View From The Top Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 It's game of football, nowt else. We will either win, lose or draw.
Deano6 Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 It's game of football, nowt else. We will either win, lose or draw. But that's not good enough. We need to know NOW which one it'll be. And once we know we need to find out the reason why we didn't play as well as we should have, so we know who to boo and chant against when Saturday comes.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 I'm excited but not as optimistic as I'd like to be.
Block 5 Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 I can't wait for Saturday Tom. However I am growing weary of this forum.
Saint Garrett Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 It's game of football, nowt else. We will either win, lose or draw. If you care that little, why are you part of a forum and posted 4136 times ?!
RedAndWhite91 Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 Wellll considering I can't remember the last time we won on the opening day, and our track record on SKY, I should be pessimistic. But I'm not, I'm optimistic, and I can't ****ing wait.
itchen_dan Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 I'm excited but not as optimistic as I'd like to be. Feel the same. Just got a niggling issue at the back of my mind as to whether Pards is playing mind games by saying Lambert and all are "touch and go" or they seriously are injured and therefore am worried for the weekend and possibly the Bournemouth cup game which is one I don't want us to lose!
Smirking_Saint Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 Peter Reid was there at the Reading game, i would think it was pretty unlucky to lose our 4 best players. I am pretty hopefull that Lambert, Schneiderlin and Punch will be back.
Iowsaintsfan Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 I have a feeling it will be a draw, there will be mass doom and gloom on here but we will start to turn it on after that, I think we all have to remember whatever happens saturday its just one game and there is along way to go!
View From The Top Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 If you care that little, why are you part of a forum and posted 4136 times ?! I'll be there with my nipper as I am every week. I'll scream and shout and feel happy/cheesed off/narked at the final whistle and moan for a day but life goes on and by Sunday I'll be looking forward to the next match. Some people need to get a serious sense of perspective regarding where football ranks in their lives.

In terms of Lambert I have a feeling he's absolutely fine and Pards perhaps used this 'injury' as an excuse to try Barnard and Connolly out upfront together and give Rickie a rest. Also a bit of mind games for Plymouth ahead of Saturday.

Charlie Wayman Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 Plymouth know all about Third Divsion football and will be keen to start with a bang. Just like last season we are ill-prepared with players arriving too late to really gel with their team mates so expect over-enthusiasm to impress on their part, far too many loose passes as a result and not much cohesion in attack. Morgan will get booked in frustration as he contemplates another year of palying with averagely competent midfielders around him. We'll be vulnerable to set pieces again at the back especially from corners. We are so hyped up about our own abilities that we may not have prepared properly for Plymouth; if they come out fast at us we could be 2-0 down at halftime. This is likely to be our annual wake-up call in fact; if we draw 3-3 it would not surprise me but more likely we'll lose 2-1. Come Monday the Pardew out campaign could be in full swing on here

Dickson agreed to join in May/June, Butterflied and Richardson joined during the first week or so of pre-season.

RedAndWhite91 Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 Gordon Bennett, when are we going to put that myth to bed. Our record on Sky is no different to our record without TV. I know no figures, I guess it's just one of those myths that I've heard so often it has come across true. Charlie Wayman a drama Queen? I wouldn't say that. I'd say a clueless ****.
S-Clarke Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 I'm excited but not as optimistic as I'd like to be. Kind of feel the same too, i'm actually a bit apprehensive for the entire season. I really want us to do well and believe we have the tools to do so, but then so did leeds the past 3 seasons and they never looked convincing. They only just made it this year. I just can't wait for the opening few weeks to be done with so we can get a sense of the potential season. It's important to have a good start, but i don't think you can read too much until after 6 or so games - the table is a bit of a mish mash before then.
Dalek2003 Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 This will be the start of a long hard slog. Why did anyone think it would be easy ?
Norm Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 Tim, I'm looking forward to Saturday and wary about the opposition (being a Saints fan, I'm wary about every team we play, if you get my meaning). As for weary, no, only many of the posters on here make me weary.

