I believe this chap Patred is very well connected in the professional game, so choose to believe what he says or not, he was just passing on information he had received. There are far too many of you that will just blindly defend Cortese because you feel you owe him your life for 'saving' SFC, or you are scared Liebherr will go if Cortese throws his toys out the pram.

 

Add up the amount of 'rumours' that have come from different posters on here about things not going right, staff unhappy ( and in some cases intimidated ) by Cortese, charges all over the show, and now apparantly he thinks he is better than all the other football league chairman and there is a very worrying picture about internal goings on at SFC. The funny thing is, so many of you say you are not interested in the politics of the club, yet you spend half your life talking about it!

 

And for the people who are congratulating Cortese for kicking off at all the other Football League chairmen... yeah, well done NC... why not wind up the very people that you have to do business with on an almost daily basis. Congratulations indeed. Professionalism is a word that NC would do very well to learn the meaning of, because he shows absolutely none.

Its simple folks dont like chnage, and they dont like things that they are unfamiliar with... I am very supportive of the new regime because it set out a clear ambitious plan for the next 4 years (5 year plan). It has seen us move from poor starting form to real contenders and but for a few sub par games that all clubs suffer, we would have made the playoffs last season. So judgement from my perspective will come in 4 years... thats only fair.

 

Of course there will be things done that some fans dont agree with, and I can appreciate that its made worse when no clear explanation is offered, meaning the reliance on rumour and speculation. A case in pint is the ST installment plan.. the reasons for its withdrawal should be clear to everyone and have been debated, but the fact that the clud did not communicate them clearly was an error or judgement. BUt rather than ranting and raving and calling NC all sorts of names, surely, it just needs a calm and rational question to NC when the chance arrises at the APPROPRIATE time... not a mass of negativity and abuse - who is going to take that seriously? Certainly not NC. He isused to dealing with professionals in business. So yes its valid that he may be on a learning curve in dealing with the fanatism of supporters whose demands are beyond what is often reasonable on his time etc... but that does not make him evil. IT makes him a busy man who himself is under pressure to deliver in a very difficult business environment. Yet we as always ignore the positives that come with this, and jump on the first negative rumour or in our opinion 'mistake' and try and be all agreesive and negative about it.... perpetuated by a few who seem to have their own agenda/ego/arrogance to suggest its their right to get a response and quick reaction...

 

Fans always want some utopian ideal - the old fashioned principles of club ownership and community, AND one that is highly competitive, upwardly mobile and has resources to invest for success... the two are mutally exclusive in this era... and thats not NCs fault, its the grim reality. THe club has to be run with a hard edge IMHO. Some will say its about trying to balance the two... sorry but i am not sure thats possible... Wilde, Crouch and even Lowe in some respects failed as a result because it ends up without a clear strategy - you have to chose one path and accept the negatives that come with it. such is the football world.

Everything you refer to is rumour and innuendo. There isn't a piece of hard, tangible evidence in any of this. Just because you say it, it doesn't make it so. Just because you wish it, it doesn't make it so.

A quick search of the tabloids and local papers today still shows NOTHING. An exclusive story like this and it is so ground breaking THEY DON'T DEEM TO REPORT IT.

Why on the football league own website, they choose not to report it as they are reporting more bigger hitting and biting stories that have more impact that Cortese’s attack on them, such as:

I don't think think you're right about that. There were two sets of ITK's - the ITK's that were/are fans and the ITK's with no love of SFC that posted purely for the benefit of their agenda. There was also Lifelongcherry who deserves a category all of his own.

 

The only ITK's left posting are those who support SFC and I can't for a minute believe they fit the criteria you describe. I have an idea who you're having a dig at, but i'm sure they still have aquaintances that work for the club so will hear snippets.

I think NC has done a brilliant job since he came to the club. Theres a real professionalism across the club. no bickering between the board like in previous years

Hes a confident and decisive leader. I suspect he is very much keeping his cards close to his chest unlike previous custodians of the club who seemed to blab to whoever would listen and carry forward their particular agenda to the fans.

My belief is that some fellow posters on here do not like the fact he keeps his own counsel to those he can trust. Thats the sign of a good leader. No good having a general in charge of the troops if he is going to tell his enemies what his plans are.

 

I also like Alan Pardew. yes we should have some more exciting football but then if the opposition go out of their way to stifle our type of play it can become very ugly AP makes that very point on the BBC interview re orient.

Last year we were within hours of ceasing to exsist, now here we are, willing to bite the hand that saved us. I don't agree with AP's removal - if it was going to be done it should have happened in the summer. NC had the axe poised but bottled it. AP knew he was a dead man walking, the players knew it too. This whole thing was just waiting to happen as I told you on August 1st.

 

A simple point: if Cortese has in fact already decided that he is going to sack Pardew by Xmas, regardless of the team's results and position ... then he is an unmitigated and totally clueless, idiot. Which, without knowing anything about him beyond what is publicly known of his career so far, I just do not believe he is.

 

Why do I say this? Because if Cortese really wants Pardew out and has decided to sack him, Pardew would be out and sacked now! A new manager would be in place, making the player decisions (both signing and releasing), preparing the team for the new season. To let Pardew shape the squad, prepare the squad, manage the first (and very important) part of the season when you don't believe in him and have decided to sack him would be more than foolishness or idiocy: it would be downright lunacy!

IMO it's for the best Duncan. I've never hidden the fact that I felt that Pardew was over rated. I didn't like the way we played, despite the fact that this strong squad was always capable of getting results. I have always felt that he was inhibited, safety first, and didn't get the best out of the team. I think Cortese is on the right track and is focussed on where we are going. I think recent happenings hastened Pardew's departure. I think it was more to do with style and players plus compatibility than results.
