Give it to Ron Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Adults - £10 Concessions - £6 Under 16s - £6 Under 12s - £4 KO 7.45 I don't think we will see too many first team squad risked.
oxfordshire_saint Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 No word of the squad on the OS preview, any guesses? GK - Bart RB - ? CB - Martin CB - Tafazoli LB - Reeves RM - Oxlade-Chamberlain CM - McNish CM - Pulis LM - Holmes CF - Doble CF - ?

CB - Martin CB - Tafazoli LB - Reeves RM - Oxlade-Chamberlain CM - McNish CM - Pulis LM - Holmes CF - Doble CF - ? Feel that it would be stronger than that tbh, Pardew needs to get his XI sorted ready for Saturday I reckon it might be: GK - Davis RB - Butterfield CB - Martin CB - Fonte LB - Dickson RM - Mills CM - Wotton CM - Hammond LM - Holmes ST - Barnard ST - Connolly
St.Patrik Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 I think at least 2 players on trial going to play tonight. Just a guess tho...
daveygwyatt Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 http://www.radio-spitfire.talktalk.net/ radio coverage if your not going
S-Clarke Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Saints team Vs Eastleigh: Bialkowski. Saville, Reeves, Pulis, Martin, Tafazolli, Chamberlain, Robinson, Doble, Hoskins, Isgrove. just a saints XI then
trousers Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 officialsaints: Saints team Vs Eastleigh: Bialkowski. Saville, Reeves, Pulis, Martin, Tafazolli, Chamberlain, Robinson, Doble, Hoskins, Isgrove. #saintsfc
Give it to Ron Posted 2 August, 2010 Author Posted 2 August, 2010 Trousers beat me to it ....glad I couldnt go in the end...£16 for me and the nipper is a bit pricey to watch that line up when I can see that at Staplewood for free soon.
The Godfather Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Well with the several injuries to our best players it was never going to be a strong side with the first league game on Saturday.
Sour Mash Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Pulis must have played more pre-season minutes than most of the supposed first choice? In fact he's probably played more this pre-season than his whole Saints career.
Matthew Le God Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Is Pulis playing in defence tonight? Saville, A. Martin, Tafazolli and Reeves are all defenders
SO16_Saint Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 TBF if AP thinks Pulis is good enough, it's fine by me
alpine_saint Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Saints team Vs Eastleigh: Bialkowski. Saville, Reeves, Pulis, Martin, Tafazolli, Chamberlain, Robinson, Doble, Hoskins, Isgrove. just a saints XI then Mental. Totally f**king mental.
alpine_saint Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Pulis must have played more pre-season minutes than most of the supposed first choice? In fact he's probably played more this pre-season than his whole Saints career. As I said, mental....
hypochondriac Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Mental. Totally f**king mental. What happened to "It's not for me to comment, we should leave it to the manager to decide?"
saint_stevo Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 4days to recover before our first league game it is hardly surprising it's a reserve XI
S-Clarke Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Not you, mate. That team. that's what i thought, but i'm not sure what else we expected tbh. You couldn't expect the likes of barnard/fonte/jaidi/harding/dickson etc to play again, just 2 days after their last match, in the buildup to the first game of the season. and it's also sensible not risking the likes of lambo/morgan and co. Always had a feeling this would be a saints XI game.

alpine_saint Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 So, we've had a pre-season where half the first XI have barely featured, if at all. Genius. Inspired strategy. So much for the well-oiled machine in the groove. This friendly is completely meaningless.
Saint Charlie Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 You're wrong mate. It's f*cking mental. Anyone who expected the full team is mental. Its a chance for fringe players, Martin, OC etc to prove they are good enough.

So much for the well-oiled machine in the groove. This friendly is completely meaningless. FFS the players who havent't played are injured. No team will play an injured player. It would be pointless for players who featured against Reading to play again, they have had the minutes and were much better served by playing Reading than Eastleigh. Talk about finding fault with absolutely anything....
alpine_saint Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Anyone who expected the full team is mental. Its a chance for fringe players, Martin, OC etc to prove they are good enough. They've had that all pre-season thanks to the bizarre strategy the management have employed, whereby you dont actually field the team that consists of your first XI if you can avoid it.

alpine_saint Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 you'd be the first one to start a reactionary thread if one of our first team were injured in this game tbf alps. No, in fairness I would be p*ssed off, but I wouldnt seek to blame anyone.
hypochondriac Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Anyone who expected the full team is mental. Its a chance for fringe players, Martin, OC etc to prove they are good enough. I was of course joking...
saint_stevo Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 As long as they are fit enough (switzerland) then they were already good enough so don't see the problem really? Losing games isn't ideal obviously, nor is failing to be teams like Sutton Utd, but i would rather that than having ouf best players injured

Spudders Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 You're right. I think the whole pre-season has been utter w*nk. Look on the bright side, at least we have had a pre-season this year!
Colinjb Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Sometimes the reactions of some posters on here are hillarious! And 1-0, excellent. Keep it up lads.
St.Patrik Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Its part of the payment for the defender we got from them last summer. Says so on OS so we have to play them. Look for info before starting to complain please. So, we've had a pre-season where half the first XI have barely featured, if at all. Genius. Inspired strategy. Saint Charlie Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Anyone know what type of striker Hoskins is?

Alpine do you not realise that every team in every season has pre season games for the 1st team, reserve teams, youth teams and combinations of the three? No team in England has pre-seasons where the 1st XI plays in every friendly. Tonight's game against Eastleigh is an under 21 development squad friendly. Should these players not have any games in pre season? Edited 2 August, 2010 by Matthew Le God

Should these players not have any games in pre season? Of course they should. I dont see that excludes the possibility of trying the team you actually intend to fight this campaign with when given the chance, though...
