It has to be "Stand up if you love markus" can only imagine the response from the crowd, ringing around the stadium. Please please get this going its short simple and as mentioned above will sum up how we all feel.
It is a bit "one off" though....and I hate those songs that require me to stand up (especially if by not standing up you are deemed to hold the opposite view).

Yes but it's a good thing to be sung once' date=' with the whole ground joining in. Surely you can stand up once?[/quote'].....well, ok then.....but only if the words are changed to "Stand up if you hold Markus Liebherr in very high esteem indeed"....something more dignified that "love" :-)

Personally I prefer the "Glory Glory....." option mentioned earlier.

Yeah I hate it when the song requires you to stand up. The whole of the Itchen remain seated and look around at each other nervously waiting for someone else to do it. which they dont.

Leaves you with a feeling of embarassment and makes it look like you dont love the saints. Just dont fancy standing up, thanks.

Glory glory one sounds good. Would be amazing if we could do it really slowly!

Most of our songs would be amazing if sung slowly but they all ways get highjacked by the younger fans and end up sounding like a race to the end!!

Note, for me its Glory, Glory!!!

Anybody here seen my friend Marcus?

Anyone know where he's gone?

He saved my football club

But it seems the good die young.

I just turned around and he was gone.

And no, 62 is not old these days, Marcus was still young.

Tuuuuuuuunneee?

You obviously were not around in the sixties! Famous song about Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King and John Kennedy's assassinations. I remember the song well, it was a big hit for Marvin Gaye in 1969. It was called 'Abraham, Martin and John' and I am sure you would know it if you heard it but I guess that is not much use!

What about, to the song of "His name is McManara"?

His name is Markus Liebherr

He's the saviour of our team (What team?)

The greatest football team that the world has ever seen

He spent his cash, we got the sash for all the world to see

We're all a part of Markus Leibher's great big legacy.

La la la la etc

Liverpool turned "I'll Never Walk Alone' in an internationally known anthem. To turn Saints into the Club that Markus dreamed of, a dream that every Saints Supporter dreams of, we too need a strong anthem. In remembering Markus and the promise he made to each and everyone of us, I thought how appropriate, how moving would be. I Vow to Thee" not "Country" but "Southampton" What better tribute, what more rousy anthem to inspire our players.

I VOW TO THEE SOUTHAMPTON

I vow to thee, Southampton

All earthly things above

Entire and whole and perfect

The service of my love

The love that asked no questions

The love that stood the test

That lays upon the alter

The dearest and the best

The love that never falters

The love that paid the price

The love that made undaunted

The final sacrifice

If you want everybody in the stadium to sing it has to be one that everybody knows and feels comfortable with. Once the noisy side starts it off unless the rest know the words they won't/can't join in so it will just be the usual Northam/back of the Itchen north. There really is only one tune WTSGMI that everybody would sing.

Agreed. I think changing a line, permanently, would be a fitting tribute.

Oh when the saints, go marching in.

Oh when the saints go marching in.

Marching on, with markus liebherr.

Oh when the saints go marching in.

That sounds better :-)
