Maybe in LaLa land but never in the real world. :(

I wouldn't be so sure, I've always thought that O'Neill is a bit of a maverick so maybe he could be tempted.

From O'Neill's POV it would be a chance to run an underperforming club that has has big resources and become a hero into the bargain. It just might be something that would get his juices going - much more exciting than premiership mediocrity.

That all said, I don't think it will happen and I'm quite happy to stick with AP anyway, I think he'll get us out of lge 1 this season.

With the exception of future ones, yes of course

One match does not make a season I agree

But you can see the way things are heading

Pardew cannot/does not know how to change tactics during a match, to turn things around

And, it is now painfully obvious that he is NOT going to get funds to add to the squad

I wonder why ???

Can you please give me the reasons why this is "painfully obvious"?

does it matter tonight though...not really a cup we should be focusing on. season isnt over in 2 games no matter what people say on here.

im sure there are countless examples of teams losing first two games of season and still being successful.

We are supposed to be (re-)building a "winning mentality". If we cannot even beat a team we were giving charity hand-outs to a few years ago in the form of friendlies, FFS.........

The fact it took Cortese so long to back Pardew last season was very odd imo. That said I don't think AP is as good a manager as you and others think. We seem to have one way of playing (plan a) and if that doesn't work that's that. Breaking down teams that put 11 men behind the ball is always tricky, but this is the hand we're going to be dealt most games and we just aren't good enough at doing it.

I think AP will walk before being pushed, if true that there is no further funds for players then this would speed this process up. Think the next 5 games are pivotal.

Oh, sorry ..... have I missed the new CM, striker, etc etc ?????

I expect they will be slotted in tonight without me realising

The transfer window closes 31st August and then the loan window is open. I'm fairly sure if the right player for AP was available for the right fee then he'd be here now. We don't know what goes on in transfer dealings & we don't know his specific targets. One game doesn't make a season and

So, this is your rock-solid reasoning behind the statement "And, it is now painfully obvious that he is NOT going to get funds to add to the squad"?

Because all clubs buy their new players before the season starts do they?? No point in having a transfer window that lasts longer than the beginning of the season is there? We didn`t buy most of our better players after the season started did we? Unbelievable!!

Late-in-the-day transfer activity offers NC the opportunity to hedge his bets about the manager position.

Bl00dy hell, I get home from nights, have a kip, and wake up to yet another thread slagging off our club. I wonder where all the moderation is on here, reference trolling. It is the same old names, quick to force their opinions on the rest of us, dressed up as fact, and woe betide, anyone who dare disagree with them. Some of you are a disgrace, and if you can't find it in your hearts to actually support the club, then ferk of and support Man City or such. Maybe the club is NOT being run in the manner you wish it to be, but it is being run, and honestly at that. I laugh at that troll Alpine, decrying the Saints after loosing their first match, something which is commonplace in our history. Alps, take a rest, your continual spite, is spoiling this board for proper fans, and take those trolling apprentices Stu and Hypo with you, of, and save a place for the writer of this OP.:x

The transfer window ends 31st August

I would venture to suggest that of all Clubs in Div 1 should have had the resources to get the players they want well before the start of the season

The closer it gets to the deadline, the more a Club has to pay generally speaking, that's assuming that SFC are in the market

I don't think we are in the market, and, judging from Pardews "amended" comments, ie "2more signings", then "it will be tight", then sillence, I'm sure he knows that as well

Hardly surprising; it means after all the hype, the club is p*ssing its renaissance / rebirth up against a wall........

Your double standards are astonishing! Accusing others of being OTT and then you make a statement like the one above after 1 game?! Oh and regarding our your comments about threads being hi-jacked by anti cortese posts, it's annoying isn't it?....maybe you should think back to pre-season where every comment you wrote on nearly every thread was about our "half arsed" transfer activity.

Who are you to decide who can post or not ? I have been defending NC and the running of the club, but yes, I think the team is being managed poorly and will dare to say so until something is done.

And so it has proven. It might only be one proper league match, but we were told endlessly on here it would all change from the dire pre-season to the first whistle of the real season. Guess what ? It didnt change, and we face the ultimate embarassment of struggling against Bournemouth, a club we used to prop up, this evening...

