Matthew Le God Posted 12 August, 2010 Posted 12 August, 2010 (edited) Preston North End in three of their stands have images using the seats of club legends. Tom Finney, Bill Shankley and Alan Kelly. It certainly looks better than having Friends Provident or flybe.com logos and would give St Mary's a bit more character. Tom Finney & Bill Shankly Stands Alan Kelly & Tom Finney Stands How would you feel if Saints did this for Ted Bates and Markus Liebherr in two stands at St Mary's? Good idea? Leaving the other two stands free to be added in the future if other important Saints figures pass away. Ted and Markus will always be looking down on us from the stands. alpine_saint Posted 12 August, 2010 Posted 12 August, 2010 Nothing against it, so long as its Saints Fans bums on the changed seats, and not away fans. Therefore would need to be Itchen and Kingsland. Are PNE waiting for anyone in particular to die ?
Matthew Le God Posted 12 August, 2010 Author Posted 12 August, 2010 (edited) Are PNE waiting for anyone in particular to die ? The fourth stand is too small to put a legends image on. Also it is the away end. Wouldn't be a problem at St Mary's. Edited 12 August, 2010 by Matthew Le God
Matthew Le God Posted 12 August, 2010 Author Posted 12 August, 2010 The Preston ones look a million times better than that.
Victor Posted 12 August, 2010 Posted 12 August, 2010 I think we all need to calm down and get a sense of proportion and history. Anyway, I think Cortese has other plans.

You can't just base how much tribute someone deserves on length of service. Okay, Liebherr was here for 13 months, but without him there wouldn't be a club. It also seems he will remain funding the club after his death. I'd say that is a pretty significant contribution.
