supersonic Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Thats right. Man U had to play their CM'S at Cb for a period last season. Every club gets them, its how you deal with it. Didnt Everton play with Cahill upfront on his own for a time last season when they had no strikers? And a few years ago Blackburn had no strikers they had 2 play samba up front
Yorkshire Saint Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Dickson Freekick Hammond header 2-1 Saints 10000 + in ground ! ps cherries 4-0 up
wheels Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Whats wrong 2 1 at the moment http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~2107391,00.html Amazing how their OS has updated match report yet ours (the brand new, apparently brilliant site where 70% of fans get their info from) still shows the score as 1-0 Reading
SuperMikey Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Sounding very promising with a half-strength squad! COYS!
wheels Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Dickson Freekick Hammond header 2-1 Saints 10000 + in ground ! ps cherries 4-0 up Against Dorchester Town

Colinjb Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Reading that feed it sounds as though Dickson is playing in a more forward role. The predictions of a Dickson/Harding left hand side are coming true.
John B Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Amazing how their OS has updated match report yet ours (the brand new, apparently brilliant site where 70% of fans get their info from) still shows the score as 1-0 Reading  Our club wants us to pay I think to keep up to date with scores. It all changed last season
wheels Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Perhaps we should bookmark the Reading site for the new season..? Or whoever we're playing against's (is that a word??) site
saint J Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Antonio warming up, Could be dodgy! we've got to try and sign him.
St Landrew Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Or whoever we're playing against's (is that a word??) site That's the idea.
S-Clarke Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Good update on Solent. We deserve the lead and should have just scored a third - a good run and cross by dickson (who has been outstanding) and the shot by Connolly is stopped at point blank range by their keeper. Doble for Connolly also
John B Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Sounding very promising with a half-strength squad! COYS! It is not a half strength squad I would have thought but the Squad minus a few players
saintscottofthenortham Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Sounds good. My mate just txt me from SMS saying we are looking very good. Against a strong Reading team that cant be bad...
saint J Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Doble on for Connolly Who's Doble? never heard of him!
Saint Garrett Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Pen for Reading...2-2 Harding challenge, 'harsh'
Yorkshire Saint Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 2-2 Penalty Reading after Dan Harding pulled J Tabb down
Saint-Reece Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 according to the echo feed saints fans chanting "sign him up" at Antonio, hopefully something can be arranged post-match
SuperMikey Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 It is not a half strength squad I would have thought but the Squad minus a few players Really? No Lambert, Puncheon, Lallana, Schneiderlin or Richardson. The defence and strikers look okay, but midfield...
VectisSaint Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 It is not a half strength squad I would have thought but the Squad minus a few players Think if you take out 7 first teamers its fair to say half-strength: Richardson, Seaborne, Lambert, Lallana, Schneiderlin, Puncheon and Holmes all missing today. Shows that we have strength in depth in most areas though that we can still field a decent side, only area where we don't have depth is up front as Ryan Doble seems to be No4 striker at the moment (unless you consider Lallana a striker). MF is strong with Pulis on the bench (as long as thats where he stays).
St Landrew Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 You just know Antonio will score - won't he? I still find it slightly hard to believe that we haven't tried to secure his transfer. I mean, surely he made enough friends down here to want to come back, and he also would have a better chance of 1st team status. Or perhaps he thinks he's nearer the front at Reading..? Many variables, I'm sure [championship club, etc...], but it would be nice to know.

St Landrew Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 We may well have tried to secure his transfer but perhaps Reading think he is a good player and want to keep him. I was thinking along the lines of player power, as in... Thanks Reading FC, but I'd rather go back to Saints. Please can you make it possible..? And then we pay/compensate Reading, as he is a youngster.
Smirking_Saint Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Boll*cks, looks like i am getting the round in when i see the reading boys. Did he celebrate ?
The Kraken Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 I was thinking along the lines of player power, as in... Thanks Reading FC, but I'd rather go back to Saints. Please can you make it possible..? And then we pay/compensate Reading, as he is a youngster. Why would he agitate for a move to a lower league club? Especially if he has the confidence in himself that he'll break through into the first team. Much better on a personal level to do that in the Championship than in League One.
S-Clarke Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 this is terrible not really, it's a bunch of academy players out there now which is why we've conceded a couple more unfortunately.
Gorgiesaint Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Typical - although he wasn't the only ex-Saint on the scoresheet today. See Surman got Norwich's 2nd against Everton & Leon Best scored for Newcastle against PSV Eindhoven.
saint_bert Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 this is terrible Be carefull, I think your in danger of over reacting
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 not really, it's a bunch of academy players out there now which is why we've conceded a couple more unfortunately. Spot on. Reading were one of the form teams in the last few months of last season so they are a strong out fit. I am sure with best players back to fitness with a couple of additions to squad we will be fine. I am curious to know what is happening with seabourne. something not right there. Injury prehaps?

Especially if he has the confidence in himself that he'll break through into the first team. Much better on a personal level to do that in the Championship than in League One. You're probably right. As I said, there are many variables as to why we haven't secured his transfer. I'd just like to know exactly why not, because his ability to make the difference, or score when required, was one of the key elements of last season.
