fareham saint phil Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 wonder how many of this team will start next week, should be a new midfield bar hammond. 4 blond tops in the squad worse than gingers!!!
Master Bates Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Nothing to worry about. Me: Hi God: Hello. What is your name? Me: Bates God: I'm pleased to introduce myself to you, Bates. Me: Is Lambert leaving Southampton? God: Better not tell you now. Ask Lucy if it is. Me: Ok, thanks God: Yay. http://www.titane.ca/igod/main.html
VectisSaint Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 to be fair apart from defence the whole team looks weak Can't believe some people, we have Connolly and Barnard up front, two of the best strikers in this division. We also probably have best GK in this division, I would accept that MF does not look great on paper today, bu the 4 starters are all decent players, perhaps just not all together.
Master Bates Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 You spoke to Matty? Well I thought if anyone'd know it be him.
VectisSaint Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 You spoke to Matty? No, he spoke to Ted. Its in the name.
SuperMikey Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Me: good afternoon god God: How are you today? GOD rules. Me: i'm okay, slightly worried about the plight of Richard of Lambert though God: Oh. Good gossip: you are okay slightly worried about the plight of Richard of Lambert. Me: yes, i am God: Really interesting. Me: is rickie leaving? God: Signs point to yes. Ask Artificial Iniaes if it is. Me: OH F*CK God: Awesome. Please don't be so rude. Me: go agnostics God: Where is that? Me: a dan brown book God: Are you talking about an animal, vegetable or mineral? Me: i'm talking about a made-up set of beliefs to ensure that the people of the world don't go nuts God: Yes, it is the topic. Me: glad you agree God: You make the world a happier place.
Saint Garrett Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Wonder how Vassell and Benjani will get on together...lets hope they can click from the off.

Master Bates Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Nothing's happening I take it then..... Nope, playing like a bunch of soccer players.
yorkie Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 According to Echo Twitter 9-mins ago it was fairly even with half chances for both sides!
Saint Garrett Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Sigardsson, beat fonte then curled it in, nice goal apparently.
Upton72 Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Well me and the Missus are going. Nephew might be going too. Hoping for an entertaining match and one where we will look equal to Reading TBH. However I suspect Rasiak and Antonio will do us - it's the law. According to Harry Pearson, (journalist & writer of many funny football books), the first immutable law of football is that players always score against their old clubs. The second immutable law of football is that immutable law number one only works against your team; never for it!
BARCELONASAINT Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 It's been a fairly even game so with Reading just taking the lead. Bright start by Saints looking to break forward as much as possible. Very worrying to be minus 4 such influential players though!
St Landrew Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 According to Harry Pearson, (journalist & writer of many funny football books), the first immutable law of football is that players always score against their old clubs. The second immutable law of football is that immutable law number one only works against your team; never for it! Well that'll be 3 more goals for Reading, 1 for Brian Howard, and if they bring their subs on, 1 each for Antonio and Rasiak.
SFC Forever Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Reading have taken the lead with Sigurdsson beating Fonte and then curling a great shot into the goal.
SaintBobby Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Not bad overall. Poor from Jaidi and Fonte for first goal. Lack height. Not sureabout Mills on the right wing at all
Smirking_Saint Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 1-1 - Barnard I like Barnard, real worker, think he will have a great season this year.
VectisSaint Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 you must admit this is weaker than last year just look at the bench not a single forward Todays team is weaker than what we ended up with last year, granted, comes of having 4 players injured. Better team than what we had this time last year though, probably better than what we had at Xmas for that matter. In the end its still a preseason friendly. Bench is clearly very weak, but Pulis is there is we get stuck.
S-Clarke Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 I like Barnard, real worker, think he will have a great season this year. a bit like ormerod, but with a finish!
WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 This team put out today will not beat Plymouth imho so we have to pray that at least Spiderman and Lambert are back next week. Now very worried about the lack of our squad depth which could derail our promotion bid if not addressed very soon. Unlike other posters on here I have been worried about the squad strength all summer and am disappointed with our transfer dealings so far this summer.Hopefully these players AP wants will arrive sooner rather than later and certainly by 31st August. Why am I worried if we make a poor start? Mainly because I think NC won't be patient and AP will be sacked and imo we need stability to win promotion this season
Saints foreva Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 How come Lambert isn't playing? Should I be worried?
Saint Garrett Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 a bit like ormerod, but with a finish! Bit harsh, I'm sure if you put Ormerod in League 1 in his prime, he would have got a hatful !
Smirking_Saint Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 a bit like ormerod, but with a finish! Exactly
Master Bates Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Saints Official Twitter has not changed at all for me, pressed F5 about 12 times and it still says: Injuries to Lambert, Lallana, Puncheon & Schneiderlin mean they sit out of today's match. Antonio and Rasiak on bench for Reading. #saintsfc about 1 hour ago via Twitterrific
S-Clarke Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 How come Lambert isn't playing? Should I be worried? he has a groin injury apparently, no idea if it's serious or if he's rested just as a precaution. Lallana still has a knee injury and must now be rated a real doubt to start the season.

jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 what is happening with dan seabourne? he has barely featured in pre season. not on bench today.
VectisSaint Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Bit harsh, I'm sure if you put Ormerod in League 1 in his prime, he would have got a hatful ! He did, I think thats why we bought him

Why am I worried if we make a poor start? Mainly because I think NC won't be patient and AP will be sacked and imo we need stability to win promotion this season There is one point you make that I most certainly agree with, and that is the timing of transfers. Although I realise the club want to look over the availability of quality players, there is also the need for these players to come in and gel immediately with the rest of the squad. If you are of Rickie Lambert's quality, that takes about 10 minutes. For almost anyone else, it takes a wee bit longer. Plus, I also don't want to go into the new season feeling that we've shot ourselves in the foot by being one or two players shy of nailing the League One title. The team put out today may not necessarily beat Plymouth, but then AP may not be necessarily be trying to beat Reading, as a first priority, but as one of a list of priorities to follow through to the season opener.
Smirking_Saint Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Jesus christ, all these injuries have the chance to derail our season before it has even begun
fareham saint phil Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 half time and im officially worried at jaidi's lack of pace, also is it just me or has AOC beefed up from last season. dickson barnard and connolly have looked good
Scudamore Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Mills injured and replaced by Oxo Oxo? Christ I hope that one doesn't catch on...
View From The Top Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Jesus christ, all these injuries have the chance to derail our season before it has even begun Bar AL they'll all be playing next Saturday.
Smirking_Saint Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Bar AL they'll all be playing next Saturday. Yeah i think it will be ok, have a lot of hope so. And i am not a lack of depth worrier, any team recieving a multitude of injuries would struggle. Shame we couldn't field a full strength squad to see how we match up to a top end NPC club
saint_bert Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Yeah i think it will be ok, have a lot of hope so. Shame we couldn't field a full strength squad to see how we match up to a top end NPC club Thats right. Man U had to play their CM'S at Cb for a period last season. Every club gets them, its how you deal with it. Didnt Everton play with Cahill upfront on his own for a time last season when they had no strikers?
Minsk Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Hopefully it is merely of case of not taking a chance with players carrying slight knocks for a match which has no real meaning. Would you rather have Rickie, Punch and Morgan playing today or next Saturday?
John B Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 (edited) Whats wrong 2 1 at the moment http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~2107391,00.html Edited 31 July, 2010 by John B
Saint Garrett Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 46mins - Excellent run from Oxlade-Chamberlain means Griffin has to defend well to keep out Barnard, who's been Saints' best player.
Um Bongo Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Sounds like Wotton's getting his tackles in for next week.
