dune Posted 24 August, 2010 Posted 24 August, 2010 I am currently debating swine on an islamic forum and am in need of some medical advice on the subject. Why is pork particularly dangerous to eat for humans when it's off and what makes pork different to other meats in this respect?
Whitey Grandad Posted 24 August, 2010 Posted 24 August, 2010 There can be parasites in the meat which are not killed if it is not cooked properly. This was particularly a problem in hot countries.

Thanks, and what are characteristic of swine and humans that makes disease being spread between the two worse than between human and other meats? I am actually researching the volcanic eruption on Santorini, but the discussion has digressed when we got onto the subject of noah/mount ararat and gods creation of swine to eat the excrement created.
stug76 Posted 24 August, 2010 Posted 24 August, 2010 Is there a similar thread on the Islamic forum about Saints lack of activity in the transfer market?
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 24 August, 2010 Posted 24 August, 2010 Pork tapeworms. A huge problem in past times. They exist in cysts within the meat and require intense cooking to kill them.
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 24 August, 2010 Posted 24 August, 2010 Muslims don't eat pork, so it must be bad. They don't know what they are missing. Nothing beats a good old fashioned bacon sandwich.
dune Posted 24 August, 2010 Author Posted 24 August, 2010 Muslims don't eat pork, so it must be bad. Christians shouldn't eat pork either according to Leviticus.
dubai_phil Posted 24 August, 2010 Posted 24 August, 2010 , but the discussion has digressed when we got onto the subject of noah/mount ararat and gods creation of swine to eat the excrement created. That is their key argument - "The Man" created the Swine to eat sh1t so the meat is deemed unclean. Nowadays that argument isn't so valid, simply because "The Man" also created Skates who now add value to the process by being able to perform the dual roles of eating AND speaking sh1t. You won't win the argument though. Try a better one - Muslims are allowed to consume alcohol. Always a great one that. (Oh and they are, not sure the exact wording but they are allowed to consume the product of Bees so they are allowed to drink Mead.....)

I always thought it was they musn't drink the fruit of the vine or words to that effect. So beer must be ok :-)
dune Posted 24 August, 2010 Author Posted 24 August, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P39UKEfFIzE&feature=related]YouTube - Why islam prohibits eating Pork? with proofs from the Bible and medical science.
Robsk II Posted 24 August, 2010 Posted 24 August, 2010 Dune - why are you bothering? Religion is fundamentally irrational, any form of it. Why are you muslim-baiting?

I saw a programme stating that the strictness of the ban goes back to an incident in Saudi Arabia where a Crown Prince and an American got drunk one night and the Prince got shot and killed. The King was so upset that he banished all alcohol. The say that expats still visit the American's grave to spit on it.
