gaz Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 Seeing as the transfer window closes tomorrow night, will be see NC making a move today/tomorrow? Or play the longer game of getting the best possible person for the job? I think the shortlist has been drawn up for some time, NC won't want to hang around with bringing in his target.
Saint_clark Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 I would hope he's already got his new man ready to start work.
Robsk II Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 One rumour that I heard from a mate who is well connected to his arms suggests that JEFF KENNA will be manager.
kpturner Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 one rumour that i heard from a mate who is well connected to his arms suggests that jeff kenna will be manager. lol !
Matthew Le God Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 The BBC Radio Solent fans forum is on Friday, if a decent manager isn't appointed by then, that meeting will be very interesting.
S-Clarke Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 The BBC Radio Solent fans forum is on Friday, if a decent manager isn't appointed by then, that meeting will be very interesting. good point MLG....either way, that is going to be a very very interesting forum. Cortese is going to get a very rough ride, hope he's ready for it.
Saint_clark Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 The BBC Radio Solent fans forum is on Friday, if a decent manager isn't appointed by then, that meeting will be very interesting. Has anything been said about that since the original announcement?
itchen_dan Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 The BBC Radio Solent fans forum is on Friday, if a decent manager isn't appointed by then, that meeting will be very interesting. Wouldn't surprise me if Cortese cancels it!

Saint Billy Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 I'm hoping that they have already got someone and that someone is advising NC who to buy before the transfer window shuts.
Saint_clark Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 Wouldn't surprise me if Cortese cancels it! Unless they cancel it! Exactly what I was thinking.
paulwantsapint Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 NC could really kill 2 birds with 1 stone say nothing all week ( except possibly DW to rin players to new boss tactics ) then introduce new manager at fans forum on fri
gaz Posted 31 August, 2010 Author Posted 31 August, 2010 I think after tonights show, we'll be seeing an appointment in the next 48hrs.
alpine_saint Posted 31 August, 2010 Posted 31 August, 2010 Will be another week or 2 yet. Only if he hasnt got a clue. If he has someone already, it will be announced tomorrow after this debacle tonight.
NickG Posted 31 August, 2010 Posted 31 August, 2010 The BBC Radio Solent fans forum is on Friday, if a decent manager isn't appointed by then, that meeting will be very interesting. No its not, no date fixed.
gaz Posted 31 August, 2010 Author Posted 31 August, 2010 No its not, no date fixed. If he didn't want AP around just as he was getting going, then I can't see NC wanting to tread water with Wilkins for a fortnight.
S-Clarke Posted 31 August, 2010 Posted 31 August, 2010 Only if he hasnt got a clue. If he has someone already, it will be announced tomorrow after this debacle tonight. Solent have spoken to the club, and they say a ''process will be started and time will be taken to ensure the right person is appointed (i thought we already had the right person?).'' - so no one imminent.
Rebel Posted 31 August, 2010 Posted 31 August, 2010 I am assuming Cortese has written off promotion this season
S-Clarke Posted 31 August, 2010 Posted 31 August, 2010 I am assuming Cortese has written off promotion this season Don't think so ''However, we are taking these steps to achieve our aims, which we share with all supporters, to get promoted this season,''
alpine_saint Posted 31 August, 2010 Posted 31 August, 2010 I am assuming Cortese has written off promotion this season If he has, he had better start planning for the replacement of half the team when they quit.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 31 August, 2010 Posted 31 August, 2010 Solent have said that a decision will not be made this week and Wilkins seemed pretty certain that it would be himself readying the team for Saturday. Wonderful - we can kiss another 3 home points away then based on tonights performance.
1976_Child Posted 31 August, 2010 Posted 31 August, 2010 No. not b4 saturday. but it is essential we have a new man in b4 the colchester game. ideally b4 the mk dons game to give him a bit less pressure away from home on his first game.

I'd expect a new man in tomorrow because it ****ing obvious that Pardew has been a dead man walking for months so someone else should surely have been found before AP was sacked. But i have a concern. What would it say about a manager as a person if he'd agreed to take a job once the incumbant had been removed? I know this happens all the time in businesses, but doesn't it go against a managerial code when it's football managers? Edited 1 September, 2010 by dune
westofshannonsaint Posted 31 August, 2010 Posted 31 August, 2010 One rumour that I heard from a mate who is well connected to his arms suggests that JEFF KENNA will be manager. lol ! Kenna isn't a bad manager actually - if we were looking for a cheap option, but I do expect someone with a better cv. & the sooner the better

I reckon Lowe (sorry, Cortese) had a mighty bust up with AP and on the spur of the moment sacked him. Now he has nothing up his sleave and is ****ed.
Appy Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 If we don't have a new guy in by saturday then i pray we have one in before swindon away. I really can't stand getting beat by that lot AGAIN.
Hamilton Saint Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 can't agree. I reckon Lowe (sorry, Cortese) had a mighty bust up with AP and on the spur of the moment sacked him. Now he has nothing up his sleave and is ****ed. But why sack the other two? It's the fact that all three went at the same time which is the most important point to remember.
1976_Child Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 But why sack the other two? It's the fact that all three went at the same time which is the most important point to remember. maybe they walked in solidarity.
dune Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 can't agree. I reckon Lowe (sorry, Cortese) had a mighty bust up with AP and on the spur of the moment sacked him. Now he has nothing up his sleave and is ****ed. Possibly, but it all goes back to when Clotese went the press to say AP basically needed to buck his ideas up and the Pards had a pop back in public. From then on in it was over between them, so im of the view that clotese should have sacked AP last season, and i said this on here, because i knew full well that it would have better done then than now. I received buckets of abuse for saying NC should sack last year, but i so wish he had and the abuse i received had been tenfold worse because it would have been better for the club. When i think about it i cannot think of a single thing that cortese has done that been an improvement (the liebherrs money payed for the team) but i can think of lots of things clotese has done that have been errors of judgement.

WHICH weekend. If this was " a planned sacking ", the new man should have been in place by Monday afternoon. WHO is going to make the decision ..based on Cortese's knowledge of English lower league foorball? .......IF we 'd had a DOF in place ..the job might have been easier. An Italian banker ... interviewing a fast-talking third rate English manager ...might be fooled by anyone. I hope he doesn't throw " the short list " in the waste basket afterwards, I have a dreadful feeling that he might have to return to it a few more times before next May.
