"Guly" Signing Confirmed

I had a look at your posts. I am not comfortable that the risk has been well assessed, currently. And if we dont bring another CM in (which I doubt) rather a lot rides on him settling quick to our game.

I duly note Marcotti's comments, and hope he is right; we all know there is more to making an impact at a new club and League than raw talent alone.

As someone said a little earlier, the real acid test is what he does out on the field on Saturday (If the Italian FA get their thumbs out of their arses on time).

On that point we'll have to agree to disagree; I think the resources we have at our disposal in Les Reed and his team are more than adequate to make that judgement. Anyway, time will tell in terms of how quickly he settles (it does need to be quickly) and how much impact he has.

I still just get the impression that you're demanding the impossible, in terms of a British type Championship CM player, and only that; Danns and Stock wouldn't come, potentially others have also declined which is why we've gone this route. As I said, if we can't get a Championship CM we have to get a top league 1 player, which just gives us another Hammond. So we may as well go this route, as although its a risk it gives us a better chance of actually getting a better player.

To be fair, you are in position to judge how the risk has been assessed. Without being insulting, you have absolutely no clue, just like the rest of us.

That doesnt prevent me forming an opinion on what is available. Pardew himself has called Goolie a "risk". Doesnt matter how hard you try to ignore that little fact.

Any signing is a risk. Lambert was a huge risk at 1m. Pahars was a risk, Schneiderlin was a risk, Arias was a risk. But based on AP's dealings theres a good chance it will come off. And its a low risk, the clever ploy of loaning first proves that. Its hard for us to add quality because the existin players are so good. We would not be able to sign Lallana if he played for another team because he would go Prem or Champ so sometimes we have to take a risk on unearthing a gem.

Nope. Proven track record of goalscoring at this level.

Pahars was a risk

Nothing to do with AP

Schneiderlin was a risk

Nothing to do with AP

Arias was a risk.

Who ?

But based on AP's dealings theres a good chance it will come off.

Yes, but he's going to get one wrong at some point. Law of averages.

And its a low risk, the clever ploy of loaning first proves that.

Low risk for club, not low risk for promotion or AP. When your job is dependent upon promotion, not so clever ploy.

Its hard for us to add quality because the existin players are so good.

U What ???

I saw where you cut the quote off. Very convenient..

Football Manager In Taking A Risk Signing A Player Shock!

If a manager didn't take a risk on a player, he wouldn't, ever, sign anyone. I ignored that part of the quote because it was a) irrelevant and b) utterly daft. I was doing you a favour, you should have grabbed it.

Now, about your uninformed opinions...

All transfers are a ****ing risk Alpine, you just have to trust the manager, scouts etc!

Now relax!

Exactly, you will never know a player will be a 100% success, no matter how good he is.

History is littered with world class players failing to make the grade when they move clubs. (shevchenko, Kaka etc) You just identify targets that should improve the team and hope they work out.

Gully is a 'low' risk, f*ck me alps you would be the first to p*ss and moan if we signed him permanent and he didn't work out !! In fact it seems to me these days you are the first to p*ss and moan whatever development occurs.

First you were saying we havn't made enough moves in the Transfer market, which i agreed with, now we have your not happy, who exactly are you looking for to be signed ?

If the manager is talking openly about risk it means he is uncomfortable and is covering his own ass. Not only does this suggest to me that maybe this has been pushed by NC without him being 100% convinced, saying its risky in public cant have done the player a lot of good either. Therefore I am uncomfortable, and in my opinion justifiably so.

I expected the trend set by the signings of Lambert and Fonte to be continued. Proven players in our game at a similar level.

Personally, I am going to spend next week being quite excited about seeing Guly play for us, and in all honesty I just feel sorry for anybody that can't be excited about it.

And I am looking forward to having my concerns eliminated. Lets just hope the Italian FA get their act together.

True, it doesn't. It just prevents you from forming an informed, accurate opinion.

Please don't use personal insults. Apline has alread been severely abused by sadoldgit and is naturally quite upset aout it all.

Thanks,

Deppo.

How could "True, it doesn't. It just prevents you from forming an informed, accurate opinion" possibly be construed as a "personal insult" ?

Oh, right, I see what you did. I think.

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1791231,00.html

Saints have just received notification from the Italian F.A. clearing new arrival Papa Waigo N'Diaye for first team selection
.

IMO his debut might not be until Swindon next week

I agree but also some of the goalkeeping was crap there and quite a few of the goals were free kicks and penalties which he won't be taking.

It wasn't so much the goals he scored, it was the ''pass and move'' style of his play. Our midfield atm is too static and sideways.
