doggface Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 I'm not going today, but surely we will take more out of today than the other games so far. Should be a good test. If you are going avoid the avenue, as I have just found out there are road works for 2 weeks! Next week will be carnage!!!!
St Chalet Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Looking forward to Owen and Benjani signing on the pitch before Kick Off.
rocknrollman no2 Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 If Reading bring their full team, theres no way we will beat them.
AussieDog Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 If Reading bring their full team, theres no way we will beat them. Good to see we're heading towards the new season full of optimism. TBH I don't care whether we win or lose as there are no points at stake, but I'd like to think the majority of our team could actually hold their own in the CC, and that if it was an important game I would put money on us beating them at home anyhow (that doesn't mean I don't think we could improve the squad, though!).
Saint_Mabes Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 I'm hoping for a pretty strong lineup so we can see if we're up for it, with a few players involved so I can have a look at. Hoping for something like; Davis Butterfield Fonte Martin Harding OC Spiderman Carter Dickson Lambert Barnard Haven't seen Dickson or Carter at all and only OC once or twice. I'd hope to see also at some point some from Bailowski, Hammond, Puncheon, Seabourne, Mills, Holmes too.
SNSUN Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 I have it on good authority (my brain told me so), that there will be an official handing over ceremony at half time of Michail Antonio. He plays the first half for Reading and the second half for Saints. I am nITK.

Anyway, The club have done nothing to attract me to the game today so I shall not be there!

If it happens, it will be the most amazing fake prediction ever. Although, having mentioned it on here, Cortese has already read this and decided to pull the plug on the deal. My bad.
Chris Larkin Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Anyone know if the whole stadium will be open? There's nothing saying about it on the OS, but last year only the Kingsland was opened for the Stoke friendly which makes me wonder.

There's nothing saying about it on the OS, but last year only the Kingsland was opened for the Stoke friendly which makes me wonder. Well, Ive got tickets in my usual season ticket seats in the Itchen, Block 4 so it wouldn't surprise me if the whole of the stadium was open.

There's nothing saying about it on the OS, but last year only the Kingsland was opened for the Stoke friendly which makes me wonder. We couldn't get our 'normal' seats in block 20 (Family Centre) as I was informed that that part was closed.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Anyone think that Antonio will start for Reading?
Matthew Le God Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Today will the usual chants from the Northam of "We've got Antonio" be replaced with chants of... "You've got Antonio" or "We want Antonio" ???
Saint Fan CaM Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Well me and the Missus are going. Nephew might be going too. Hoping for an entertaining match and one where we will look equal to Reading TBH. However I suspect Rasiak and Antonio will do us - it's the law.
Toomer Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Today could give us some sort of idea of where we are for the start of the season.

Really looking forward to today, it's great to have football back. COYR!
John B Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 FFS, why exactly? A poor Championship team away to a very good L1 side? I'm sure the bookies would have us slight favourites for that if it was a cup match. They played better during the second half of the season finishing ninth and have played quite well pre season.
Matthew Le God Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 poor Championship team I'd disagree with that. They were 3rd in the Championship form charts I think for the last 23 games of 2009/10.
THEVMAN Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Dont know how true it is but heard a rumour that Lambert had picked up a groin injury, todays line up will give us a clue if this is true.
trousers Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Dont know how true it is but heard a rumour that Lambert had picked up a groin injury, todays line up will give us a clue if this is true. You seemed pretty 'close' to the recent 'Lallana is off' rumour (as in saying categorically that it wasn't happening), so with that background I would say your comment about Rickie being injured is probably close to the mark. May I therefore be the first to say: "Rickie injured? Oh, c o c k"
John B Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Any idea of the squad for today? Any trialists? There is a squad on the OS which appears the Same as the Squad for Barnet which did have a trialist which was not mentioned on the OS prior to the game
doddisalegend Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Harding Vs Antonio will be an interesting matchup? Reading should win this they showed their true form at the end of last season, there a good side. I'd like us to play our best side though no trailists or second string lets get the first team out only a week from start of season.
shirleysfc Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Lambert, Lallana, Puncheon & Schneiderlin all injured. 3 left backs start!!
shirleysfc Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Davis. Butterfield, Jaidi, Fonte, Harding. Mills, Wotton, Hammond ©, Dickson. Barnard, Connolly Maybe Harding @ right back, Butterfield in midfield??
saint_bert Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Wait for the Lambert isnt injured hes being sold posts to start
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Lambert, Lallana, Puncheon & Schneiderlin all injured. 3 left backs start!! You're joking?? And I thought the idea was to try to have a settled pre-season! I know you can't predict who might get injuries but you do know it's a possibility so if you also have lack of cover in key positions, you could be said to be in a little bit of bother before a ball's been kicked in anger...
saint77 Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 to be fair apart from defence the whole team looks weak

saint_bert Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Lambert's being sold? About time, the waste of space........... Never rated him myself anyway
John B Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 No I was just wondering what backup we have for strikers now that Paterson has gone

John B Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Saints twitter - Lambert injured, along with Lallana, Puncheon and Spiderman How badly injured?
Master Bates Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Just found one of those live streams that won't work http://freelivesportstv.blogspot.com/2010/07/watch-southampton-vs-reading-live.html
Master Bates Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 if he's injured, he wouldn't be in squad! He's not in the squad??? Damn, must mean he's off, god this is devestating, he's the best player we've had in about 125 years....
The Kraken Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 Saints twitter - Lambert injured, along with Lallana, Puncheon and Spiderman Christ, that's arguably our 4 most important players out injured. Hope it's just a precaution for next week otherwise we're going to really struggle.
saint_bert Posted 31 July, 2010 Posted 31 July, 2010 He's not in the squad??? Damn, must mean he's off, god this is devestating, he's the best player we've had in about 125 years.... told you it wouldnt be long till they started
