alpine_saint Posted 21 August, 2010 Share Posted 21 August, 2010 Which is precisely the approach you took with George Burley, when the forum was criticising his methods. Exactly the point I've tried to make. The double standards are flabbergasting.
alpine_saint Posted 21 August, 2010 Share Posted 21 August, 2010 Yep. And why is it ok to criticse one but not another? As you say, this place should be for grown ups. NickG Posted 21 August, 2010 Share Posted 21 August, 2010 Because nickG is slagging off the Echo for reporting that he was going to be sacked. 1) They were wrong. 2) Wasn't what it was about, people are building myths about this MLT slating NC has done. NickG Posted 21 August, 2010 Share Posted 21 August, 2010 I have this problem. It seem to me that the 5 year plan (now a 4 year plan of course) involved getting us into the Premiership, selling up and moving on. So I have 2 questions. What happens to us when they move on and what happens to us if we are not in the Premiership in 4 years time? Did you just make that up? If so why don't you answer last bit as well! Deppo Posted 21 August, 2010 Share Posted 21 August, 2010 The Echo said that Pardew was going to be sacked and he was going to be. I don't know much about overseas politics, but I'm assuming that that is Robert Mugabe in your avatar. Which I think is pretty inappropriate as I've heard about some of the things he's done, like banning homosexuals, killing white farmers, and introducing a £3 booking fee for tickets to see Victoria Falls. saint J Posted 21 August, 2010 Share Posted 21 August, 2010 cortese is not perfect...far from it...I wish lowe would stop talking to the bloody press...now we have one that does not want to and it is a problem..? ok, maybe the way he has gone about it has annoyed some fans..I get that... IMO, what he brings to the table...the positives far out do the negatives....so I for one, will sit back and see how all this plays out and let what happens behind the scenes actually happen without + 1 It's all about the football for me, As long as we still play week in week out and have a winning team I couldn't care less about the rubbish alot on here keep repeating, let NC do his job and let the team do theirs! sadoldgit Posted 21 August, 2010 Share Posted 21 August, 2010 Which is precisely the approach you took with George Burley, when the forum was criticising his methods. Not once did I say "In George Burley we trust" as I find that phrase, as I said, cringeworthy. As for double standars Alpine, how so? I didn't slag Burley off because, apart from last season, he gave us a decent season in the play off year and had an excellent win per games ration (not to mention his team scored lots of goals, like Pardew's did last year). The double standards are coming thick and fast this season though. You know as well as I do if Lowe was still here he would be crucified for the press thing, the photographer thing and the early bird thing - not to mention not spending a shedload of money. As for cutting the bloke some slack Alpine, do you really think someone like Cortese would bother to read this? Why would he be bothered about something he knows nothing about? JackFrost Posted 23 August, 2010 Share Posted 23 August, 2010 (edited) Look, I'm with you. There are some good things happening, clearly, and I think we will get promoted and Cortese and Pardew are the architects of that. But I am not comfortable with the attitude on some on here that every single decision he takes is correct and unquestionable. The Luvviest Lowe Luvvie never got anywhere near some of the messiah worship on here. He's made some stonking and pointless errors which will be of no benefit and are a waste of energy when we're supposed to be getting promoted. I share your Annnnywayyyyyyy. Move on! Completely disagree I haven't seen anyone mention Lord Cortese Don't forget Cortese has only been here a year, and the fact that he saved our club with liebherr (whilst wonderful) has understandably kept people in the "thinking he can do no wrong" mindset Edited 23 August, 2010 by JackFrost
Alain Perrin Posted 23 August, 2010 Share Posted 23 August, 2010 Hold onto your hats then girls. I have it on the highest authority ("Se sai cosa intendo") that the club are considering renaming the stadium in memory of Markus. However I have heard that there is a proposal to recognise Rupert Lowe's involvement in the project. "The Liebherr Lowe Stadium" illiterates well but is likely to stick in some people's throats. Of course he is not above criticism but I would certainly cut him considerably more slack than any owner/CEO/Director/idiot that has presided over us for many, many years

This whole "Cortese saved our club so anyone who criticises him must be a skate" mentality on here is cringeworthy. I would disagree slightly. Think the problem is that there is no balance. Too many people feel that they have to criticise all things Cortese OR find little things that they can link to Cortese in order to stir more s**t whether there be any evidence or not. The more Cortese mud slinging there is then the more people come out to try and 'defend' him. Wouldn't say that majority of people believe the sun shines out of his a*se but do believe that too many people (mainly on internet forums because i don't know many people outside of here who criticise him as badly) are trying to demonize him. Personally I cannot see what good there is for the club as a whole if we continually berate NC & look for any small snippet of unfounded rumour which can then be blown out of proportion to make him look like a c**t. After the Wilde fiasco it is good that people question certain actions of the club and Cortese but unfortunately this is not the case. I would say that those who 'question' Cortese on here are far more extreme in their views and their postings than those who try to dismiss individual articles regarding him who then get called Cortese luvvies. I would also suggest that they appear to have individual agendas for doing so and that is quite sad.

The answer to all these snipers will come when we start winning and climbing the league... We have a very good squad with additions and I still remain confident we will win the league.. Some forum members spend too much time around ex players, ex Managers, ex staff and believe everything that is spouted. Especially as some have their own agenda against The Saints leadership/coaching staff......lots of jealousy lollong around in those Corporate box/rooms. They then post on this forum as if it is gospel but berating others that have the same bolllixx info.. Fair enough everyone entitled to their opinion....SO shut up ottery...
