Saint_clark Posted 27 August, 2010 Share Posted 27 August, 2010 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2136827,00.html As part of the development squad, so won't be seeing too much of him in the first team I shouldn't think. Midfielder according to Wiki, but whereabouts I have no idea.

alpine_saint Posted 27 August, 2010 Share Posted 27 August, 2010 He is not a first team signing, or a Pardew signing - he will be part of the reserve squad. Considering A O-Cs rise through the ranks, I reckon this decision is subject to review at any time, especially if the next 4 days remain barren in the transfer market. did he play wing in those friendlies ? Obviously he could impress for the reserves and be brought into the first team squad, as could any of the youngsters. But he's not being brought in - like Guly - to have an immediate impact on the first team.

Block 5 Posted 27 August, 2010 Share Posted 27 August, 2010 FFS, even those who only care about the first team must surely have some interest in whether our youngsters are any good. Of course we all care about the future development of younger players, however right now I am a little more concerned about our inability to score goals that win games. Apologies, I have a bee in my bonnet today.

That's fair enough, we all want another winger added to the first team squad, but that doesn't mean Martin Hunter and Les Reed should drop everything and wait for Pardew to conclude his business. Doctoroncall Posted 27 August, 2010 Share Posted 27 August, 2010 FFS, even those who only care about the first team must surely have some interest in whether our youngsters are any good. TBF it's hard for fans to assess whether they are any good, that's the point of having a development team. I just hope they've done their job and he has shown good technical ability and mental aptitude.

The Cat Posted 27 August, 2010 Share Posted 27 August, 2010 Saw him against Havant. Looked ok. Quite direct in running from midfield, and got stuck in to tackles. Judge_B Posted 27 August, 2010 Share Posted 27 August, 2010 Saw him play against Basingstoke pre-season, he's certainly no winger. Big lad, probably describe himself as a tough-tackling centre midfielder. He ran the show, albeit against Basingstoke, for the first half and was pretty anonymous in the second. All in all looked worth taking a chance on, again based on a pre-season friendly against Basingstoke...

Fitzhugh Fella Posted 27 August, 2010 Share Posted 27 August, 2010 David Puckett isn't there, has he been let go? I heard Puckett had been "relieved of his duties" about a month ago. This signing is intriguing inasmuch as he is older than Schneiderlin and Antonio when they both arrived and yet is only considered a development player for now. If he is 19 he should be banging on the 1st team door fairly quickly at this level I would have thought?

If he is 19 he should be banging on the 1st team door fairly quickly at this level I would have thought? Hi Duncan, hope all is well. I was not overly impressed with this lad when I saw him at Basingstoke. I was much more impressed with our left back and left winger that day. I hope he turns out to be a good buy. for_heaven's_Saint Posted 25 August, 2011 Share Posted 25 August, 2011 Sorry to dig up an old thread, but it's (somewhat) interesting to note that in the latest Saintsplayer coverage - of the under 21s' victory over Brentford- Martin Hunter talks about our defensive pairing and points out that we have now converted Harlee Dean from a central midfielder to a centre back; with some sucess. Not sure if this was the intention when we brought him in, I suspect not, but perhaps one to watch for the first team in the not so distant future...