Not yet...when there is no chance for us to make any signings or loans I will say you were right.

And we could just as easily hammer Bournemouth 5-0 but you have already made your mind up as to what is going to happen and you could be right but until the ball moves from the centre circle nobody knows

I don't decide, but I know a troll when I read one, and whilst I agree with you on one post in a hundred, I reserve the right to say that your posts are inflamatry to say the least, and are designed to cause argument. That is argument Alps, not debate, I have called you negative in the past, and I stand by that, you have nothing good to say about the Saints. Try taking a couple of weeks off, let the board have some good feel threads, take the other trolling posters with you, have a trolls convention or something!

Yep, its called an OPINION. I think we will struggle tonight.

Telling someone to go away for a few weeks because you cannot hack their opinion or consistency of it is really quite pitiable.

Where do you say that this is your opinion..

You write it as a statement of fact. If you don't want a defence of all things Saints, I suggest you try moderating your writing style.

The last recourse of a scoundrel - when proven wrong, pick up on the lack of the use of the words "I think" or "imo"...

FFS I thought that I was a miserable old git! How many more threads do we need on this subject??? Yes, communication has been bad or non-existant in most cases, and yes some decisions that have been taken have been unpopular and even mystifying. Is there "an obvious cut back on purchase of new players"?? I don`t see it. We have signed, what, three new players so far? We have held on to our best ones. We did all of our best business last year well after the start of the season. Be patient. As far as I `am aware we have only played one game so far this season (when we played very well for 45 mins) and yet the wrist-slitting has started already.

I am sick to death of the posters who post their opinions as fact and who seem to want just "Wallow in their own crapulence" (Thank You Mr Burns) and hope that things go badly so that they can all say "I told you so. You wouldn`t listen to me, would you!"

Please start you own "Depressive Saints Online" forum before turning this one into an advert for Dignitas!!

Agree entirely.

Surely the purpose of the moderators is to close down threads that merely regurgitate the same old rubbish that is already being spouted on other threads. But then another thread was added by a moderator to the others b*tching about the photographers' being banned from the ground, so I am not anticipating that action will be taken in a hurry to bring some order to the forum.

It is all becoming very tedious and having only recently renewed my membership, I wonder a few days after whether it was the right decision. Alpine made a decent enough suggestion that there ought to be a dedicated thread solely for the purpose of providing an outlet for all those who wish to have a dig at our chairman, instead of hijacking every other thread to do the same thing, but surprise, surprise, that thread was locked.

How about locking this one too, Mods? Some consistency might be nice.

An opinion is not a fact. FACT.

But I don't believe things that I am unsure about. So if I have an opinion, it is because I believe it to be fact. Therefore, it is a fact, otherwise I would be believeing something that is not true, which would be stupid. I only believe the things that are true. FACT. And OPINION.

For the record, I do actually agree there are too many threads on the photo ban subject. I also agree that those who just seem to enjoy wallowing in negativity and saying 'I told you so' if something turns out to come true, adds no value to this site whatsoever.

I also think this site is pretty tedious, but because when I try and raise my concerns in any given thread, more often than not the subject gets lost amongst the abuse and insults and complete inability of a large number of posters to respect a different opinion to their own and debate it in a constructive way, rather than some of the rubbish we end up with.

The mods have a tough job. I've been there, done it, got numerous t-shirts. They can't be on here all the time, and frankly, they only have to moderate when the posters themselves can't behave themselves or sort themselves out. The fact they have to do so much, says more about the posters than it does about the mods.

Used to really enjoy this site with insights about training, takeovers, signings, reports on away games, etc. but it has become rather tedious because of a small number of rude, negative, abusive posters who would all seem to hope we end up in the Zamaretto League with Salisbury. They don't reflect the people who I sit with in the Kingsland - probably because we are actually watching every match and can see positives in performances even if we lose. It's the same handful of whingers, most of whom have not attended the matches so don't know what they are talking about, who are making what used to be a good forum, extremely boring and depressing.

I usually sit in the Kingsland when I go, and I can confirm that the screaming abuse me and my two small sons have heard there from those around us approaches Windmill Arm 2 proportions......
