Carling cup 2nd round - Bolton at home

My thoughts as well. Yes it's a a Premier League team, but a poor unattractive one. Surely a tenner would have generated a much higher gate and therefore more renenue at the food outlets etc.

but then people would have moaned that the Bournemouth game was £15. £18 for a prem side in the cup isnt that bad really, would people moan if it were v Arsenal / Man Utd

no **** shurlock but its still a prem side, thats my point. Would people still moan? No, they wouldnt. I dont know about you but I pay to go watch my team, not who we are playing

But a lot of others won't go unfortunately, whether we like it or not. Do you think £18-20 for Round 2 of the Carling Cup against Bolton is a good price? Can't see Bolton bringing down too many at all either.

Yes, I do especially when Bournemouth was £15. £3 more to see a prem side, regardless of how poor we may think they are. Isnt that bad.

I couldnt see Bolton bringing too many if it were only a tenner either ;-)

Still cant book your own seat if you are a Season Ticket Holder online then.

That means you have to phone up I assume and incurr the £3 booking fee !!

Think you pay the £3 booking fee doing it over the net as well, so doesn't make much difference (Inconvenient I know).

Fair enough, but you're going to be in the minority I think. We will see.

Would of thought a fairly good chance of being on Sky.. Know that doesn't really do us any favours cos we always lose on Sky but surely they'll see the chance of an upset for the cameras...

Unlikely IMO, pretty sure they will go for Accrington V Newcastle and then maybe Blackburn V Norwich or Everton V Huddersfield

On SSN after the break.

I do not know about the rest of you, however, when you look at the amount of games played in a season and how important promotion is to Saints this season; do some of you think that the League cup could and should be dispenced with, I for one would not be sorry to see it go, but I would like to get a feel if I am in a minority regarding this issue.

Exactly people moaned about the Bournemouth prices, but we still had 13,000 of our supporters turn up which was more than we had last season for Birmingham in 2nd round when we charged £10 a head

Yes, because despite the majority of us saying we don't care about Bournemouth, the fact that it was a local side coming with big support made it a bit more interesting, hence a fair few made the effort to go when they might not have bothered for a lot of potential opponents. Birmingham, like Bolton, just won't get people interested I'm afraid. Hope it is a good crowd, but just can't see it with these prices.

they are ridiculous prices well off the mark. It is the 2nd round of the league cup against really unattractive opposition, will be a tiny crowd. Cortese will be rubbing his hands together as with no season tickets and a short selling period there will be plenty of ticket tax collected as well.

Once upon a time we got good crowds for games like this with sensible pricing. I will be amazed if there is more than 12k for this.

Compared to Reading, who have much fairer pricing, which also gives discount to season ticket holders

starting from £7 for an adult. we could have got close to 20k with pricing like that in the school holidays

Don't think £18 is that bad a price to be honest, considering it's a Premiership team too. I expect if we do ever get back to the Prem the single ticket price for the same fixture in the league would be nearly double that.

Am disappointed I can't get my ST seat again, kinda thought that was the benefit of having one.

Reading are playing Northampton of league two, we are playing Bolton of the premiership.

i think that is irrelevant, it is still a carling cup 2nd round tie against an unglamarous team unlikely to attract a decent crowd, hence demand low so attract fans with pricing iniative, this is more likely to put people off. and it doesn't matter how much it would cost to go to a game in the premiership, Arsenal charge £10 for some of their carling cup games

Firstly, enough already with the Cortese bashing. V. tiresome.

Secondly, don't both clubs need to agree a reduction to standard ticket pricing? Maybe Bolton weren't up for it?

enough of over-pricing and rip offs. that is becoming tiresome.

Its hardly irrelevant, you're only saying it is because i poked a massive hole in your argument, yes Bolton aren't as glamourous as a United, Arsenal, Spurs or even pompey but i can understand the higher pricing for a team 3 divisions higher than the team Reading are playing.

I'm sure bolton of the almighty premiership will attract a big crowd of course you're right, all our glory hunters are coming out of the woodwork and i've even had requests for tickets from people who aren't saints fans! I'm pleased saints are not being like Reading and rewarding season ticket holders with reductions for low key early round cup games.

To be honest it's irrelevent to me that they're a Premiership team because they are still Bolton, a club with a mediocre fanbase, so SMS is going to be dead.

Out of interest what is the record smallest crowd for a competitive match at st marys? Think it might be Torquay last year, but between Bolton at home and a potential jpt 1st round game it could be broken

I agree. Without wanting to Labour my gripe with the booking fee/higher prices on the day, these factors will imo lead to a record low gate at some point this season. Things are tough in the current economic climate and football is a luxury expense which combined with the ever increasing logistical expenses will undoubtedly lead to many having to reduce the number of games they attend.

people said they got season ticket's wrong - sales beat last years including the Xmas sales -far exceeding predictions on here.

people said the Bournemouth pricing was wrong - we had 17,135 for a midweek game - think someone said it was the highest in the competition.

would like it to be cheaper, as we all would...

...guess moans will continue.

NickG, bournemouth was always going to attract a good crowd due to the fact they are a local team, Bolton on the other hand are about as dreary a draw as there is.

Rather than trying to be clever, do you think £21 to watch Bolton (possibly their reserve side) play Saints in the Carling Cup 2nd round is the right price?
