Saints V B'mouth match thread

AP has never struck me as the sort of manager who would tear strips of the lads at half time after a poor performance. He seems more of a 'hand round the shoulders and you can do it lads' sort of manager.

What they need is a firm spanking at half time. Shorts and jockeys down, bend over and a firm hand.

This side of ours is not fit... what the hell were they doing pre season, certainly not working hard enough!

playing teams of lower league standard so as we are up to speed with the top teams of this league !!!!

I would suspect Farnborough are already booked for next year !!

disagree with you , I saw him right in Harding's face last week screaming 'What the **** you doing!'

He might be sucking out the confidence with his ranting and raving perhaps?

Really hard to judge from a radio commentary, but on paper at least, the team we have out there should be good enough for this game. Sounds like a bright start but somewhere we've lost shape and let them believe they have the beating of us.

Would love to be a fly on the wall for the 1/2 time talk......

This is what is worrying me... Usually about as biased as they come, yet we still sound utter tripe.

Really? Alpine and some of the other children are able to judge whole seasons from it.

Indeed, I'm aware that both the KGB and the CIA invested considerable sums in the technology - Remote Viewing - or some such. Hadn't realised before joining this board last year how much the tech had advanced though, I am in awe :-)

Why are people over-reacting? Get a grip. And no, before anyone says, I'm not happy with our sluggish start to the season either, but we've only played one and a half matches and already people are making out that we're in a crisis!

And to say that Bournemouth shouldn't be testing us and that we should be out of sight already is arrogant and disrespectful to our opposition. Look around at some other half-time scores tonight. There are a number of League Two sides beating Championship and League One teams, so calm down.

Our star player is yet to kick a ball this season and inevitably we're feeling his absence. Yes, our displays thus far have highlighted the need to strengthen, but trust me, work is going on to improve the squad.

I don't normally bite like this, but I just can't believe how some people are making out that our season is over after losing to a recently-relegated Championship side and being held at home in the Cup.

Nuff said.

Is there anyone, anyone at all, disappointed that we didn't win at the weekend and disappointed that we're not winning now, but not at the point of absolute desperation as yet?

Or is it just me that hasn't got the razor blades out just yet?

Come on man, this is straw-clutching and you know it.

just out of interest why should we beating them? They're in the same division as us on merit, on a roll with a good manager in a game that means far, far more to them than us. Not to mention that they have a superb away following behind them too, and a point to prove against the bigger south coast side.

Whereas if we are taken to pieces by MK Dons we'll know we've gone backwards from last season as they're a team we walked around on four different occasions.

yes, it would have been good to win on Sat, but it's not the end of the world.

I dont really care about the Carling Cup and I expect Cortese doesnt give a sh*t either, especially as he apparently wants the league to take preference over any cup run.

We havent got the squad to be in three different cup runs this season. I prefer we lose tonight, in the FA cup 1st round and the JPT and be top of the league come XMAS

Thank you.

The shape does seem wrong and, on the basis of Saturday, it seems to me that there's too much going down the left.

Is Dickson the problem? On the face of it, he was not needed. He's a LB and Harding was as good as anyone last season with Mills as good cover. So we're playing him out of position where Lallana should be.

And of course it's becoming obvious how much we use the long ball and without RL it doesn't work.

At least we can still bring on our impact subs of Papa and Antonio. Oh sh!t, we can't.

I think...but was only half listening...the Saintsplayer commentator just said something like "and we are waiting on news as to whether Southampton are going to sign Nicky Butt or Robert Koren"

Any otehr listeners confirm?

Apols if he was just reading out a (speculative) text.

Anyone?

yeah. but we are league favourites and as such should at least have one goal on the tally sheet so far this season after 135 minutes. Goals win seasons. Yes, lambo is benched but that will happen during the season again and the others need to adapt.... and score. Like I said above (and have been saying for three years now) we have GOT to do better at corners. First half on saturday we had a tonne of them and no where near scoring. Poor.

That won't stop Cortese getting rid.

even if Saints win 4-0 the same people will just pick up and moan about the first half display

You would have a point but Dickson is playing LB
