I'm so in love Reginé.

if i was giving her lift home and she thought she could just fall asleep in the back seat while I'm doing all the driving, I'd be like Yo! Vegina! Stop fingering urself in back seat and sit up front and keep me company! You do have to speak FFS! I'm not taxi!

Isn't the track to which I assume you referring about her Mum, that died?

This is hardly my fault tokyos! It seems to me a perfectly simple, albeit dumb, song bout a bird who was too lazy to learn driving so was always cadging lifts & chilling out in the back seat while I am doing all the hard work + paying for petrol + insurance. It's a true to life situation cos I know many bitches like this! It's only Kelvin's Right Glove that is introducing the dead mum subtexts. I'm still not sure he ain't making it up.

No. no. no. Here is the lyrics as i remember them.

Alright? I like the peace in the backseat / It's pretty sweet! / I don't have to drive / I don't have to speak

/ I can watch on the countryside / And finger myself

I usually turn off bout then cos it's a pretty crap song, but i think we can agree there is no dead mums in it!

Edit:Here is dumb song! See for urself:

apparently so! Maybe you can also explain the one where he digs a tunnel into a girls bedroom but she escapes out the chimney. Was there more to that story than meets the eye? It got a bit confusing further in, i think he raped her in the snow but he couldn't think of any names for the babies.

I like the one where he talks about working in a church while his family dies. Surely those Bibles can be rearranged at another time and you can go and save your family like Bruce Willis does in Die Hard?

There's a very questionable logic to Arcade Fire songs, but they're still the best band about at the moment.

Will certainly be watching that in the near future. Watched the highlights of them from Reading the other day.

Still incredible.

They have this ability to make me gush uncontrollably - much to the annoyance of my housemate. She's going to have to deal with that for just a little bit longer I think.

I have also convinced myself they are going to headline Glasto next year. What an amazing spectacle that would be!

Cheers for the link.

Now then now then, what is this all about???

(ps don't let Turkish see this)

Errr hi Kelvin.

Arcade Fire have asked me to have a word with you and this is a kind of intervention. The band believe that your love for them has gone too far. The band are sorry that you can’t be together but they are just too different and they don't feel like it would work out. They don't want to resort to a Pete Doherty spit in the face but feel thing are heading in that direction. Reginé has noticed that some pants have gone missing and while no one is pointing the finger at you, they basically know that it is you. If you don't stop soon, they are going to write a 7:34 song about it. Please stop or at least slow down your love.

Listening to the album now (or at least the leaked copy of it that's circulating on the web, not sure if it's the 100% bona fide end product) and I have to say i'm enjoying it!

The Suburbs didn't jump out at me as anything particularly special on first listen, but there are some tracks here that really sparkle. Reflektor is a genius single and has been banging around in my head for weeks now. Here Comes The Night Time is great as well, and I love the different musical and cultural influences running through the album.

Will do more in-depth once i've had a couple more listens tomorrow!

I've spent a week or so listening to the new album. Musically, the direction can't really be a complete surprise to anyone who heard the Sprawl II. If Arcade Fire wants to do a dance album, Arcade Fire gets to do a dance album. Fair play to them - their eclectic stylings have got to be applauded. Genuinely get the impression that these guys have a lot of respect for all kinds of music. They could do a metal album and people would still recognise it as Arcade Fire.

It's a big leap from Funeral's French-Canadian stylings but it's still got all the Arcade Fire hallmarks. Male/female duets, dense sounds, lots of instruments (they're still rather fond of the guitar) and big climaxes. Need to listen to the last half a lot more, but impressions so far are very favourable.

Pretty spot on mate.

The second half is stronger, in my opinion. Oh Orpheus is the stand out track for me. But Porno and Afterlife are great too.

The new stuff sounds fantastic live, unsurprisingly.

Listening to The Suburbs again. Reflektor makes it a better album, and not because Reflektor is crap. The stroll through The Suburbs gets you there. Some exceptional tracks on that album. We Used To Wait, Ready To Start, Rococo and The Sprawl II are already lauded as Arcade Fire classics. I have a real soft spot for Modern Man and Wasted Hours; having the packaged bookended by the sighing title track is just the icing on the cake.

Couple of tracks I'm indifferent about, but it does make me chortle when people knock it.
