saint lard Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 Perhaps Pardew requested the opportunity to speak to Villa..........Cortese takes the matter in his own hands, see you later Mr Pardew. Just a theory.
St.Patrik Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 If thats true then Fonte and KD will follow him there for sure - at least Fonte I say (Im only guessing ofourse)
S-Clarke Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 Don't think he's the level of manager they're looking at.
Nadia Sllim Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 O'Neil in charge of Saints, then England sack Capello and O'Neil leaves Saints after 2 games to manage England! Pardew to manage Leceister City!
Hatch Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 I'm sure Villa fans would be dancing in the streets of Birmngham if they thought they could get Pardew
Jeff Le Taxi Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 Saints fans would be dancing in the streets of Southampton if they thought they could land Martin O'Neil!
Saint J 77 Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 Saints fans would be dancing in the streets of Southampton if they thought they could land Martin O'Neil! They would, but its never going to happen!!
Sheff Saint Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 Can't see the whole staff getting the boot thou in that scenario. Sent from my T-Mobile_G2_Touch using Tapatalk
Pilchards Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 Saw that on the huddersfiled forum, I don't buy it either. AP was sacked because the results before the Rovers game are not good enough. If it continued at home to Rochdale and the MK Dons then its another two games wasted. There is plenty of time for a new manager to come in and work with the best players in this league, we just need tweaking.
Chez Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 timing allows the new manager, Zolo, if the rumours well before the sacking are anything to go by, to sign the players he wants before the window closes.

sadoldgit Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 The most sensible analysis of the situation I have read. What all 2 league games not good enough? If we had continued in those next games the way we did against Rovers no problem and no tweeking needed.
Mr Saints Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 Pardew to West Ham in a couple of weeks is more likely.
Smirking_Saint Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 Lol Pardew won't get anywhere near a premiership team ffs
RedAndWhite91 Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 Lol Pardew won't get anywhere near a premiership team ffs He has before, and done well, why not?
Smirking_Saint Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 He has before, and done well, why not? Because he is not good enough basically. He did ok at West Ham but not great and has been banging on about it ever since. TBF, if he was properly backed he would have done well for us but seeing he clearly wasn't i am glad he has been given the boot early, no point dragging it out. I just wish that it was done at the end of the season so we could have bedded in a new man over the pre-season break. Thats what i am p*ssed off at NC for, not the sacking but the timing. Zola, Southgate, Blackwell could all do better jobs. I would even welcome Howe but think we need a biggish name in order to keep our best players (lallana, fonte, Lambert) at the club.
Kingsland Red Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 Interesting one, because my mate told me yesterday he saw Pardew in the stand at Villa Park, before this all kicked off .............................

If you watched Sheffield United last season like I did then you would not suggest Blackwell could do a job for us, let alone a better one.

Interesting if this is the case. Lloyd James was seen in the stand on Saturday against Bristol Rovers. Pardew's replacement?
St. Jason Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 Don't think he's the level of manager they're looking at. so their no looking for a manager with Premiership experience or a manger with a good pedigree in the cups, guess Man Utd fans should brace themselves for the worst!
St. Jason Posted 30 August, 2010 Posted 30 August, 2010 timing allows the new manager, Zolo, if the rumours well before the sacking are anything to go by, to sign the players he wants before the window closes. Timing allows no time what so ever, I thought the window closed tomorrow? I think it's a shocking decision, if Cortesse was only prepared to give him 3 games he should of just bit the bullet and sacked him last May. Sure there would of been a lot of unhappy fans (me included) but if it'd been explained properly that Alan was not the man for the new owners, that they wanted to act now to enable the new man time to build his team, to mould his players and to install his own tactics and style of playing, most would have accepted it!
SaintRichmond Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 Can't see the whole staff getting the boot thou in that scenario. Sent from my T-Mobile_G2_Touch using Tapatalk I agree, I think it "odd" that all three leave at the same instant You only do that if you have a cast iron certainty replacment ready to wheel out

SaintRichmond Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 And you know this how exactly??? I think he had access to a League Table, when, at the time, we only had ONE POINT

Saint Garrett Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 Don't we get compensation if pardew left to go to villa, whereas if we sacked him we would have to pay out his contract? This is why I can't see this being the case
Smirking_Saint Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 Hahaha you were doing so well up to that point.......................... Yeah i winced a little when i wrote his name
Smirking_Saint Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 so their no looking for a manager with Premiership experience or a manger with a good pedigree in the cups, guess Man Utd fans should brace themselves for the worst! Hardly much prem experience, you can name 100's of managers who have been in the prem at some point. Steve Wigley has premiership experience ffs. Did well in the cups ? He won the JPT trophy with a team that spent sh*t loads considering the league and came runner up in the FA Cup. Straws and clutching spring to mind.
up and away Posted 1 September, 2010 Posted 1 September, 2010 Don't we get compensation if pardew left to go to villa, whereas if we sacked him we would have to pay out his contract? This is why I can't see this being the case This from a CEO who has not bothered with a shirt sponsor for this year? Cortese's main focus is on promotion and that level of cost does not really come into it. I said this last season, that IF Pardew asked to speak to another club, he would be gone immediately and I can only see that being underlined now. It's a plausible theory but no more than that, until someone spills the beans. The one small bell this does trigger, is when news of Pardews sacking came to light, this Villa angle was highlighted on a non Saints site very early on. Something definitely happened in regards to the training ground or set up, but I cannot as yet see that as being sufficient on it's own. Lallana's injury may have been a tipping point should facts now point to bad management. Cortese had committed to Pardew in terms of time and resources and I feel it would be more than those first two bad league results that did the damage. If Cortese felt there was a slight chance of having to replace Pardew at exactly this time into the season, I firmly believe he would have been gone before the end of last season.
