dubai_phil Posted 27 August, 2010 Share Posted 27 August, 2010 Tuned in to the 4th Test at lunch time, Oh dear wandered back to do some work. Tuned in just before tea to hear (surprisingly) the commentators speculating of the possibility England might be able to squeeze their way to 250. Fantastic effort by Broad and of course Trott, and a wonderful evening of watching proper test match batting. Lot of thinking to do before the Ashes. Pressure coming on Hampshire to make them give KP some batting practice according to some journo's
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 27 August, 2010 Share Posted 27 August, 2010 Sorry Phil, IMO Pietersen has made his situation clear and, as far as I am concerned, he can FOAD, and sit in his Chelsea "pad" with his trophy wife and child.
Hatch Posted 27 August, 2010 Share Posted 27 August, 2010 Boycs said KP should try and get a game for Surrey,. no problem with that but does Cricket have a loan system.
dubai_phil Posted 27 August, 2010 Author Share Posted 27 August, 2010 Sorry Phil, IMO Pietersen has made his situation clear and, as far as I am concerned, he can FOAD, and sit in his Chelsea "pad" with his trophy wife and child. As I mentioned - Hants could be FORCED to give him time in the middle As in Blackmailed http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cricket/international/england/7968647/England-v-Pakistan-fourth-Test-day-two-tea-close.html Derek Pringle in the Torygraph Pietersen needs to bat in the middle and again feel what it is like to have to construct an innings. To facilitate that, Andy Flower should drop him from the forthcoming one-day series and ask Hampshire to play him for the rest of the county season. If they refuse then the England and Wales Cricket Board should reduce their annual handout. After all, England expects every fiefdom to do its duty. IMHO he should continue to do what he is doing - disappear up his own backside BUT he does need some cricket from somewhere before the Ashes. Think Coombe Bissett might have a gap next Sunday - I can't stay over long enough for a game
chrisobee Posted 27 August, 2010 Share Posted 27 August, 2010 For all I care he can play for Essex/Kent, anyone against us as long as he doesn't play for us. He is the most selfish, egotistical cricketeer I have come across in 45 years following Hants. Playing for us would be an insult and I truly hope Rod Bransgrove tells the ECB where they can go. As for this from Pringle: "If they refuse then the England and Wales Cricket Board should reduce their annual handout. After all, England expects every fiefdom to do its duty." Whilst I agree under normal circumstances this is anything but normal. Hopefully he'll do his hamstring again and problem solved. Is it wrong of me to wish injury on a player ? chrisobee Posted 27 August, 2010 Share Posted 27 August, 2010 Boycs said KP should try and get a game for Surrey,. no problem with that but does Cricket have a loan system. I think the ECB could make it happen if they want to, if they need him to play badly enough and Hants, rightly, don't want him let him go on loan anywhere. He's not really our player anyway under Central Contracts, simply someone who plays for us when the ECB and in this case the player himself feel like it. Nowhere near a good enough attitude and if we are blackmailed into playing him it will be shameful.

What a load of b-----ks from Derek Pringle. Pietersen has nailed his colours to the mast with Hampshire and so must suffer the consequences. Are Hampshire expected to drop Jamie Vince for a poseur who can't tell his bat from his bails, at the moment Better still drop Peitersen and pick Vince for the Ashes tour. Sad to say, though, I don't think that will happen.
keithd Posted 28 August, 2010 Share Posted 28 August, 2010 let's get off the KP debate for a moment and return to applauding trott and broad, massive effort from broad top class test cricket all round. I was wanting to post something during the last session but refrained due to fears of jinxing!! :-D

I was wanting to post something during the last session but refrained due to fears of jinxing!! :-D Yep. This thread was to salute Stuart Broad on a maginificent performance. And to recognise that part that Trott played in getting them both and England to such an unbelievable situation. Up there amongst the greatest Test Match recoveries of all time Shame he missed out on the personal world record, but well done. Now after batting for over 6 hours would you open the bowling with him or with Finn? Broady will be no doubt still in the zone, guess we're about to see how well that conditioning work has helped him!
Huffton Posted 28 August, 2010 Share Posted 28 August, 2010 And now a performance to match from our bowlers. If you said to me this time yesterday we would be in a position to make Pakistan follow on I'd have said you were insane...

dubai_phil Posted 28 August, 2010 Author Share Posted 28 August, 2010 Got to be one of the weirdest tests of all time. Weeeeeeeeeellll. If you've ever been to or done business over time with Pakistan then seeing this never comes as a surprise........ http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cricket/international/pakistan/7970062/Pakistan-cricket-team-at-centre-of-alleged-match-fixing-controversy.html 102-7 and stops attacking and takes off best bowler were the issues that Mike Holding was saying on tv were weird. But if there is now any alleged proof of a link between this bloke and the team...... The story could run and run
