TijuanaTim Posted 7 August, 2010 Posted 7 August, 2010 Please don't shoot the messenger...and yes, this is a pretty random source, however if he is off from Benfica should Saints pursue him? He is a terrific little player. http://worldsoccerreader.com/2010/08/los-angeles-galaxy-close-to-signing-freddy-adu/
buctootim Posted 7 August, 2010 Posted 7 August, 2010 I thought that was a wind up at first, assumed LA Galaxy must pay massive salaries and Saints could nver compete. Amazed to discover average MLS wage is around $100,000pa (£1,400pw). http://www.caughtoffside.com/2010/03/13/mls-set-to-strike-over-pay-new-season-and-american-soccer-as-a-whole-could-be-shelved/
SET Posted 7 August, 2010 Posted 7 August, 2010 no hes awful. could not even pass a trial at some back water Scandinavian club
RedArmy Posted 7 August, 2010 Posted 7 August, 2010 LMFAO. We haven't got a hope in hell of signing Adu. FFS.
buctootim Posted 7 August, 2010 Posted 7 August, 2010 no hes awful. could not even pass a trial at some back water Scandinavian club Not saying we should sign him, he failed a trial at a Swiss club too, just amazed how little US soccer pays players
SET Posted 7 August, 2010 Posted 7 August, 2010 also sure i read that he had a trial at man utd, but was not even deemed good enough to train with the kids.
TijuanaTim Posted 7 August, 2010 Author Posted 7 August, 2010 also sure i read that he had a trial at man utd, but was not even deemed good enough to train with the kids. To be far, he really is a good player.
TijuanaTim Posted 7 August, 2010 Author Posted 7 August, 2010 well no he clearly is not I respect your opinion mate, just reassess in a while. Especially if you have a chance to watch him.
Weston Super Saint Posted 7 August, 2010 Posted 7 August, 2010 I respect your opinion mate, just reassess in a while. Especially if you have a chance to watch him. Which is unlikely since he is unable to find a team where he can pass the trial.....
SuperMikey Posted 7 August, 2010 Posted 7 August, 2010 Tbf, he's the kind of player we're missing. Someone with a bit of flair and pace, with a creative spark. Worth a trial at least!
Saint-Armstrong Posted 24 February, 2014 Posted 24 February, 2014 Freddy Adu - ten years on from his debut... interesting interview.
Colinjb Posted 24 February, 2014 Posted 24 February, 2014 Epic bump! Amazing how he has completely disappeared off the radar.
jimbojones10 Posted 24 February, 2014 Posted 24 February, 2014 hes failed to get a deal at blackpool and people say hes quality and exactly what we need! jesus christ, i retire from this forum

Super_Saint Posted 24 February, 2014 Posted 24 February, 2014 Once dubbed the next "Pele", turned out to be the next Rohan Ricketts.
Monk Posted 25 February, 2014 Posted 25 February, 2014 I watched him play for a bit in the summer whilst helping out at a Nike event, he was contracted abroad at the time. Broke my heart, he wasn't the Freddy Adu we expected and was blowing after 25 minutes. I had no opportunity to talk to him directly, really wanted to ask him about the Saints link and more importantly about his ex JoJo(Google her)
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 25 February, 2014 Posted 25 February, 2014 Once a player has sold his soul to play in the States there is no coming back into proper football.
TijuanaTim Posted 25 February, 2014 Author Posted 25 February, 2014 Freddy Adu - ten years on from his debut... interesting interview. Didn't turn out so well, sounds a really nice and well adjusted young fella tho'. Good luck to him.
CB Saint Posted 25 February, 2014 Posted 25 February, 2014 a case of "much adu about nothing" me thinks
Smirking_Saint Posted 2 March, 2014 Posted 2 March, 2014 I watched him play for a bit in the summer whilst helping out at a Nike event, he was contracted abroad at the time. Broke my heart, he wasn't the Freddy Adu we expected and was blowing after 25 minutes. I had no opportunity to talk to him directly, really wanted to ask him about the Saints link and more importantly about his ex JoJo(Google her) That unfit ?!? Christ, I have pops at some of the players I play with for not being fit enough and thats a decent saturday league level, way I see it there is no excuse to not be fit. What makes it even worse is you are talking about professional football. How do you expect to get anywhere half fit ?
melmacian_saint Posted 2 March, 2014 Posted 2 March, 2014 I remember when he turned up in Portugal at the time. Made headlines during weeks in the summer, cover photos on Pele's lap included. Was a flop through and through. Not that magical a touch, and certainly not that dazzling a pace. Hadn't realized he only got off Benfica's books in 2011.
Grey Crab Posted 2 March, 2014 Posted 2 March, 2014 Another "terrific" American player, brought to you by Tijuana Tim. He sure can spot them.
