I thought Pele was a pretty classy holding MF, he was a poor CB but then I'm sure he didn't ask to be played there.

 

Overall an infinitely better player than Viafara but because Viafara ran around a lot he was a hero while Pele was ridiculed... largely, as I recall, for having the temerity to allow himself to be referred to as 'Pele'

Decent as holding midfielder,dodgy as centre back.His days here were numbered when he gave away needless penalty against Derby

in play off semi-finals in 2006/07. That mistake ultimately cost us any chance of reaching Wembley and winning promotion.

Actually he was a CB for most of his career, he converted to CM when he came to us.

Very good player in midfield- would coast into our current side. Though safri was a v.good player in his own right, we lost some real pace and power after WBA coughed up a £1m for him.
