Gigersaint Posted 3 August, 2010 Share Posted 3 August, 2010 Is there a possibility that many shirts were sold on the morning of the Reading Friendly on Saturday? I got mine on Friday morning without any problem. If there is a shortage of shirts now it could also be that the club under forecast which would have an impact on manufacturing lead time, shipping although inconvenient to Club it could be reduced by using air instead of sea if they are from China to fulfil demand. But if manufacturers have to switch production due to under forecast it can take weeks for the buying company to recover. Could it be that the Club based their forecast on previous new shirt releases and got the forecast for this one completely wrong by under-estimating how popular it would prove to be? Gigersaint Posted 3 August, 2010 Share Posted 3 August, 2010 I think Umbro needs to move its production to a JIT model. Which would also need to be agreed in advance before in terms of contract with supplier with regards to production, if even an option in the first instance. Of that, who knows what is agreed between Clubs and Umbro, but agree with you that it would certainly help.
La BoIS Saint Posted 3 August, 2010 Share Posted 3 August, 2010 So Cortese ****s up yet again. Anyone but the arse licking NC lovers won't be surprised. I hear he has ****ed off Eastleigh by not sending a first team squad for the game despite it being part of the Aaron Martin contract. Has also broken another part of the contract that the Eastleigh contact won't disclose. No doubt afraid of the horse's head. The sooner NC is nowhere near this club the better. Swing Nic, swing Nicola. Swing him from the Itchen Bridge.

SaintBobby Posted 4 August, 2010 Share Posted 4 August, 2010 How many do you think the club should have ordered? And in which sizes? A few points here: 1. I understand it is a "complex" shirt, because of the sash. Am not totally clear on the production process, but in essence, the "printing presses" can run off 5,000 Stoke shirts, 3,000 Sunderland shirts, 2,000 Exeter shirts and, if you want to run off another 1500 (old) Saints shirts, they could add this to the end of the run. 2. The sash requires a separate run-off and callibration 3. Initial early sales were not great. If you pre-ordered the shirt - in any size - you got it. No problem. Sales then surged and an additional order has been placed....but Umbro arent about to stop running off Milan/Barca/Santos (or whatever)etc etc shirts for a League 1 team unless you are willing to pay a HUGE premium for them to do so. 4. The club should be restocked by early-mid September. And will not take a major revenue hit for being out of the stock for the first few weeks of the season, however annoying it may be for us fans. JustMike Posted 4 August, 2010 Share Posted 4 August, 2010 I was a waiting for a fred on this rather than start myself, since apparently I am always moaning. But what the hell, hey-ho... What cretinous baboon decided on order quantities for the new home kit shirt ? They really screwed that up, didnt they ? My mom tried to get me one 3 weeks ago and was told "6 weeks", now someone else on here tried this weekend and was also told "6 weeks" which in my book makes it 9 weeks. I reckon the reason the team hasnt played in it yet is because they havent got any to play in..... sorry Alps but i went to the westquay store 2 days ago, loads of them on sale

I am very happy with it in every way. Just saying. Hmmm. That's odd. There is an article about this on the OS, and I called the Megastore myself. Admittedly neither the article refers nor did I refer in my phone call to fat bastards.
charlie saint Posted 4 August, 2010 Share Posted 4 August, 2010 My wife (who bought the shirt for me) says that when she rang on Monday this week to 'chase the order', she was indeed told that it would be 6 weeks - until she explained that she'd already ordered etc. Presumably the person she spoke to was on auto-pilot. Mind you, the online store said 'sold out except for 6xl' as early as 2 weeks ago. If it's any consolation, I'd say it was probably worth waiting for (but then, I didn't have to wait, particularly). Maybe they were getting confused with STsales, would have thought that's an extremely large number of shirts for most clubs, particularly a third tier one...and around half a £million in the coffers! FAR OUT... Seems there IS a real feel good feeling about the club - plus the 125th year. Perhaps this just was an unexpected demand for these... or is that too non-controversial enough for this forum

Rogerfryisalegend Posted 4 August, 2010 Share Posted 4 August, 2010 I like this, all we have to worry about is running out of shirts after selling (apparently) 13k while Pompey’s lawyers have just told the court if they lose the case that liquidation is a guaranteed outcome. As you say though agreeing this in advance would have helped but then at what level of shirts sold would Umbro start producing another run? I guess that was the crux of the problem. Erm, I clearly stated I want one and always get one in September. For a club with 45,000 active supporters (JPT final) and tens of thousands more, surely a regular supply - rather than a job lot of 10-13k would be more sensible. I am whinging because I really really really want this shirt and was PREPARED TO WAIT till September so that my family wouldn't be upset that they couldn't get me my traditional birthday present. oh, I should add, FFS. LVSaint Posted 4 August, 2010 Share Posted 4 August, 2010 Can anyone tell me if the new shirt fits about the same as last season's Umbro?
