Smirking_Saint Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 The people who support saints but only when it suits them stand out like a sore thumb on here... ITS YOUR TEAM, SO WHAT IF ITS ONLY THE CUP. GET OUT THERE AND SUPPORT THEM! Yeah its 16 quid but its a small price to see the team you love play.... I do thanks But this will be a reserve run out, and like i said, R1 of a cup we are gonna go nowhere in doesn't bother me. In fact, i would hope any players that are on the edge of fitness are not risked tonight, bompy or not.
Liquidshokk Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 I do thanks But this will be a reserve run out, and like i said, R1 of a cup we are gonna go nowhere in doesn't bother me. In fact, i would hope any players that are on the edge of fitness are not risked tonight, bompy or not. It was just a no brainer for me, regardless of whether a few reserves are likely to play or not.. its 16 quid. And no I'm not loaded and the money may have been better spent on other things. The rain, wind or team selection doesnt come into it, for me personally. If it was 27 quid for tonights game I probably wouldn't have gone though, admittedly.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 I personally couldn't give a rats bum to this game. I couldn't have my season ticket as I wasn't exited enough to go get my ticket in the first few days of them being on sale, so the part timers have filled out the northam stand with there kids aswell, which will make the atmosphere even worse than Saturday. Plus, I have a yoghurt in the fridge that goes out of date tonight, that is far more important than spending £15 odd to watch Bornmoof in a cup I couldn't care less about. Derby my anus.
Weston Saint Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 Put out the strongest team available. No need to rest anyone (unless carrying an injury). This is only the 2nd competative match of the season and there is plenty of time to recover for Saturday. We are not prioritising this competition according to Pardew on Solent. Saints are prioritising cup competitions they can win, JPT I assume. However, the loss on Saturday has left him with a delemma. I suspect he will use this to condition the strongest first team.
Junction 9 Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 I like the way we are barely mentioning the fact we are barely mentioning this game.
eelpie Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 Guess jealousy comes into it as noone likes it when clubs suddenly have a wealthy owner and naturally they buy their way out of the league. Well this may not last for ever because as soon as Cortese gets tired of Southampton and leaves (which some on this site seem to want) taking Marcus with him (which nobody wants) we will be back to square one. If we lose against Bournemouth, who are up for this and determined to win, while we are bit blase and overconfident, expect Nicola to be reconsidering what he is doing here, and reacting accordingly. I hope I am wrong..

It's actually the ideal opportunity. Bompey will be up for it so it's going to be no 'friendly' therefore our team should be at it's strongest but we should go on pitch with a plan B and change to it when needed. Forget the result, it's only Bompey and it will give them a boost if they win. It's all about the performance. Should we perform well and smash them out of sight would be a big bonus though!
Fergie Posted 10 August, 2010 Author Posted 10 August, 2010 too many sh1t fans at this club. will be an embarrasment if the attendance is not at least 20,000. this is a local rivalry game and one which we should all be excited to go and see. Get behind your ****ing team you support, have a few beers, sing some songs together and have a good time seeing your club win. Either that or go and support another club who might charge less for a ticket to she sh1tter teams play (eastleigh perhaps). Not enough real fans at this club anymore. I'm getting the train from Chichester tonight for the game and then back after...so its not ecatly easy and cheap for me either damn some fans p1ss me off!! rant over!

itchen_dan Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 Expecting a couple of tweaks/changes for tonights "derby". I'd play Davis Butterfield Fonte Seaborne Dickson Oxlade-C Hammond Puncheon Holmes Barnard Connolly
dune Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 If I lived local then the chances are I'd go, but I don't so I won't. * Damn, you beat me. Ditto. I can't see how any Saints fan who's local would not want to go to a derby game. I know it's not Pompey, but theyre still a local team.

for_heaven's_Saint Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 I wish I was going, but I literally can't afford it. Am I still allowed to support us?

ITS YOUR TEAM, SO WHAT IF ITS ONLY THE CUP. GET OUT THERE AND SUPPORT THEM! Yeah its 16 quid but its a small price to see the team you love play.... It's £18 today and it's a minor Cup game sandwiched between 2 League games If most of us don't turn up maybe they'll price the next Cup game more reasonably.
Liquidshokk Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 I wish I was going' date=' but I literally can't afford it. Am I still allowed to support us?[/quote'] Thats perfectly acceptable Bless you

I was amazed at my ambivalence when the fixture was drawn but here we are. Interesting. I would also like to see Bournemouth do well, have watched them quite a lot down the years but I would hate it if they beat us tonight. Got my ticket a few weeks back, thought £15 was a fair price.
OWTS Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 Can't wait tbh. **** the fans who choose not to go, if they can't afford fair enough, but some simply CBA. It is a local game and I don't want Dorset to have the bragging rights. Hopefully the true Saints fans turn up.

Sorry fergie but I am happy with just having a season ticket and going to 10 away games a season. You are my hero.

It is a local game and I don't want Dorset to have the bragging rights. Hopefully the true Saints fans turn up. at least some of us are up for it. If people are true fans they'd turn up. some of us went to every single JPT game last season and just watched the rest gradually jump on the band wagon to the point where i nearly didnt get a ticket to wembley. Some people need a lesson in how to support their club through thick and thin, good and bad games.
Fergie Posted 10 August, 2010 Author Posted 10 August, 2010 What bragging rights?? Does it have to be said again "THEY ARE NOT A RIVALRY" IF/when pompey go bust bournemouth will in fact be our closest rivals...perhaps this is a curtain raiser for a future rivalry as i for one cannot see pompey getting out of the the mess they are in!!
dune Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 What bragging rights?? Does it have to be said again "THEY ARE NOT A RIVALRY" But if we lose they'll be singing from the rooftops. Let's keep them in their place as the little noddy club that we don't care about.

