TBF our wide play and delivery was very very good, we just couldn't put them away, Hammond had two headers that should have at least hit the target, with a big man up front we would probably have had at least one.

Whatever people want to say about the game today we badly missied Lambert or another big centre forward to cover for him. We also missed the pace Antonio and Waigo gave us - and options off the bench

 

with those three in the squad we probably would have won today - and drawn at worst

Agree with people - the width wasn't a problem, the issue was the lack of presence up front in the absence of lambert.

 

We do still need a bit of pace on the bench so we can change the game though.

Firstly, I suspect that both NC and AP are aware that we need one or two more bodies, but they have to be the right ones, not just signings for the sake of it. I think that most of our signings came after the season started last year. We will not be the only ones buying players in the next few weeks. They will all be fine-tuning their squads for a few weeks yet. Secondly, We were by far the better team in the first half today, although I do agree that we were awful after going a goal down early in the second half. So all of this doom and gloom is based on 45 mins of the first game of the season, is it?? The OP is way OTT.

As much as I would like Antonio as a squad player, looking at the difference he made when he had the opportunity was not that great. Waigo's pace was a different matter when playing up front, they would not have tried pressing the back four up so high in the second half with Waigo about. Both players failed to impress consistently, but Waigo definitely had something different.

Admittably, I watched it on sky. But I thought he had a good game. Good positionally, was up against a very big strong RB today, but crosses were fantastic. Don't understand why he is getting **** on here. I actually thought he was our best player today.
