im guessing its gona be a full stadium tonight then cause with little under an hour till kick off its dead as a dead thing in here tonight

They're all watching Crossroads or East Enders or whatever.

Don't think they're be all that many at SMS tonight. 15K would be a result.

Apathy and lack of cash are hitting hard.

Very surprised that Paterson is chosen over Skacel, Skacel must really doing **** all in training. I just don't get it otherwise. Very attacking bench as well, who's gonna come on if one of the defenders gets injured?

What are you talking about, they're both on the bench

If a defender gets injured I suppose Cork drops back. Our midfield would be very lightweight then though. If Rudi has to come on I hope he's up to the job, if not, boy are we going to take a bashing (so will the Rudi lovers tomorrow as well).

4-4-2 tonight then it seems, very happy to see JP is able to change things to suit the best players available :)

I think it might work, could be a good game tonight :)

Having left him out for so long, I'd imagine Jan is unwilling to stick him straight in the starting line-up.

Fair enough if a player that had played for us this season would have started instead. But if the choice is young player that has been here for less then a week or experienced player that has been with the club for quite some time but has not featured this season I'd generally go for the latter (even if that means shifting some players around).

Shows just how much Jan rates Rudi doesn't it.

Perhaps he was only the squad last week because Rupert ordered Jan to put him in it.

Common sense would dictate so, but common sense has long since been locked up in the SMS dungeon along with Shergar and Youssef Safri.

JP clearly rates Robertson or he wouldn't have brought him in. We know he likes youth players and will (often blindly) stick them in the team ahead of far better senior players (White, Paterson and DMG in ahead of 19 goal a season Stern John, giving young Mr Lancashire his debut ahead of Perry at QPR etc.)

Surely Skacel and Roberston are very different? Roberston is a big centre forward,Skacel a left sided midfielder or defender. How can Robertson being chosen instead of Skacel? John is injured, JP knows we need to play 4-4-2 after all and so choses a big centre forward to partner Pekart. Skacel would need to replace either Surman (and that is not going to happen) or Mills?

But McG starting in midfield in front of yer Rudi ??

Jan obviously thinks Rudi's about worth as much as a nine bob note.

When a youngster does well it will be deemed that the current manager has abilitis that our previous manager didnt. when a youngster messes up we all scratch our head at what Jan was thinking.

Olly is being touted as being good enough so should get his chances although his debut againsts QPR could have gone better.

Also these kids are going to be relied upon sooner or later as the high earners would have been gone had we had serious offers for them.

I think 'blindly' is a bit harsh. For whatever reason, JP favours some players over others but, as the person that sees them day in day out at training, you have to respect his opinion.

Stern John has hardly set the world alight this season when he has played (remember the sitter of a header he missed against Birmingham which would have made it 2-0?). He also stated that he picked Lancashire ahead of Perry to counteract their pace.

I'm all for having a settled team but equally you need to consider how to counteract the oppositions strengths (big man, little man, quick man, slow man etc.). These are things, along with form, that people promoting their 'fans favorites' often forget.

Personally, although I like Stern John, he always strikes me as the kind of player that scores the spectacular, but quite often screws the easy ones into the Chapel.

That's sort of my point.

If Jan rates a kid, he will play him, even if at the time it doesn't seem the sensible choice, such as playing Cork and Lancashire together on a tough away day in favour of Perry.

I am not trying to debate whether Jan is right or wrong in this instance, more trying to give some reasoning to his decision.

Seriously attacking bench, but to be fair there's no one else to choose from aside from Jake Thompson. Who else is available to put on the bench?

Don't know what this debate is about, Stern John has a hamstring problem.

Im as confused as the next person at some of his selections. I think his lack of experience managing at this level is the one thing that lets him down. im sure the kids have got the skill but sometimes the experience gets you into positions without the effort.

Look at Teddy Sheringham!!! he played past his sell by date for years. I just dont think jans experience helps him when it comes down to knowledge of this league.
