stevegrant Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 If you've not already seen it and joined up, the SaintsWeb Prediction League will be running again this season. The idea is simple, predict the score for every Saints game and gain points depending on how accurate your predictions are. You get 10 points for each perfect prediction (i.e. the score and the result), or 5 if you get the right result (e.g. win, lose or draw) but not the right score. If you've not got the full 10 points, you can also get a bonus point for correctly predicting either team's score. Examples: Saints v Southend last season, finished 3-1 to Saints. User 1 predicts 3-1 Saints win - scores 10 points User 2 predicts 3-0 Saints win - scores 6 points, 5 for the correct result, 1 for predicting Saints scoring 3 User 3 predicts 2-0 Saints win - scores 5 points User 4 predicts 1-1 draw - scores 1 point for predicting Southend scoring 1 User 5 predicts 2-0 Southend win - scores 0 points You can find the Prediction League by clicking the menu option at the top of the page (next to the highlighted "Forum" option), then go to "My Predictions" to start entering your scores. You can amend your predictions right up until kickoff in each game. When predicting, the Saints score is always first!
Big Bad Bob Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 out of 126 predictions (so far) for the Plymouth game there is only 1 person predicting a defeat. Brill
Saint_clark Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 out of 126 predictions (so far) for the Plymouth game there is only 1 person predicting a defeat. Brill Hmm I wonder...
Smirking_Saint Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 (edited) And if you like that sorta stuff, i have created a Saints web metro league Prem football though. http://fantasyfootball.metro.co.uk/ League is Saints Web League Edited 2 August, 2010 by Smirking_Saint
saint_stevo Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Is the saints score always first? Or doed it depend on home or away?
stevegrant Posted 2 August, 2010 Author Posted 2 August, 2010 Is the saints score always first? Or doed it depend on home or away? Saints score is always first. Important to note for cup games that may go to extra time and/or penalties, the score is the score at the end of playing time, either 90 minutes or 120 minutes where applicable. For example, the Norwich and Torquay JPT games last season would go down as 2-2, not any sort of Saints win.
scott_saints Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Saints score is always first. . I think you should put that on the main prediction page. I automatically assumed it was home team first anyway...
saint_stevo Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 I think you should put that on the main prediction page. I automatically assumed it was home team first anyway... I agree, it definitely isnt plain. Hence my question. Steve, maybe worth putting it at the top of the prediction page...?
EBS1980 Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 And if you like that sorta stuff, i have created a Saints web metro league Prem football though. http://fantasyfootball.metro.co.uk/ League is Saints Web League Whats the mini league name and pin?
stevegrant Posted 2 August, 2010 Author Posted 2 August, 2010 I agree, it definitely isnt plain. Hence my question. Steve, maybe worth putting it at the top of the prediction page...? it is - the big heading on the "My Predictions" page says "My Predictions - Saints Score First"... will emphasise it again though.
Smirking_Saint Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Taking it statistically. 3 of the S_S' missed that point, i would say that is a large proportion of the S_S' on this forum and as such shows an accurate representation for the rest of the posters. Maybe
saint_stevo Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 Scott is dumb, but not as dumb as you Oh and we are not alone- http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?23588-Prediction-League

saint_stevo Posted 2 August, 2010 Posted 2 August, 2010 i think that "Saints score first bit" must be new.....ish?
Doctoroncall Posted 3 August, 2010 Posted 3 August, 2010 Saints score is always first. Steve, I tried to save the JPT score but it doesn't show it has like the league fixtures (well the first two).
dubai_phil Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Phew, that was awfully hard work after last night, even at this late hour of the day. Still, I'm in and up and running with the sole aim of whipping EoA's backside this season
Tractor_Saint Posted 6 August, 2010 Posted 6 August, 2010 Quick - check it out - .comsaint is top of the league
ericofarabia Posted 7 August, 2010 Posted 7 August, 2010 Steve ... got delayed at work and its too late to enter my score .... can this count please 2-1 to the saints.
ericofarabia Posted 7 August, 2010 Posted 7 August, 2010 Didn't realise it was a 1215 ko thought it was 1245 ... missed the first 20 mins and didn't even know the team line up let alone the latest score when I posted earlier /...... I'll still take the 1 point if its ok !!
Leicestersaint Posted 7 August, 2010 Posted 7 August, 2010 out of 126 predictions (so far) for the Plymouth game there is only 1 person predicting a defeat. Brill Which alas shows what the rest of us know!
