Saint Garrett Posted 5 August, 2010 Posted 5 August, 2010 Good news ! was coming as well IMO...Are we likely to see anymore action tonight? Connolly was announced and then we signed Richardson I think...or someone anyway !
Iowsaintsfan Posted 5 August, 2010 Posted 5 August, 2010 Good news thought it was only a matter of time
Suhari Posted 5 August, 2010 Posted 5 August, 2010 Really happy with this. A good keeper who could step in a do a job for us (as proved last season); and who will only get better. Still very young in GK terms. Great news. I reckon he will own the no. 1 shirt inside 3 seasons.

Good to see that things are still happening behind the scenes too.
latter day saint Posted 5 August, 2010 Posted 5 August, 2010 good.that's one of the boxes ticked off, lets hope for some more tomorrow. UTS!
corsacar saint Posted 5 August, 2010 Posted 5 August, 2010 Excellent news, this guy is a really good keeper.
Suhari Posted 5 August, 2010 Posted 5 August, 2010 Thinking back: he joined at 18 years old. And played a fair number of games in his first season - at a higher level than we are now. Surely he had interest from elsewhere? Makes the fact he has re-signed all the sweeter.
S-Clarke Posted 5 August, 2010 Posted 5 August, 2010 It's crazy that we have a keeper of his quality as a backup. brilliant news though, was getting a bit worried that we hadn't heard anything.
alpine_saint Posted 5 August, 2010 Posted 5 August, 2010 Relieved. Very relieved. Welcome back to the fold, Bart.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 5 August, 2010 Author Posted 5 August, 2010 I'd quite like to see him being used as our 'cup keeper' tbh, at least JPT and Carling cup.
St Landrew Posted 5 August, 2010 Posted 5 August, 2010 I've always said it, I like Bart, and I think he's a bloody good keeper. If Kelvin gets injured I never have any fears at all when Bart takes over.
SuperMikey Posted 5 August, 2010 Posted 5 August, 2010 Excellent news, very relieved that he's signed a new contract as I really don't have any faith in Forecast. Bart was excellent when he stepped in for KD.
Arizona Posted 5 August, 2010 Posted 5 August, 2010 Brilliant news. Best signing of the summer IMO. Seriously, Bart is top notch cover especially at this level. I wouldn't have any issues with him being a first choice 'keeper in the Championship, let alone a reserve in League 1. There isn't a League 1 club with as much quality in goal as Kelvin/Bart by a mile. Remember THAT penalty save in the shoot out against Norwich? Banks-esq.
Suhari Posted 5 August, 2010 Posted 5 August, 2010 I'd quite like to see him being used as our 'cup keeper' tbh' date=' at least JPT and Carling cup.[/quote'] Exactly this.
S-Clarke Posted 5 August, 2010 Posted 5 August, 2010 I'd quite like to see him being used as our 'cup keeper' tbh' date=' at least JPT and Carling cup.[/quote'] i'd imagine he's got some sort of clause in his contract making him first choice for cup games or similar - i couldn't see him signing for us without knowing if he'll ever play, i'm sure he's had some assurances that he'll get guaranteed game time.
niceandfriendly Posted 5 August, 2010 Posted 5 August, 2010 Would love to see him as our first choice for the 2011/12 season, hopefully in the Championship. I like KD a lot, but it'd be nice if Bart was ready to take over by then.
austsaint Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Not only a good keeper with the best part of his career in front of him, but judging by interviews a very genuine, down-to-earth fellow too.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Really pleased with this news. Bart has shown a lot of promise and in committing to us shows that he believes we are going about things in the correct manner. As Suhari said, I do expect him to take over from KD as our No 1 within a couple of seasons.
dronskisaint Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Happy to hear that...another position where we have quality cover
SaintRichmond Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 I think he will start next season as no 1. He should be in now IMHO Davis looks past his sell by date, if people are realistically honest
Chez Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 I wonder how bad his injury is that made him fail a medical. Not bad enough to stop us giving him a new deal obviously, but that appears to have worked in our favour. Very good news. I wonder where that leaves Forecast as we haev Pernicky coming through so do we really need Forescast as third string?
Northam Girls Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Brilliant news - wasn't looking forward to TF as back up to Kelvin would rather have kept Michael but can relax now - well done Bartman :-)
Ed Rooney Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Damn i was hoping he would be out of work, I needed a clown for my sons next birthday
beatlesaint Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Damn i was hoping he would be out of work, I needed a clown for my sons next birthday Oh well, you'll have to do it yourself then
skintsaint Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 hmm wonder if he had no choice to stay as he tried a few weeks ago to leave but failed a medical? glad he staying though as good backup.
wightman35 Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Best news of the week! Shame it was announced after my bedtime. Nothing personal from the OS I hope.
surrey1saint Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Excellent news.I hope Pards starts him for a good %age of games this season.
Bailey Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Great news. Was starting to get a little concerned that we'd be going into the season with Forecast as our 2nd choice 'keeper, so it's a relief to hear that Bialkowski has signed.
farawaysaint Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Bart is amazing, I'm so glad to have him. KD is great but Bart will be better IMO, hope he gets his chance this season.
Thedelldays Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 i'd imagine he's got some sort of clause in his contract making him first choice for cup games or similar - i couldn't see him signing for us without knowing if he'll ever play, i'm sure he's had some assurances that he'll get guaranteed game time. yeah...can see something like that...can only imagine that he was not sure whether to stay as he was not playing as much etc
The9 Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Now, is he going to get the number 24 shirt he was assigned for the Reading friendly, or something a little less obscure (Forecast is 23, somewhat bizarrely)? We don't have a #13, which he's worn before, but Callum McNish has nabbed his old #28 shirt.
Scummer Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Now, is he going to get the number 24 shirt he was assigned for the Reading friendly, or something a little less obscure (Forecast is 23, somewhat bizarrely)? We don't have a #13, which he's worn before, but Callum McNish has nabbed his old #28 shirt. He's number 24 according to the squad list on the OS.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Bart is amazing, I'm so glad to have him. KD is great but Bart will be better IMO, hope he gets his chance this season. I welcome Bart signing a new contract - but I can't go this far . Bart has the innate ability to be a first class goalkeeper for sure , and yes he may well become our number one in the fullness of time . But for now at least Kelvin Davis is at least as capable (I'd argue he's a tad better) and in my opinion he has a stronger sense of self confidence and is almost certainly the more reliable keeper of the pair . And that is why Kelvin is (and is likely to remain) our first choice keeper .
hamster Posted 8 August, 2010 Posted 8 August, 2010 Having a player of Bart's confidence and ability chomping at the bit is imho potentially the season saver. THE most important position on the pitch. Do the Bart-man.