SuperSAINT Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 Yeah, I was hoping to be 100% confident going into the season : A couple of months ago I had this great vision in my minds-eye of a full & proper pre-season (as opposed to last year) and a super-fit squad, with our 5-6 signings all bedded in. But we kind of go into it with 4 key players doubtful, and no great cover in for Morgan/Punch/Lallana. Still - I think we've got enough to see off the Pilgrims though.
trousers Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 I'm gonna miss the great threads we've had on here during the close season
Saints foreva Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 I can't wait for it but still think we will fail to win, especially if we start with no Lambert, Morgan and Puncheon.
Katalinic Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 I am feeling quite nervous....then I think of BWP going clean through one on one and it relaxes me somewhat.
ericofarabia Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 I am feeling quite nervous....then I think of BWP going clean through one on one and it relaxes me somewhat. Why don'cha just start the ËASY EASY EASY chant now How to jinx a result lessons 1 and 2
Katalinic Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 Why don'cha just start the ËASY EASY EASY chant now How to jinx a result lessons 1 and 2 Shall I not even mention Molyneux as a free kick expert either then??
ericofarabia Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 Hey, i'm pretty upbeat...yet have some real reservations after our underwhelming pre-season??? Thoughts.... Whoops...weary, should read 'wary'...sorry. I'm weary with effort trying to find out if the game is going to be shown here Since the very professionally run ShowTime stopped showing our mickey mouse league games and Al Jazeera took over it has been impossible to find out ant scheduling at all. At the moment the tv guide shows a 'Live' broadcast of a game that was played last week Could go down to the pub and make a few bets on the result i suppose!! The combination of Sky, opening game hoodoo, against one of the stronger teams with Reidy at the helm, and little n the way of pre season gelling in formations, line ups and tactics means I'd actually be releived at getting a draw to be honest. After that then we will be flying!!
Saint Billy Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 I am nervous about saturday mainly because saints often have this habit of not living up to expectations. Most pundits are classing us as favourites, that makes me nervous. I was hoping that a side was going to be put together that would undoubtably look all dominating with some exciting new signings. The signings we have made have been ok but not wet myself ok, and with the loss of Papa and Antonio we have lost some buzz and speed, perhaps this will be rectified shortly, but overall I am a little more nervous and cautious than I expected to be at the start of this season.
70's Mike Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 I am just nervous that i will not get there, going into QA hospital for day surgery tomorrow, then need 72 hours rest, early kick off does not help

Probably a penis extension so that you'll be top of the class in 'willy waving' rights at the end of the season

About time too! Behave in QA and hope all goes well, Mike.
alpine_saint Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 Hey, i'm pretty upbeat...yet have some real reservations after our underwhelming pre-season??? Thoughts.... Yep, I am wary too. As Dalek says, I see only a long, hard slog ahead of us.
Saint-scooby Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 We are always carp at the start of the season.
Deano6 Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 I also think we'll get relegated. FFS, at the end of last season I thought we'd be in with a shout of promotion, but what with this preseason and with us not buying midfielders that can be good replacements for the injured ones the only way is down. What I'd give to be a Pompey fan right now.

ericofarabia Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 It will be in full swing before most of us have left the ground! A dig at the cyber warriors on here who don't / can't attend games but know everything ? ..... don't include myself in that group ... 5 or 6 matchday Old Speckled Hens and innernetting on here, I'm lucky if I still remember the score
David Strover Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 When Reading went on their mental unbeaten run in The Championship a few years ago they lost their opening home game of the season 3-1 to.....Plymouth Argyle - so it might pay a few of the wrist cutters to remember that.
Junction 9 Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 The Super Saints will win 6-0!! Goalscorers will include Lallana, Richardson and James.
ericofarabia Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 Booo !!! to the mod who changed the title of the fred ... it was much better as it was was (not to mention less confusing to any late comers to the fred trying to figure out all the weary references!!)

Johnny Shearer Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 Nope, just wating for the fecking season to start without any dread! However come 4:50 I may be effing and swearing at the result!

You are always quite upbeat and less cynical than most, with a level head. if you are a litte bit afeared for the coming game, what chance the rest of us. I bet i'll find Alpine full of confidence. I think we'll be fine. Unlike most seasons we already have a team in place and raring to go. Please try and be a little bit more full of good cheer And COYS
