Good to see the promising start has been rewarded with a pro-contract. It sounds as if the lad has his feet on the ground and that A.P. will keep them there by reminding him that he's not made it yet.

Interesting to read his comments about the "step- up" from youth football to men's.He talks about confidence and getting to know the senior players and how they conduct themslves. This is a massive hurdle for a youngster to make, but if he can and has the ability, he can come on "leaps and bounds".

Also interested to read that he normally plays centre midfield, an area we need back-up with, so if the confidence continues and his general play improves, we may see him come in from the wide areas he is being used in now, to play more centrally.

I never understood as a centre midfielder myself, i was often used in wide areas as opposed to my natural position and it was only as confidence was gained did i get a chance to play centrally. The club obviously rate the lad, even playing in a wide areas.Does A.P. intend to use the lad in centre midfield as he and the season progresses, i watch with interest.

I'm really pleased about this.

It's great to see talent come up through the ranks, and a promising sign that things are working well internally.

I actually assumed he was on a professional contract already having featured on the first team last season.

will be interesting to see how the youngsters progress this season, should definitely play chamberlin in the JPT and against Bolton next week to build up his experience, then league games when needed.

With no reserve league this year I guess we wont know when the others are playing or doing unless the games arranged with other clubs are advertised and reported on?

Good news - I hope this is just the first in a long line. I think the potential to bring on young talent is just one of the things that ML saw and liked in SFC and I am sure it is part of the five year plan.

Onwards and upwards back to the promised land!

IMO the OXO kid has got a bright future, 3 year contract gives us a bit of protection from the vultures.

Totally agreed - SFC / AP would never have offered a pro contract if they did not see a lot of potential. So many youngsters never make it - but looking at the way he took that goal against Bournemouth hints at the potential start of a very exciting career. Delighted for the lad and even more delighted that he is one of ours - LOL his dad was a skate - so even better he knows where the best place to nurture his talent lies.

"La, la, la, la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la, OXO!"*

Good, albeit expected, move. Should be hot property by the end of that contract.

Great to see.

I saw Lallana's first game in some pre-season friendly (vs Anderlecht?). He was dreadful and taken off at half time.

This kid shows the same kind of promise, so am not concerned if he's not showing utter genius at every stage just now.

Well done, Alex, what an opportunity - and very well deserved.
