I guess this means we'll have a new pitch announcer this season, as the last one will have been sacked when Cortese was shown this thread.

For how long? You love the attention, whether it's Saints or Hampshire......

A bit like FF's "I'll never post a rumour again" thread.

EDIT - actually, I don't think he said that exactly; I think he said he'd never post again.

I imagine he wears a cravat.

If he turned off his PM it's nothing to do with me!

I just find the public announcement of that fact laughably portentous.

How are we going to know it's not OK to invade the pitch at the end of the season without him?

In fairness that wasn't the pitch announcer, that was some dickhead up in the Security centre.

He made the guy on the pitch sound like a pro !!

I totally agree with you Weston does post reasonable information as compared to people who try to be clever and take the ****

He would have found it very difficult to sack Pardew after all of the support that he got at the end of the season. It obvioulsy got his back up as he had a pop at a few Saints Treasures. Time will tell.....

You got it in a nutshell, Bern, it was the pressure of the fans that finally persuaded NC to back off - for now!

Pretty much how stevegrant told it to me at the rosebowl a few months ago, and he had a very good source

Fine then ignore it. You won't be satisfied unless the pitch announcer spoke to you in person (and even then you probably wouldn't believe it) so don't bother to comment. FWIW I have known about this for months because a separate source told me about it and Duncan confirmed it a few weeks back.

Hypo, are you some kind of 'rumour' groupie. Picking up on what someone else has touched on, are you happy, that you may be responsible for someone loseing their job, all because of your tittle tattle. If you in fact have a 'source' I hope you are prepared to give him/her up, because if I was the pitch announcer, and lost my job because of your 'rumour', I'd demand you divulged said source in court.

Do you honestly think if Morgan, Rickie, Lallana and Puncheon had been fit Saturday he wouldnt have played them ?

He went to some event and ended up talking with Wally Downes.

And how would Wally Downes know that Cortese was going to sack NP but backed off because of fan pressure? Does anyone seriously think NC had a quiet word in his ear "psst dont tell anyone, but Im going to sack your boss, you know the man who appointed you - unless of course the fans kick up" .

Well that's of course how it would have happened. There's no way that the coaching staff would have the nous to know if the manager was living on borrowed time. None.

Or they feed disinformation to FF knowing he is a blabbermouth with an agenda and will post it up.

That may well be the opinion of some but I, and others, give credence to what Duncan says. Yes he has been caught out, as he has admitted, but that experience has honed his take on things and I feel he is circumspect in what he says. If Duncan is a blabbermouth how well do some others of us compare? Not very well I'd bet.

You must be joking - the football in L1 is dreadful compared to the championship. I'm looking forward to the CCC simply because games are evenly matched, the ball stays in play longer and teams will stretch you with pace. Ipswich who are no means the best team in the CCC showed the gulf in quality in the cup game. L1 is slow, scrappy and bogged down in the middle by comparison.

Remind me of the result of the Ipswich game?!

Or just possibly AP was under pressure from Cortese to deliver on the objectives AP had agreed, but failed to achieve and it was AP who told Wally he thought his job might be at risk - you know like most people in the country who dont deliver on their annual objectives and all these rumours is just more ****ing in the wind.

I don't buy it, if he relented under fan pressure why the no u-turn over the payment plan and more to the point how are things going to change by christmas? Saints lying 2nd, 2 points behind Sheff Wed and 8 points in front of Huddersfield and NC sacks AP,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you sure!!!!!

......... a full time doctor not a part time one..

Just out of interest, does anyone have an idea who the doctor was on Saturday who came on when Doyle??? had his head injury?

Indeed AP might well have said something to Wally. Or Wally might have just been able to read the situation.

A bit different to the assertion that unless Cortese said something himself it was never on the cards, no?

Incidently I'd have had no problem if NC had binned Pardew.

Yes but thats a totally different scenario and slant to the OP.

Agreed. P:ss taking and banter deserves no place in football talk.

I do enjoy the way people take the fact that somebody works at the club to mean they are a reliable source of information.

I'm about halfway up the chain of command at my workplace, which itself is not a big business, and I know nothing about personel decisions or anything like that.

All you are getting passed on to you is office gossip.

Agree Barry the :badger:, people are getting fed rumours from people within SFC!

There will be a rumour mill within SFC where the same rumour will get spread around, so FF hearing from A and Alan Partridge hearing from B just coroborates the rumour within SFC.

IT DOESN'T NECESSARILY MAKE IT TRUE, unless we've suddenly started living in a Terry Pratchett universe and rumours take on more power the more people believe in them!!

AP may have been worried about his job, he may have said as much to a confidente, this may have then spread to others that NC is going to sack AP!

Personell things I take verything with a pinch of salt because it is a rumour! Player comings and goings I base on the player!

there is nothing like a historian scorned..........only kidding Duncan.

I don't see why NC would be thinking of sacking the manager now, when patently it would have been best to do so preseason to let the new man settle in.

I have no doubts that if we are not in the position to go up by Xmas AP will be gone.I suspect the majority of fans would feel this then anyway.

I think you might find it's neither option. Apparently his agent was on Italian TV saying that they've had a few enquiries but he want's to stay at the Viola (Papa that is, not his agent!!)

Markus won't walk out on his investment and p!ss money down the drain just because Cortese goes. He will simply employ another new CEO. Liebherr is here for the money, not for sh!ts and giggles.

I have put myself back down to a Registered User because the amount of people jumping on everything I say, I couldn't be bothered to spend my life replying to them.

People can certainly put their head in the sand if they want. I believe this chap Patred is very well connected in the professional game, so choose to believe what he says or not, he was just passing on information he had received. There are far too many of you that will just blindly defend Cortese because you feel you owe him your life for 'saving' SFC, or you are scared Liebherr will go if Cortese throws his toys out the pram.

Add up the amount of 'rumours' that have come from different posters on here about things not going right, staff unhappy ( and in some cases intimidated ) by Cortese, charges all over the show, and now apparantly he thinks he is better than all the other football league chairman and there is a very worrying picture about internal goings on at SFC. The funny thing is, so many of you say you are not interested in the politics of the club, yet you spend half your life talking about it!

And for the people who are congratulating Cortese for kicking off at all the other Football League chairmen... yeah, well done NC... why not wind up the very people that you have to do business with on an almost daily basis. Congratulations indeed. Professionalism is a word that NC would do very well to learn the meaning of, because he shows absolutely none. :uhoh:
