This thread makes fascinating reading.

 

Apparently, there is no pressure on us to start winning according to some, but the very same people reckon we are nailed on for promotion. Bizarre.

 

Lads, in order to be promoted, you need to have more points than the rest of the league. Did you know that ?

 

The longer it takes for us to start winning, the more steep a curve our form needs to take for the rest for the season.

 

I really wonder what justifies this complaicency that suddenly we will wake up one day, everything will click, (and apart from the odd Wycombe result which apparently according to the very same people are freak results that not only cannot be avoided, we shouldnt even try) and we will hammer everyone else in the league and this day will happen when it is convenient and with sufficient games left to win the league.

 

3 words : CLOUD COOKOO LAND. We were supposed to hit the ground running this season. So far we are staggering along like we have a hangover.

 

Apparently, pre-season didnt matter, then the first game didnt matter, now certain utterly deluded happy clappers reckon the first 6 games dont matter, because the team will nailed-on get the same results and level of performance this season, Rickie Lambert will score the same amount of goals, we will magically get the same attacking options somehow, despite having lost two players and all variation from that attack, etc. etc.

 

There is some real delusion going on in these parts currently. We are heading for mid-table mediocrity-to-playoffs scrape at this rate.

 

I predict that you will be 'eating your words' by the end of the season.

AP has had a year to build Saints so you'd imagine things would start to look up soon??

I understand the initial sentiment but I have to say overall this thread is symptomatic of Football these days failure of any sort is seen as a totally failure and a drastic need for change, on paper we have lost 1 and won 1 cripes I had better reach for the rusty razor blades.

 

I just wish that some folks would wake up to the fact that we are not a footballing super club.................. yet. And that most teams that we do play this season will, like Oldham last season, will do everything in their power to prevent being tonked and if possible nick a result: this is thanks to the football history we do have in ourselves.

 

The net result is that we have a permanent ticket on the football rollercoaster, so we are all going to have to learn to be flexible to what we see on a matchday............ and chill!

If we want promotion then they have to have that mentality, this league and the championship are tough to get out of and being made a favourite does not help our cause; as every one we play will want to bite chunks out of us.

I agree with John Boy, teams will not make it easy for Saints. We have to learn to be patient and break teams down.

In their heyday Liverpool had the ability to draw out lesser teams and then strike effetively on the break. Once they got the first vital goal, the demolition began as the opposition lost confidence.

to be honest....im sick and tired of people calling me "dumbdays, dulldays" etc....

 

if you have an issue PM me....or just stick to the topic yeah..? or dont post..???

I reckon we ought to sack a manager every time we lose a game and employ them on a game to game basis, that way the Lets get rid of him fans will be happy then, if he only manages a draw he doesn't get paid. How many managers would we get through in a season?

Then stop being a trolling plonker. "Must" = must. Not want to or need to. And I am sure you are clever enough to tell the difference in meanings, so refusing to do so implies trolling to me, DildoDays

Probably true. I reckon a draw may keep him in place for another week, but he is really hanging by a thread. I don't agree with him being hung out this early though, but it seems as if Cortese had his mind made up last year.

it was crucial that we made a good start...why people are so apathetic about 5 points dropped at home is odd......5 points dropped at home to poor teams
