Guilherme Do Pedro??

I don't think puncheon is a bad player but i do think he needs a kick up the arse. He's playing badly at the moment and not thinking on the ball. He also seems to think that he has to beat ten players before he can cross (not that there was anyone in the box for him for most of today's game).

Again i think that comes back to the manager, bollock him at half time, sub him if it continues and then for a last resort drop him if his attitude doesn't change. Same thing goes with dropping Jaidi, the whole ground can see he's not up to it any more (it's sadly a bit like Perry last season that you can see he's got too old).

Agreed. Was disappointed not to see Holmes or Dickson in his place.

He's not a bad player but he's in terrible form and needs to get with the programme.

Tbh ,majority of us haven't even heard of him before, was'nt until i got a heads up from a couple of mates abroad about the article i stood up and took notice,he could be blinding he could be not suited to English football......but if he is as good as i am led to believe,it would be one hell of a coup.IMO.

Let's see if he signs, appears he fits the bill, but ......I did'nt know who Papa Waigo was....

Won't believe any websites anymore until it's on the OS, we've been in this position too many times before.

Yeah, the fact that this story is circulating on various websites probably suggests that it isn't true. We do things differently now, all our signings come out of the blue. Well, apart from the two already mentioned on here, but even the Hammond one we found out about first on the OS.

Hope I'm wrong as this guy looks very handy. And Turkish, please post your 4 minute "Best of" video so we can compare the defenses of Serie A/B players to Tyro league players and then decide how world class you look. ;)

Found this quote, dated from Friday on Yahoo Italia / Eurosport. Google translate has done its best for us below the Italian text:

Cesena, lo vuole il Southampton ma Do Prado e' intoccabile

Cesena, lo vuole il Southampton ma Do Prado e'' intoccabile. Offerta degli inglesi per il brasiliano. Il direttore generale Mancini categorico: "Il ragazzo ha sposato il nostro progetto, nessuna cessione in vista".

Cesena, but wants the Southampton Do Prado and 'untouchable

Fri, 20 August 2010 22:57:27

Cesena, Southampton wants but do Prado and''untouchable. Offer the English for the Brazilian. The Director General Mancini categorical: "The boy has married our project, no sale in sight."

This would appear to be a wee stumbling block although maybe one which has been resolved, if it was him at SMS today?

OUR policy is to keep mouths shut. That's not to say that other clubs/players/staff/agents will respect that and follow suit.

Exactly as is Pardew's post match interview. When asked about any transfers in or out he replied "I have no comment". Seems to me that if he says just 1 thing, he will be out that door no excuses!

been looking into this guy a bit more, it seems to be a really random signing if true.

His club have just got promoted to Serie A and according to the stats he's one of their keymen with 11 goals from midfield last season in Serie B. His record before his move to Cesena is a bit iffy though, he had a very very serious injury when he was at Fiorentina and found him self loaned out everywhere for a few seasons, but in the last year he seems to have got over his injury troubles..There were rumblings that Roma and Lazio were interested earlier in the summer.

He looks to be well loved at Cesena and they don't want to sell him...so i think it's safe to assume that it will be one hell of a coup to get him to L1..

Cesena have some quality players - Stephen Appiah (Ghana's captain at the World Cup) and few other internationals, so they're no mugs. as you say if we get him, it'll be one hell of a coup.

Lambert just isn't fully match fit, in the first half when we where playing the ball around and getting some decent service into him he was winning everything in the air. It was only the last half and hour when we started launching everything up into the air and expecting miracles.

Strange one this.

If he has signed then you would parade him at the game, If he wants to look at the club first then it's a situation where Saints will know it's going to be leaked out and that other clubs could nip in before us. This is a great agents tactic to generate better interest for the player.

IMHO We are one option the player has but they intend to chase the larger wages in the end so we shall see.

Assuming this is true, and with Italian press reports and alleged sightings at SMS it may well be, then I wonder what this might tell us about the current relationship between AP and NC?

Pardew is widely believed not to welcome the input of others into his transfer dealings, but GDP has surely been sourced by Cortese, especially with the Fiorentina connection, and his transfer fee won't come cheap (1 mill euros?).

Assuming this is the case, will AP be happy for such funds to be spent on a player perhaps not of his choice when he may prefer to spend funds elsewhere?

A similar thing happened last year with Papa and despite his potential AP did seem reluctant to play him too much. Is it just coincidence that a similar situation may now be reoccurring, or could this be an indicator for the future... ?

Itchen dan has found another link......It's going to happen,i believe.

lmao @ the editorial next to the article:

"Farewell, PLANTS and repentance. WHEN THE MONEY NOT THE HEART Silencing

It 's over! I leave you! Goodbye! In just a little love to send them to that country, the words follow each other relentlessly, breaking links with heart and brain. The thought does not go hand in hand with a forked tongue, prey to the electrical discharges of the auction ..."

I wish I'd have said that.

Looks a cracking player , but then again Youtube makes ANY player look good (the Lee Molyneux motivational  )

We need someone like him to add a bit of spark to the attack.

Waigo was unpredictable and Antonio had pace and actually took on the full-back (NOTE TO PUNCHEON!!! )

I think Puncheon's problem maybe a confidence one , or that he isn't quite fit enough yet ..but also could be that he was played in Centre-Midfield for the majority of the time he was at MK Dons and wants to hold the ball a lot to find the right pass.

I think he's a good player but something's not right ATM , and Pardew either needs to drop him or tell him to up his game.

The Brazilian, Prado Do Cesena will move in the coming days, less than sensational plot twists

.

There is in fact the agreement with Southampton for the transfer of the player but, according to the latest, it expects the response from the committee examine the entry of non-EU players.

I assume the last sentence means a work permit has been applied for to complete the transfer.

This is pretty much a certain transfer then. Much like the Dickson signing, we know about it before the official announcement.

Seems to be a good player with decent experience. Now we can get playing a 4-5-1 with Do Prado, Lallana, Puncheon, Dickson and Schneiderlin in the midfield. Lallana and Puncheon more central with Do Prado on the right and Dickson on the left? All up to Pards I guess, but that formation would leave the bench looking stronger already with Hammond and Barnard there.