Ashby Saint Posted 11 August, 2010 Posted 11 August, 2010 Some friendly advice for those updating their initial predictions as I think I've found a bug in the software (or should I say feature to quote some software developers I know). I originally had the Bournemouth game down as a 1:1 draw but updated my score on Monday night to 2:1. However, I didn't notice that when you "Save" your revised score it actually resets to 0:0. You actually have to enter the score again and Save it again before the system records it properly. As a result I was listed as not having submitted a score for the Bournemouth match. No matter but I thought I would pass it on.

syd_barrett_saint Posted 11 August, 2010 Posted 11 August, 2010 Also, I predicted 2-1 Saints vs Bournemouth, and only got given 5 points. Shouldn't that be 6, with the extra point for correctly guessing the number of goals Saints scored?
Doctoroncall Posted 12 August, 2010 Posted 12 August, 2010 Also, I predicted 2-1 Saints vs Bournemouth, and only got given 5 points. Shouldn't that be 6, with the extra point for correctly guessing the number of goals Saints scored? Ditto for me... the first time I was wishing Kelvin would let a goal in!
saint lard Posted 12 August, 2010 Posted 12 August, 2010 Also, I predicted 2-1 Saints vs Bournemouth, and only got given 5 points. Shouldn't that be 6, with the extra point for correctly guessing the number of goals Saints scored? Same for me also.
ottery st mary Posted 22 August, 2010 Posted 22 August, 2010 All my predictions are spot on.......But the team are not actually responding to my directions..
St.Jeweller Posted 22 August, 2010 Posted 22 August, 2010 Hee-Hee...Forgot to predict yesterdays game and just noticed i've moved up to 25th
VectisSaint Posted 22 August, 2010 Posted 22 August, 2010 Same for me, changed my initial Bournemouth prediction (I think to 2-1) and as a result my prediction was lost altogether, so here I am bottom of the table with nil points, with a game in hand :-( Still, its early days, 40+ games to go, no need to panic, everything is hunky dory in AP we trust (oh, forgot this is the Prediction League not League One).
RonManager Posted 22 August, 2010 Posted 22 August, 2010 Wouldn't save my prediction yesterday on my phone . (4-0 ) I made it at about 1pm, is there a cut-off time?
Sour Mash Posted 23 August, 2010 Posted 23 August, 2010 Tried doing this at the start of the season, would save some of the predictions and not others so gave up.
tizz Posted 24 August, 2010 Posted 24 August, 2010 any one else having trouble saving the Bolton prediction for tonight ?
Hatch Posted 24 August, 2010 Posted 24 August, 2010 I probably have about a 1 in 10 success rate in saving my predictions. Something is clearly not working properly
woodfc Posted 25 August, 2010 Posted 25 August, 2010 any one else having trouble saving the Bolton prediction for tonight ? Managed to save the other predictions but could i save Bolton? No chance!
Smirking_Saint Posted 25 August, 2010 Posted 25 August, 2010 EASY EASY That goes with the saints web premier league fantasy football thing too. I probably have about a 1 in 10 success rate in saving my predictions. Something is clearly not working properly When you save it it the score needs to be above the drop down boxes (it makes sense to me) you use to select the score ? If that doesn't make sense i will do a piccy for you.
woodfc Posted 25 August, 2010 Posted 25 August, 2010 Apologize, could have sworn it didnt save but it did. Level 5th ..... early doors though!
Minsk Posted 26 August, 2010 Posted 26 August, 2010 I probably have about a 1 in 10 success rate in saving my predictions. Something is clearly not working properly And I thought I was the only one having this problem. Grrrrrrrr............
dubai_phil Posted 26 August, 2010 Posted 26 August, 2010 I probably have about a 1 in 10 success rate in saving my predictions. Something is clearly not working properly The computer is working properly. It just falls over laughing at what you've typed in
Charlie Wayman Posted 27 August, 2010 Posted 27 August, 2010 What is the difference between a prediction and a lucky guess? Can you make a WRONG prediction? We need to do some work on semantics.
Lets B Avenue Posted 27 August, 2010 Posted 27 August, 2010 I have been trying to get my "guess" saved for the last 30 mins. Is the problem due to the fact that I didnt do one for the Bolton game. 3-1 Saints tomorrow FTR.
