elsewhere, because he is a man of honour. I know this for a fact and have to pleasure of calling him a friend. So when he makes a comment, please please keep a lid on it. He is not trying to reinvent the wheel here, he is merely expressing his own personal opinion in response to a question. His opinion is quite clear and I can categorically tell you all that it has nothing to do with his involvement with a potential takeover. It is quite simply Matt expressing his views about a club that he holds dear to his heart. If you decide to abuse me then that's a shame, but I wish you all the best regardless. Tony Tony, can you answer a simple question ? Is there a feud going on between Matty and Cortese ?
Tony Lynam Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 Alpine. I am sincerely not trying to dodge your question, but I cannot speak for Matt so you would have to ask him that yourself. It is fair to say that he has a different approach and opinion on certain issues than Mr Cortese.

Tony Tony, to be fair, you nearly did more damage to the club than Cortese could ever do. I think Matt should choose his friends a little more wisely. Redondo Saint Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 The Echo have published one sentence. Big deal. Another opportunity for the paper to have a dig at the club

I think Matt should choose his friends a little more wisely. Wade. You are entitled to your opinion, and I respect that right. You are however fairly wide of the mark. Sadly from the outside, I understand how it may have looked without the full knowledge of what was going on at that time. But I can assure you, we were employed to do a job and we fulfilled our end of the bargain, the backers did not. But I made my comment (above) in response to some inaccurate thoughts I read, not in any way in relation to our clients failed takeover, or indeed Mr Cortese. I have no ill feeling towards either. Stu Man Do Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 The only difference between ourselves on this forum and MLT in this scenario is that he is associated to the media and therefore his views will recieve wider audience. That and the fact that for most of my early Saints supporting life he WAS southampton fc means IMO let him have his say. Hes a grown man and if he wants to have a pop at Cortese he is fully entitled to do so.

itchen Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 MLT occupies a special pace in all our hearts, which means when he says something, not only does everyone listen but various forces attempt to use his comments in a way to suit their agenda. I am willing to accept this was intended to be an innocuous comment reacting to the news and the reasons being bandied about for it, and I have always been sure that his involvment with Pinnacle was nothing more than him trying to do his bit to save the club. But why does he allow himself to be put in this position, FFS ? Because, as our most noted player of recent years, who has a huge association with, and affection for, the club he is often asked his opinion. And being, as far as I can tell, an honest and open sort of chap, he answers the questions put. Some people give their opinions without even being asked, of course. itchen Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 Imagine West Ham fans asking Brooking to keep quite about Wham issues. A lady in my office and her husband are good friends with Pardew and his wife and she says its obvious why he went. Basically Pardew does get peoples backs up, is so full of himself and properly hasnt given NC any respect, just attitude. It's the most blatant personality clash ever. Bloody hell. I'd hate to hear her talk about someone she wasn't "good friends" with.
up and away Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 Actually if you read it they asked a question and then got a quote. Then typical Echo ran a totally different story regarding it.The Question was "Alan Pardew was sacked as Saints boss because of poor staff morale and player unrest" This was answered by "It certainly didn’t look like any of the players had any problem with the manager when they hammered Bristol Rovers, so it seems a bizarre thing for someone to suggest". So basically the Echo has taken what he said and then made a story up trying to say MLT is having a pop at the club. When actually he is saying to the reporter that it would be bizarre to say AP was sacked because of poor morale. Well Done again Echo. I am afraid you are wasting good **** trying to cool these numpties down. All MLT said was that the rumours spread by the Echo in the first place did not seem logical. The Echo then take that quip and come out with the headline "Le Tiss hits out at 'bizarre' claims" Then pad the story out with another load of biased rhetoric to give the impression of something completely different. What a total load of ******, backed up by those who stand firmly behind MLT's decision to say this, even though it was nothing of the kind. St. Jason Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/8361492.Le_Tiss_hits_out_at__bizarre__claims/ Club legend and club CEO on collision course is only going to be disruptive to the team. Has MLT got some sort of feud going on with NC over the take-over business ? No Matthew Le Tissier is a football pundit, he is paid for his opinion about football in general and more importantly as an ex player with massive ties and loyalty to the club is a natural person for the media to turn to for an opinion! Instead of blindly following Cortesse and turning on a genuine FOOTBALLING legend maybe you should open your eyes and question some of Cortesse's decisions- No payment plan No season ticket renewal notices No photographers Car park charges No manager!!!! sadoldgit Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 We were told that ML didn't come to the last game because he was p*ssed off with not getting promotion. We were told that ML didn't make thelast game because he couldn't get a flight. We were told that there were problems at training. We were told there were not. Dontcha just love this transparency malarky! If The Echo want to wheel out an old legend to have his say so be it. Why shouldn't he add his twopenneth to all of the other dodgy rumours doing the rounds.

Please, please, please can this be cut and saved somewhere, this statement sums you up 100%! The first 4 point are massive slap in the faces for the long suffering, loyal, paying customers. You agree with the sacking of Pardew?? He's lost 13 games, won our first trophy in 34 years and has a win ratio of 53%, can't wait to see who we get better than that! RobM Posted 31 August, 2010 Share Posted 31 August, 2010 What's the difference between MLT, the Southampton fan and football pundit, expressing his opinion in the press... and those Saints fans who got their mug in the paper tonight, expressing their opinion in the press? Other than one of the two are paid to express their opinion in the press, of course?
