Appy Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 I think we can all agree it is highly unlikely it will be today.
Under Weststand Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Probable announcement 11.23pm tonight. At least I will be home from work by then. Or maybe not!
B Rabbit Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Yes, 2 things. 1) Some idiot made up that a manager would be announced today, so lots of people are coming on here to check every 5 seconds. I am an idiot =(
buctootim Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Put £50 on WGS at 50-1 (had to ask for price as he was unquoted), still 40-1 this morning and now 14-1. Not ITK so I must just be damn smart lol.
Appy Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Surprised Brentford's Andy Scott hasn't been mentioned, just as good credentials as Eddie Howe anyway.
shirleysfc Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Jeff Kenna's odds have come right in... WTF!!!
buctootim Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Jeff Kenna's odds have come right in... WTF!!! Think it just shows that one bet can move the market.
Window Cleaner Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Jeff Kenna's odds have come right in... WTF!!! there should be a law against bookies profiting from people's idiocy, betting on WGS, kenna,MLT and all that sort of candidate is just gifting them money. If it's burning a hole in your pocket give it to Unicef or something FFS.

If it's burning a hole in your pocket give it to Unicef or something FFS. WGS is not idiocy. Hes managed here before, popular here, hes uncomfortable at Middlesboro, lives locally, presumably attractive to Cortese given his history of managing Saints in prem - hes at 50-1 whilst MON is evens. um I wonder which the better bet is. Dr Who? Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Jeff Kenna's odds have come right in... WTF!!! I am sure the bookies just shorten the odd's just so punters put money on. they are probably watching this site and laughing while the money roles in, and Saints hire a managr that is not even on the list! lol

Again if Martin O Neil is our new manager then that bet would the better bet, but if WGS gets in then that would be the better bet. Does not mater what the odd's are it has to come in!
Redbul Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Jeff Kenna's odds have come right in... WTF!!! Oooh aaah....
Tokyo-Saint Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Phil Brown is still short odds with VC: Phil Brown 5/4 Nigel Adkins 2/1 Gianfranco Zola 6/1 Eddie Howe 8/1 Tony Mowbray 10/1 Martin O'Neill 10/1 Alan Shearer 12/1 Gareth Southgate 12/1 Glenn Hoddle 12/1 Rolf Fringer 12/1 Jeff Kenna 12/1 Paul Buckle 14/1 Ian Dowie 14/1 Jim Magilton 14/1 Paul Hart 16/1 Kevin Blackwell 16/1 Chris Coleman 16/1 Paul Jewell 16/1 Steve Clarke 16/1 Dennis Wise 16/1 Paul Ince 20/1 Gary Megson 20/1 Micky Adams 22/1 Sven Goran Eriksson 25/1 Dean Wikins 25/1 Steve Coppell 25/1 Kevin Keegan 25/1 Chris Wilder 25/1 Alan Knill 28/1 Jim Gannon 28/1 Alan Curbishley 33/1 Paul Tisdale 33/1 Dan Petrescu 40/1 Carlton Palmer 66/1 Matthew Le Tissier 100/1 Odds From VCbet
Crazy Diamond Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 I'm currently stationed at a leading football magazine. (Sorry to add to the list of people who are supposedly ITK, but I am genuinely here). From what we can gather, it's down to two names, Adkins being the first choice. I've only got two posts left today as I don't have a full membership to the forum, so I'll use them wisely. There is doubt over the announcement being made today, I have been informed.
thorpie the sinner Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Adkins back into favourite, O'Neil back out to 3's and 8's respectively. The Adkins move is beginning to roll!
Channon's Sideburns Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Well if Adkins is first choice, my guess is him and Brown.
K,Billy's supersound Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 the next manager wont be MoN, Brown or Zola i'd bet on Adkins or Howe they are the young english managers in the frame most likley to get it atm.
Chez Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 I don't see a price for Andy Scott on that VC list.
Appy Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 People that think that its O'Neil are so deluded, fairly sure it will be Adkins or Howe. Like i said i am surprised Scott hasn't got a mention.
harefieldsaint Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 No odd's for Guus either. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southampton_F.C.
bigd316316 Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Was messing around with Wikipedia last night..... interesting read!!!
The Dogman Of Bassett Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Is there a bookies in Southampton taking bets on this? Every one I have been to are not betting on it, would appear to be online only.
smithy Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Was messing around with Wikipedia last night..... interesting read!!! Who is Nigel Atkins?

buctootim Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Is there a bookies in Southampton taking bets on this? Every one I have been to are not betting on it, would appear to be online only. Ladbrokes will usually quote for most things in the shop, or most bookies will take bets by phone.
Nolan Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 interesting couple of tweets.... @JamesMawFFT :Alan Shearer or Nigel Adkins for the Southampton job. You heard it here first (unless you heard it somewhere else) (via @KitCox) @FootballAgent46: @JamesMawFFT you're half right on the final two. so the selection is down to two and one of the two is either Shearer or Adkins?

Well I don't reckon it's Shearer
Crazy Diamond Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 James Maw got that information from me by the way.

Saw that. Cant think of any way on earth NC would prefer Shearer to Adkins, hopefully. So between Adkins and someone else - possibly WGS imo.
itchen_dan Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 I reckon that it's Nigel Adkins & Phil Brown.
saints-cris Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 I would be underwhelmed by either in all honesty.
ottery st mary Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 MON would take the job without hesitation but stipulated our DOF be demoted to tea person... Ethel the tea lady is not amused having a Director of Tea above her in our new management structure.
shurlock Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Shearer fits with being young and english but doesn't have success on the CV.
September Saint Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 IF the two Premiership managers in the running are Ian Holloway & Sam Alladyce which (if any) do you want
(not THE) Kevin Moore Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Was messing around with Wikipedia last night..... interesting read!!! That is very interesting, clearly MON is lightyears ahead of the rest because his wins were (mostly) at a higher level, Howe is relatively new so not many games. Mowbray comes high up the list and I'm surprised he is not being widely discussed. He got WBA up playing some sublime footie the other year and is currently out of work. Looks the best of the 'realistic' candidates for me.

bjk Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Goooooooodddddddddd why dont they just bloody appoint someone i cant spend all day on this forum.
yorkiesaint Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Surely Brown has a fluke on his CV followed by a meltdown.
Topcat Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 (not THE) Kevin Moore, you left out Les Reed's record of 14% wins.
egg Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 It is not MoN or Adkins. Have patience people, the familiar face will be unveiled soon.
Saint_Ash Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Adkins - Skybet 8/11 Victor Chandler 4/6 Paddy Power 4/7 The 3 bookies that are only taking bets and all odds on. Like a yo you these odds!
buctootim Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 It is not MoN or Adkins. Have patience people, the familiar face will be unveiled soon. I bloody hope so. Ive got £50 on him!
MarkSFC Posted 7 September, 2010 Posted 7 September, 2010 Is there a bookies in Southampton taking bets on this? Every one I have been to are not betting on it, would appear to be online only. Markets like this one are almost always online only now because the bookies can control the price far easier and not get caught out by loads of people putting the same smallish bet on at the dame time at lots if different shops!!