These are games that I think alot of us just can't warrant spending £15, £16, £18 on! I went to this round last year, as I did all the JPT apart from Lego FC away. Just because I am not going to a game that I personally cannot get enthused about, so cannot warrant the money for ticket, plus the train, plus a a few beers... That makes me a sh1t fan? Wake up.

If the Skates go bust we will have no local rivals. As for future rivalry? No, our rivals are the Skates and whatever pheonix club would rise from the ashes (If it comes to that...).
SaintNeil90 Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 What bragging rights?? Does it have to be said again "THEY ARE NOT A RIVALRY" Alot of Bournemouth and Southampton fans work together. Maybe there isnt a traditional football rivalry there but there most definitely is bragging rights.
supersonic Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 If tonights match ends as a draw, does it go to a replay or extra-time/penalties?

The9 Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 Am I alone in not giving a fat rats arse about tonights game? Nope, I'm actually going and I couldn't care less what happens as long as no-one gets injured. Quicker we're out of the cups this season the better, pick half the youth team and fringe players and give them some experience. Though here's my preferred team for tonight : Bart (needs the practise), Pulis, Pulis, Pulis, Pulis; Pulis, Pulis, Pulis, Pulis; Pulis, Pulis. Have we got more fans going than them yet ?
OldNick Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 im at this time not going and not at all enthralled. I expect us to lose and will not shed any sleep over it. i will get some stick from some bournemouth fans, and even had a call today with them giving it large. The league games against them are far more important, our cup runs cost us last season

Nexstar Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 I asked the ticket office about the ticket sales for this game and was told that ticket numbers had not been released yet, which I thought was fairly obvious based on my questions. Attendance could be anywhere from 12,000-20,000
corsacar saint Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 My major worry before the season started was whether we can handle the pressure being favourites to go up. Every game now becomes must win[and must certainly at least draw],because os saturdays result. Consequently beating Bournemouth tonight and winning saturday at MK Dons[the worst side I saw the whole of last season] is an absolute necessity, anything less and unfair as it may seem,I think tenure of AP as manager is on very dodgy ground. As from tonight, we have to show we have that winning mentality, and ability to cope with the pressures,of being favourites to win the league.FWIW,I think we will finish runners up in the league.
Bailey Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 I have a horrible feeling that they'll do us tonight. Hear me out . . . We lost on Saturday so no doubt the players will be slightly nervy, and we're likley to field an under-strength side. Bournemouth will bring a lot of fans because it's a 'derby' and they'll be up for it, where as Saints will be prioritising the league and won't be as motivated IMO. Add to that the fact that we always seem to start the season in poor form and you have a potential upset on the cards.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 Really hoping for a good result tonight, we need to bring some confidence back to the side, and it being so soon after Plymouth may be good.
Fergie Posted 10 August, 2010 Author Posted 10 August, 2010 I think pardew will play the strongest side he can afford to. He always talks about getting the winning mentality into the team and how important it is so why would he play reserves and risk losing 2 home games on the trot... ...i fully expect to see rickie play tonight, if not he'll at least be on the bench. The winning mentality starts tonight, be there if you wanna go home with a smile on your face.

I feel so bad, i have treated this club like a cheap whore, only picking her up when i need her or have the money to show her a good time. You say you give lessons ? To make me a better fan ? I think i need it, i am in despair, i really am. Will i ever be quite as good as you ? Is it worth me even trying ? I doubt it. Sob
haggy Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 Blocks 6,7,8 were sold out in the itchen and also all of northam when i went down there earlier. should be a good turn out
Appy Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 Blocks 6,7,8 were sold out in the itchen and also all of northam when i went down there earlier. should be a good turn out Lets hope so. As usual with cup games the Northam will be full of 12 year olds i expect.

Pretty sure our team will be strong though. Can't believe people are actually up for us to not take this seriously. Apart from the fact that a winning mentality is something we are striving for, if we don't take this seriously and lose, this board will be in uproar. Add to the fact that we win this, we could get a Prem team or even better Pompey again and I see no reason not to take this seriously.

Im going into tonights game prepared for us to lose. purely because I really struggled with the disappointment after saturdays game Can't believe people are actually up for us to not take this seriously. Jones91 Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 aren't the police expecting loads of trouble? They are treating it as a pompey game
Liquidshokk Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 aren't the police expecting loads of trouble? They are treating it as a pompey game What makes you think this? Police Intel? The police caused the trouble at the pompey game through bad handling of fans. Tonight will be fine. Bless the little Bournemouth fans.
benjii Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 You have to at the Bournemouth fans a bit. They will turn up, 3,000+ (fair play) all excited about their big cup derby in our impressive stadium, to find a ground about one-third full with the vast majority of those being blanket and flask Itchen/Kingslanders, a few spotty oiks to their right to make up the atmosphere and, hopefully, a largely second-string Saints team on the pitch. Bournemouth.... derby? .... Don't think so! With any luck someone will have a big "Welcome to the Cherries, our friendly second club" banner or something.
dune Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 aren't the police expecting loads of trouble? They are treating it as a pompey game I think the most chance of trouble would be fisticuffs between Super Saint and Charlie Cherry.
iansums Posted 10 August, 2010 Posted 10 August, 2010 Apparently they have sold nearly 4,000: http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/8321810.Cherries__Mitchell_would_welcome_cup_windfall/

There's no segregation towards the middle of Itchen Block 1/2 so they can only be in the conventional away area, and I'm pretty sure Saints fans are in Block 41 too.

We do but Bournemouth have block 42. They have the same amount of the Northam stand as Pompey did.
