Leicestersaint Posted 24 August, 2010 Share Posted 24 August, 2010 We won the toss and put them in - I hope that was the right thing to do as they are currently 86 for 1. We need points.
Leicestersaint Posted 24 August, 2010 Author Share Posted 24 August, 2010 174 for 5 now - so at least we have a bowling point.
Leicestersaint Posted 24 August, 2010 Author Share Posted 24 August, 2010 257 for 6 - bowling looking a bit threadbare with the exception of Cork? Why don't we play Wood in CC games?
Leicestersaint Posted 25 August, 2010 Author Share Posted 25 August, 2010 Hampshire have reached 200 for 3 still 122 behind Yorkshire on the first innings. Looks like a draw but at least we will get some points. Jimmy Adams is on 96.

Lets B Avenue Posted 25 August, 2010 Share Posted 25 August, 2010 Vince 101* :vuvu: LOL at the Yorkshire commentator on BBC on-line. "Thats his maiden Test century!" I know that Yorkies have an over-inflated opinion of themselves, but I wasn't aware that they had left GB and obtained Test status. Mind you Vince will be scoring Test centuries within the next 2/3 years.
Weston Saint Posted 25 August, 2010 Share Posted 25 August, 2010 That is just want Vince needed. He has broken the barrier. He has never lacked confidence
corsacar saint Posted 25 August, 2010 Share Posted 25 August, 2010 Magnificent batting performances by the two James, well done in particular to James Vince, and hopefully that will the first of many, especially for Hampshire.

stevegrant Posted 26 August, 2010 Share Posted 26 August, 2010 Expect we'll bat until we get to 400 - thus securing maximum batting points - and then declare, seeing if we can skittle them cheaply this afternoon. We've got 11 overs to score 33 runs, so would expect we should manage that comfortably.
Leicestersaint Posted 26 August, 2010 Author Share Posted 26 August, 2010 402 for 3 - fifth batting point secured. I assume they will declare about 12.30 pm around 150 ahead and gofor the win. Hopefully the weather will hold - it is pouring here in Leicester. The two Jameses continue to bat beautifully and are heading for a record stand. stevegrant Posted 26 August, 2010 Share Posted 26 August, 2010 Jimmy's gone for 196 Might let Vince get the one run needed to get 150, but should be declaring now really.
corsacar saint Posted 26 August, 2010 Share Posted 26 August, 2010 Surely Steve the bigger lead we have by lunchtime,or just after gives us a bigger chance of winning. We are hardly likely to win with a lead of only 110ish.[They have a decent batting line up] However, the weather remains an issue, and unfortunately the wicket is still playing well,so a draw is the most likely result[unfortunately]. Ironically, that lost day,may well have cost us the chance of winning the game. I would be delighted to be proved wrong, and we manage to bowl them out. bungle Posted 26 August, 2010 Share Posted 26 August, 2010 Yes, I disagree with Steve's poor tactical plan. Best bet is to build up as big a lead as poss before lunch and then have a go at bowling them out in final two sessions, rather than relying on batting again. stevegrant Posted 26 August, 2010 Share Posted 26 August, 2010 I just think we would want as long as possible to bowl them out, given they're likely to be on the defensive right from the start. They're not going to be chasing runs with pretty much zero chance of winning the game, so if we were to bowl them out for 200-odd, that would give us a whopping target of about 30. I'd fancy our chances there
Weston Saint Posted 26 August, 2010 Share Posted 26 August, 2010 (edited) Yorkshire facing minimum of 72 overs after Hampshire declare. Good move to get a few overs in before lunch. Looks like a draw though with Hampshire picking up 11 valuable points. Correction 71 overs Edited 26 August, 2010 by Weston Saint
Weston Saint Posted 26 August, 2010 Share Posted 26 August, 2010 Assuming we only draw those 11 points put us on 131 from 13 games and 6th in the table. Kent on same games are on 123 Essex after 14 are on 115 Warwickshire after 13 on 104 Essex & Warwickshire are playing but at lunch on day 2 the only play (yesterday) Essex 90-7 Fixtures to come for bottom 4 Lancashire v Hampshire Warwickshire v Kent Kent v Hampshire Essex v Durham Hampshire v Warwickshire Yorkshire v Kent Our games against Warwickshire & Kent look massive. Providing we avoid losing both or at least win one I think we will be safe. Essex favourites to go down. My tip will be Kent to join them.
Berkshire Saint Posted 26 August, 2010 Share Posted 26 August, 2010 Surely will be Warwickshire to go with Essex. They are dire. Average first innings score for them is about 150.
