Obviously for MK Dons and Leyton Orient the main chant will be "One Markus Liebherr" but I think we need a few more to show our thanks as well as a 'win the league for Markus' chant

Any ideas?

RIP

There is one that has been doing the rounds at away games... does involve slating the skates and 'arry though, so maybe not quite so appropriate as a tribute unless we change the last bit!

How about changing Michael Svenssons song to something fitting for Markus?

Svensson song was to the tune of 'I love you baby..'

Oh Michael Svensson

You are the love of my life

Oh Michael Svensson

I'll let you **** my wife

Oh Michael Svensson

We want ginger hair tooooo

Maybe...

Oh Markus Liebherr

You came and saved our club

oh Markus Liebherr

(something here)

Oh Markus Liebherr

We will always miss yoooou

Here is a suggestion:

Rest in peace Markus Liebherr!

Rest in peace as a saint!

Also, Southampton football club

Is in your hands!

(not sure its that good but here is a link to the tune!)

Also:

Markus Liebheeeeeeeeerrr

Markus Liebheeeeeeeeerrr

You will be missed

You amazing owner

You will be missed

I think a mod should sticky this.

Please post your idears for the game on Sataday.

I will be taking a flag saying RIP Markus Liebherr!

Glory Glory Markus Liebherr

Very apt. Excellent suggestion.

The words say it all.

Its down to him that Saints are still able to Go Marching On...

Glory glory Markus Liebherr,

Glory glory Markus Liebherr

Glory glory Markus Liebherr

...and the Saints Go Marching On On On...

You are our Liebherr,

Our Markus Liebherr,

You made us happy,

When skys were grey.

You'll never know just,

How much we love you,

Please don't take our Liebherr away.

nice, but we need to keep it simple so all can join in.

Just the chorus to "hey Jude" to "La la la Liebherr"

Like that, nice and uplifting 'which is what he did for our club, seems right that we should remember him that way', with the whole ground getting involved it would sound fantastic and bring a tear to the eye.

Or possibly changing the lyrics to 'You take me up' by the Thompson twins to something more fitting.

Or how about putting negativity to one side, the minutes applause and 25k+ getting behind the team putting us on the road to The Premier League like he wanted???????

And now your resting,

Saints still winning,

AND WE'LL ALWAYS SING YOUR NAME

Personally, with our ability to sing OWTS, I think a slow rendition of Amazing grace would not only be fitting but fairly apt also.

Amazing grace! (How sweet the sound)

That saved a wretch like me!

I once was lost, but now am found,

Was blind, but now I see.

Followed by some Liebherr chants.

hate to be pedantic, but surely it should be "and the saints go marching In In In"??

Marcus, you helped us but we never helped you,

We needed you but you didn't need us

So we want to tell you,

Goodbye, goodbye.

Marcus, you left us but we'll never leave you,

We still need you but you no longer need us,

So we want to tell you,

Goodbye, goodbye.

I like that - taken from a great song, too. Not so sure that the St Mary's crowd would cope too well with the tune though...

I just thought of a swiss connection...

So, to the tune of The Sound Of Music:

The Saints are alive cos of Marcus Liebherr,

and we'll go marching on for a thousand years,

The Saints are alive thanks to Marcus Liebherr,

and we'll go marching on for a thousand years.

Admit it, it works!

To nick Alpine's excellent idea from another thread I reckon

"Win it for Markus" [clap clap clapclap clap]

works pretty well

If you want everybody in the stadium to sing it has to be one that everybody knows and feels comfortable with. Once the noisy side starts it off unless the rest know the words they won't/can't join in so it will just be the usual Northam/back of the Itchen north. There really is only one tune WTSGMI that everybody would sing.

I dunno, I think every one knows the tune to 'glory glory'.

"que sera sera,

Or just finish with "Markus Liebherr,Markus Liebherr...."

Stand up if you love Liebherr.

To make it less formal ... " Stand up if you love Markus " is a definite winner ..... simple ... you can join in at any stage, and , well, just about sums up how about every single one of us feels about the man.

We loved him for saving us, we loved his unassuming nature and more than anything else we loved the fact that he loved our club and wanted to return it to its rightful place.

And finally ... watching him take photos of the team collecting the cup at Wembley .... he was like a proud grandfather taking pictures of his grandchildren at a school sports day. That wasn't pounds shillings and pence registering in his head ... that was pride at something that was a part of his legacy.

For that I will gladly stand up and sing till I have no voice left!!

Orient at home is going to be a very emotional return for me indeed.
