Weston Saint Posted 16 August, 2010 Posted 16 August, 2010 Has been offered a 1 year contract with Hampshire for next season. "I just want to keep playing cricket for as long as I’m physically OK and I make a difference. I don’t want to be picked in a side just because of what I’ve done in the past; I want to be picked in a side because I make a difference. I believe I can still do that. If I ever get to the position where I feel can’t it’ll be time for some of those youngsters to take the ball and have a good time. It’s been a great career. So I’m going to take some time, I’m going to think about it and I’m sure I’ll make the right decision for myself and for Hampshire as well. I’ll make a decision before the end of the season, and I’m pretty sure it’ll be a positive one!"
Turkish Posted 16 August, 2010 Posted 16 August, 2010 the bloke is a legend, not just a great player but a great bloke too, sport needs people like him.
corsacar saint Posted 16 August, 2010 Posted 16 August, 2010 You are right Turkish, and Hampshire definately need him next year.[Hopefully as one day captain].
Eastcowzer Posted 17 August, 2010 Posted 17 August, 2010 Great news ! Might have been better if it had been a so-called 'rolling' contract to terminate by mutual consent, as and when.
keithd Posted 17 August, 2010 Posted 17 August, 2010 i wasnt impressed when we signed him. i thought here's a bloke seeing out his career at a club where he'll be on probably better wages than almost anywhere else as one of the more "solvent" clubs and as a player i never particularly liked him, a lot of smoke and mirrors. i couldnt be more wrong, and i realised how wrong i was very quickly too. the bloke has been imense and am so pleased for him that the's picked up some silverware at Hants too. Hope you sign Mr Cork. Dont wory Sky will still be wanting you when you do decide to call it a day
KK the 2nd Posted 17 August, 2010 Posted 17 August, 2010 Top guy. Let's hope the contract is agreed and he can lead us to more glory next year.
Weston Saint Posted 17 August, 2010 Author Posted 17 August, 2010 I will pass on all the good wishes if I get chance to speak to him this evening.
Saint Keith Posted 17 August, 2010 Posted 17 August, 2010 top bloke, and great cricketer. i remember when he got that hat trick against the west indies in 1995. it was the morning after my wedding and my then wife was not overly impressed that i was more excited about the cricket than being married to her .

dubai_phil Posted 23 December, 2010 Posted 23 December, 2010 (edited) Misses the tournament in Barbados though...... A week or two chilling in the sun in Barbados. A Reality TV show that involves falling over a lot, wearing Lycra in public and being freezing cold. Gotta worry about his decision making process there. Although in his favour he does get to keep grabbing hold of some fit Scandinavian Blonde chick all the time.... Good Luck to him, hope he becomes the Mark Ramprakash of the Ice Edited 23 December, 2010 by dubai_phil
