Nexstar Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2131709,00.html Tall, pacey and can score by the looks of it. Exactly what we need!
Scudamore Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 I am pleased... Number 8 slot is still available i see...
Saint_clark Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 I am pleased... Number 8 slot is still available i see... Just what I was thinking, only one more signing to come perhaps?
Fan The Flames Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Its nice to have a Brazilian down the middle
niceandfriendly Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 awesome. not a big fan of nicknames being used on football shirts but that's not really a big issue , hope this turns out to be a great signing. the following is so great to read, so strange that good players are talking like this about us: I was looking forward to what was going to be a very exciting season playing in Serie A, and although there was interest in me from other Serie A clubs, as soon as I heard Southampton were interested I knew that I had to come here. "I have always wanted to play in England and at the highest possible level. The Chairman sold me his vision for where this Club is going and I wanted to be a part of that and help take this Club through the divisions."
altoniansaints Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 looks a cracking signing but only time will tell! would like to know how we pulled this one off tho not that i care really COME ON YOU STRIPES
latter day saint Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 hope he can give us the spark in midfield thats missing at the moment. AP looked very happy in the photo's ! COYS !! WIFM !!
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Interesting it is a 5 month loan. Maybe being Brazilian there are question marks whether he can adapt to lower league English football. Could be the player we need when playing at St Mary's and opposition playing with 10 men behind the ball. Not sure if he would be the right player on a cold Tuesday night at Hartlepool.
doggface Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 1st brazilian player ever for saints? Sounds exciting.
North Wilts Saint Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 As the magastore have no "E" s to put on shirts he had to chose a name without a E in for his shirt !
shane d Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 lets hope he's the bees knees. In Pardew we trust
Minty Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 On the face of it, this is an amazing signing. As said above, lets hope he can adapt to League 1 football sufficiently to make a real impact.
JustMike Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 appears to be quick too, here's hoping he is as good as we all hope he is
Saint_clark Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 At over 6 feet he could be the cover for Lambert up front as well?
Liquidshokk Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Is his nickname pronounced "Gooley" or "Gully" ??? Also, if it is only a 5 month loan is there a risk we could lose him like we did antonio? Can we claim him for definate if we want him after 5 months?
OldNick Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Some decent goals! fantastic, last time I saw a video clip of a player like that was when we signed a player from South America.....ohhhhhhh
SaintNeil90 Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Hopefully he plays tomorrow and rips Bolton apart
SuperSAINT Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Great! -- Looking forward to seeing him play. We need a bit of guile to open teams up. Fingers-crossed he can do a job (and then some)
sotonist Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Interesting it is a 5 month loan. Maybe being Brazilian there are question marks whether he can adapt to lower league English football. Could be the player we need when playing at St Mary's and opposition playing with 10 men behind the ball. Not sure if he would be the right player on a cold Tuesday night at Hartlepool. or maybe question marks over whether we'll be on track or promotion by then. let's hope both are unfounded.
The Kraken Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Is his nickname pronounced "Gooley" or "Gully" ??? Also, if it is only a 5 month loan is there a risk we could lose him like we did antonio? Can we claim him for definate if we want him after 5 months? Article says we have the option to sign him permanently in the January window, so it sounds like a very good low-risk deal.
Saint_Jim Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Who will make way for him in the starting XI??
Arizona Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 1st brazilian player ever for saints? Sounds exciting. You're forgeting the mighty Jason St Juste.
Saint_clark Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Who will make way for him in the starting XI?? Puncheon or Hammond, IMO.
paris Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Look's good , let's hope he can do the same for us...
Nexstar Posted 23 August, 2010 Author Posted 23 August, 2010 Who will make way for him in the starting XI?? Deano is my guess
Griffo Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Puncheon or Hammond, IMO. Rushing between here and Football Forums to talk about it I see
Turkish Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Puncheon or Hammond, IMO. Or go with 5 in midfield with Puncheon, GUlly and Lallana advanced with Barnard and Connolly on the bench.
doddisalegend Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 welcome Guly, the youtube video looks promising. I'll hold my excitment a bit though. I remember how excited people where about Papa last year followed by less excitment when he hadn't scored six goals in two matches. Hopefully he can can adapt to league one football on a cold tuesday night and turn out to be that sort of spark player we need when things need shaking up a bit.
Golden Balls Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Sounds like a great signing, not that I have a clue who he is
Saint_clark Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Rushing between here and Football Forums to talk about it I see Both open in separate tabs Always interesting to get fans of other clubs opinions on new signings.
Pancake Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 First one to create a chant based on The Eagles "Desperado" gets 25 points.
Scudamore Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Interesting it is a 5 month loan. Maybe being Brazilian there are question marks whether he can adapt to lower league English football. Lucky we're playing Hartlepool away on a Saturday afternoon. Cold Tuesday night in...i am learning to hate this saying.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 I reckon this is gonna be one hell of a signing! Got my Brizzle ticket this morning so looking forward to watching his debut! COYS!
Saint Charlie Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Could be that we will go 4-2-3-1 and Guly will replace Barnard in the starting team?
Saint_clark Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Could be that we will go 4-2-3-1 and Guly will replace Barnard in the starting team? I'd be very disappointed, after the start to the season Barnard has had, if he gets dropped.
martel Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2131709,00.html Tall, pacey and can score by the looks of it. Exactly what we need! Attacking midfielder, as nexstar said, exactly what we needed, perfect and hopefully well worth the wait.
SaintDonkey Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 This! (which doesn't make sense as the quote didn't work for some reason ) Against Plymouth and Orient's packed defensive midfields Morgan and Hammond struggled in the centre leaving the burden of attacking on Lallana and Puncheon (who as noted wasn't having the best of days). I'd like to see someing like Davis Butterfield Fonte Jaidi Harding Schinderlinn Puncheon Guly Lallana Dickson Lambert
Sour Mash Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Quality signing on the face of it. As stated above just depends how he adapts to english life and a winter in the English lower leagues. Not sure who will be dropped for him, my choice would be Puncheon, but will be interesting to see. Anyone know if he will be playing tomorrow night?
martel Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 lol! Quote of the day fan the flames!... agreed!
Golden Balls Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Or go with 5 in midfield with Puncheon, GUlly and Lallana advanced with Barnard and Connolly on the bench. I can see him being played on the wing which by the looks of it would be a waste
