IOWSaintDaz Posted 22 December, 2016 Share Posted 22 December, 2016 I think he did a good job here helping to mould a competitive and successful team practically from scratch with the club in league one on -10 points bringing in the likes of Lambert, Barnard, Harding etc and don't forget he took us to Wembley and won our 1st trophy (however insignificant) for decades, I still can't fathom why we sacked him when he was the catalyst behind our resurgence back to the Premier League, he's 100% better then Claude Puel. Think Palace are crazy to fire him too as he also took them to Wembley and re-built their squad too after Warnock left them is a dire state he almost took them into the Europa League too. I would welcome him back here

I would welcome him back here Christ, anyone who claims Pardew is a better manager than the one we currently have is either trolling (fair play if you are because you've hooked me in), or utterly deluded in my opinion. The guy has proven time and again in his previous jobs that he is an impact man at best. Can get a group rallied together for a few months to a year until he has to adjust tactically because his side has been figured out, and it all goes to pot when he can't do that. Happened at West Ham, happened at Newcastle and has happened at Palace. I honestly think that whilst Cortese had a lot of flaws, knowing when to make key decisions on managerial appointments was not one of them; because I believe whilst credit is due for the foundations he helped lay for our success, Pards would have been found out here too had he been in charge for another season. I mean just look at his record in 2016 in terms of points per game... Palace are 92nd out of 92 clubs in the Premier League and Football League for 2016. Dead last behind York City who were relegated from League 2 last season. They only don't have their lowest EVER points per game average in their history because there were only 2 points for a win back in the early 70s. I think most will agree that is absolutely criminal with their squad. Edited 22 December, 2016 by SaintSeb grammar

warsash saint Posted 23 December, 2016 Share Posted 23 December, 2016 He's gotta have the best agent in football! With his huge payoff at Newcastle & now Palace he's probably engineered these results for an early Xmas present!!

With his huge payoff at Newcastle & now Palace he's probably engineered these results for an early Xmas present!! Well I mean on pure CV strength he has 2 cup finals, a football league trophy win, a fifth placed PL finish, an LMA and a PL manager of the year and two promotions; it's not too shabby. Don't get me wrong he is a limited manager and a nutjob but it's not like he's a charlatan.

We laugh of course but it is absolutely sickening the sums of money being chucked around in football, and other walks of life. The abject misery and poverty in the UK, nevermind the rest of the world, whilst this kind of thing goes on. How the f*** did it come to this. Merry Christmas!
